  1. I found what looks like a reproduction of the earlier radiator cap on ebay recently. However, it looks like the Japanese writing at the bottom is different, along with other differences. Can anyone translate? Arne, I am surprised that the caps with Japanese writing were used as late as your 7/71 (but don't doubt that yours is original to your car). I am pretty certain my 5/72 has the later style with no Japanese writing. Also, why do many people leave the sticker on these new caps (see last picture). Is that supposed to be the correct sticker? I have never seen an original period picture of a 240z with one on it. -Mike
  2. Ok, here is the lastest on the repro throttle knobs. They are available now for $35 shipped within the US. Additional shipping for any shipped outside the US. http://www.outcastrcp.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=6 Here is Bryan's email address: winkaslink@yahoo.com, or you can register on the site and contact him that way. Low VIN owners take a look around his site as there are a couple of other things you may be interested in, including one surprise item I just found out about. -Mike
  3. Can't you just order them from a Nissan dealer in Denmark, or even in the US or Canada? Oil drain plugs and flywheel bolts should be easy to get through a dealer. -MIke
  4. Just call them up and talk to them. They should be able to tell you what you need. -Mike
  5. My first guess was going to be NOS D hubcaps, based on number of pieces and the price, but I don't think they would make the car any faster. I like the NOS headlight cover guess the best so far, if you count the rings and covers as separate pieces. I agree that Carl's guess of the NOS plastic inspection lid clips win the cost per pound question. -Mike
  6. Get a new needle from www.ztherapy.com. As Arne and Walter noted, these are from a late 1970 or 1971. -Mike
  7. How about these? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Panasport-Ultralight-racing-wheels-Datsun-240z-AE86_W0QQitemZ290299650887QQihZ019QQcategoryZ43955QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem -Mike
  8. 901 silver was an original color from 1970 - 73. Many of the earliest cars were silver. My HLS30-00237 is 901 silver. Yes, the ad is real and Carl and many other people on this site know the seller. Not sure why he chose craigslist over ebay for this car. Maybe because craigslist is free and since the car is not together it may be easier to deal with a local buyer rather than shipping it? -Mike
  9. I wish it was. There is a snow/rain mix in the Seattle area right now and that is supposed to last for the next couple of days. Time to head south for a break. -Mike
  10. There are several members in western WA, but I have only seen one or two over the years that are actually in Olympia, and they don't appear to be on the site much any more. I live about 75 miles north, so driving 150 miles round trip to pick up a part is more than I would like to do. Differentials are also pretty large and heavy and would be difficult to pack well and ship internationally. -Mike
  11. You can still get them from the dealer. I can give you the part numbers if you need them. -Mike
  12. Welcome. Sounds like you have a thing for orange and black Z's. There are a lot of good people and information on this site. -Mike
  13. I think he is looking for wheel recommendations, not tires. I am not an expert, but I think the ultra light Panasports are pretty common for racing Zs. You should PM Greg Ira (member name gira) and ask what he recommends, in case he doesn't see this. -Mike
  14. Looks like the seller also listed it on ebay now. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fsearch.ebay.com%3A80%2Fsearch%2Fsearch.dll%3Ffrom%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dm37.l1313%26satitle%3D200316295015%26category0%3D%26fvi%3D1&item=200316295015&viewitem= -Mike
  15. I decided to scan and share some more of my Datsun memorabilia. Here are copies of the Nissan U.S.A. monthly newsletter "Datsun News" from 1972. I had to break May and Aug into two files each due to size. Enjoy. -Mike
  16. Thanks for posting that Jim. I have to check this collection out in person one day. -Mike
  17. Here is a close up of the original dealer installed stripe. -Mike
  18. Yes, as I noted in my first post several pages were missing when I got these, but I thought I would post what I have anyway. Yes, I think this is only a one page release since it does not say "(more)" at the bottom, as all of the other first pages do when there are multiple pages. Yes, it looks like I am missing pages 1 & 2. Yes, it looks like there should be multiple pages, but I only have page 1. Yes, it looks like I am missing pages 1 & 2. Yes, it looks like there should be multiple pages, but I only have page 1. Yes, it looks like I am missing page 1. Yes, it looks like I am missing page 1 and the pages after page 2. They may go together, I don't have the page two for 09-17-72, so I can't be sure. The reason I don't think they go together is Page 1 is only about the upcoming race at PIR, but pages 3 and 4 are summaries of several other races. Looking at the other releases, it seems that they either focus on one major race (like the two 1969 ARRC releases and the 1972 Road Atlanta release) or summarize several races, but not both.-Mike
  19. I decided to post these as a separate thread instead of including them with the vintage racing pictures. Lots of familar names in these, including Morton, Brock, Sharp, Parkinson, Racer Brown, etc. Some of the pages are missing. I did my best to put the pages together, but if anyone notices pages that need to be moved, let me know. I am posting all of them that I have, in chronological order. If anyone has more please add them. -Mike
  20. Just unbolt the hatch support mount. It only has one nut to take off and then have someone hold the hatch up for a few minutes while you put the panel in. You could also prop it up with something, just be very careful not to knock it down. -Mike
  21. It should be grey, like the rear taillight surround. The paint that Les at classicdatsun sells is a good match. -Mike
  22. Sounds like someone who knows nothing about Z cars and just believes a story he was told by someone he trusts. He thinks he stumbled across the Mona Lisa at a garage sale or something. If it supposedly took him three years to get documentation from Nissan of something, wouldn't you think he would show that in his ad? Apparently this engine was used in the Nissan President, but it definitely looks like a swap job. Nothing installed by the factory. -Mike
  23. I don't know about Terry. The last I heard from him was last fall. I posted about it in this other thread http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showpost.php?p=282367&postcount=6 The only other source for caps I have heard of is Massey's in OK. I have a couple of sets, so I am good for now. Very strange about Terry though. -Mike
