  1. Here is an old post from Kats with what they should look like. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showpost.php?p=121707&postcount=17 -Mike
  2. Here is the back of an early "grapefruit" alternator on an 11/69 production car. The rounded triangle cut outs in back look like grapefruit sections. -Mike
  3. According to the article the Jag was scrapped. He also left behind an Aston Martin, which was sold, and a Jaguar sports car that was scrapped because it was in such poor condition. -Mike
  4. Kats already has a set on his 432. I believe these were most recently on the 2008 Motorsport Auto "Best of Show" winner's car. http://zcarparts.com/08wcn/bosL/index.htm. -Mike
  5. They're legit, but I think you would have to start selling off body parts to give the seller what he wants for them. -Mike
  6. Just noticed that Mr Camouflage already pointed out that blue is not the original color. Still a very nice and rare car. It would make a great addition for a Nissan collector. -Mike

    Car info

What information are you looking for? If you want to find out about some differences in the 1969 production cars you can do a search on this site. You can also see other information on them at www.zhome.com. -Mike
  8. Here is another listing for the same car. I think it is from the same seller, just adding more details and photos? http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/cto/971749598.html The interior looks ok - the dash has a cap. The engine is just a bare block with nothing hooked up. -Mike
  9. I saw this 1971 on craigslist in CA the other day, but it looks like it is a non-stock mess and the seller is dreaming about the price. http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/cto/964327341.html -Mike
  10. JDM 240Zs had fender mounted mirrors on both sides, but no door mounted mirrors. -Mike
  11. I'll take your last one if you still have it. -Mike
  12. Looks like she is near Puyallup from this post in another thread http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showpost.php?p=272152&postcount=6 Everett is not too far though, especially for someone that can do good work for a decent price. Like E said, unless this is going through insurance, it may be difficult to find someone that is willing to do the work right now, after two solid weeks of snow in the area. -Mike
  13. Yeah, I noticed that one too. I guess they figured they had pictures of one S30 already. I was just happy that Nissans in general were pretty well represented. -Mike
  14. I came across this Motor Trend article about a museum in Japan with an interesting mix of items on display - classic cars, toys, dolls, and candy. Its called the "Yokota Museum Collection World" or the "Toy, Doll, and Car Museum". There are several very nice Nissans on display, and at least one Datsun. Here is the link to the article: http://www.motortrend.com/auto_news/112_0708_japans_secret_auto_museum/index.html You can follow the link in the article to the 60 images in the photo gallery, but their aren't any cars until picture #20 and the best cars start at picture #31 (in my opinion at least). Here is a link that goes right there: http://www.motortrend.com/auto_news/112_0708_japans_secret_auto_museum/photo_31.html -Mike
  15. Looking good Randy. I can't wait to see the finished project. I recently got #210 and it is also white. I wasn't sure if I'd like a Z in white or not, until I remembered seeing Diseazd's white 1970 (hope you don't mind me borrowing the picture). Mine will be similar, with a black BRE spook, but with 15" aluminum Le Mans wheels instead of the panasports. -Mike
  16. Looks like someone liked them. They sold with the $550 BIN. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=300282259055&ih=020&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem= -Mike
  17. Apparently ONE of the things this guy is confused about is the difference between the Low Retail NADA guide value and a car like this that does not run and is "below poor condition". Here is the description from the NADA classic car guide for a Low Retail condition car Low Retail Value This vehicle would be in mechanically functional condition, needing only minor reconditioning. The exterior paint, trim, and interior would show normal wear, needing only minor reconditioning. May also be a deteriorated restoration or a very poor amateur restoration. Most usable "as-is". Some of the vehicles in this publication could be considered "Daily Drivers" and are not valued as a classic vehicle. When determining a value for a daily driver, it is recommended that the subscriber use the low retail value. Note: This value does not represent a "parts car". http://www.nadaguides.com/default.aspx?LI=1-22-1-5013-0-0-0&l=1&w=22&p=1&f=5014&y=1973&m=1254&d=2208&c=7&vi=79034&z=98074&da=-1# -Mike
  18. Yes, I'm sure he will have so many people looking to give him a non-refundable $500 deposit for "the exclusive rights to make a 1st offer on the car" that he will need to start another auction for that . He says he will make the car look just like the model, so does that mean he will build it to 1:18 scale? -Mike
  19. About as crazy as expecting it to sell by showing three small pictures of exterior side views of the car. Maybe that has something to do with the high bid of $233.27. No way he will ever get close to the $3,000 he is looking for with ads like this. -Mike
  20. Not sure if you ever got a response to your questions' date=' but the seller did eventually revise his ad with additional information, so I am copying it and pictures from the ad here for when the ebay link no longer works and this car appears again (and I'm sure it will). I'm not sure why he feels he needs to hide the VIN. [i']"This is a rare 69 240z with low 300 vin. It is in rough shape, but complete. The other car is more solid, but no interior, and it has a rebuilt engine and transmission, but no carbs. Both cars are restoration projects, I do not know the year of the black one, and there is no title for the black one, only the 69 240z. Again, both cars need work. I have had several questions about the vehicles, particularly the blue one. The blue one is more rough than the black one. The blue one needs floors, probably quarters, some sheet metal to rockers, all around restoration. The engine is original to the car, as is the transmission. The engine and transmission did run about a year or so ago, but I have not had it run since. The vin is in the low 300's. The other car has no title, but the body is much better. It is not complete, but the engine was rebuilt when I got the car. The black car comes with a rebuilt engine and transmission, it has good doors, fenders, trunk deck, hood needs some work. The auction is for both cars. I am looking at getting 3,000 for both If someone wants the rebuilt engine and transmission, no carburetors-available for 450.00 We can arrange transport as well. For the many that have asked, I will not reveal the vin, only to the person that buys. All the vin numbers are present, the clear title is in hand. The vin is lower than 350. The engine is original along with the transmission. It is a very rare car. For those that believe this is too high in price, remember there are not many 69's left. I realize that the economy is not the best, so if it does not sell, it goes into storage awaiting the time that the economy turns around. The price can only rise. That is my take on the situation, hopefully I am not wrong. Thank you to those that have looked at the ad, and realize the significance of owning this rare piece of history. thank you again" -Mike
  21. The hubcaps that were the original subject of this thread are listed on eBay again. This time with a BIN of $550. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/DATSUN-240Z-HUBCAPS-1970-1971-TYPE-I_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ66Q3a1Q7c65Q3a10Q7c39Q3a1Q7c240Q3a1318QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem300282259055QQitemZ300282259055QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories Last time they got up to $406.77, but the reserve was not met. -Mike
  22. The service manual for a 240Z says to check and adjust them as needed every 6,000 miles. -Mike
  23. Here is the original spook that was on HLS30-00210. It is the first version of the MkII that Carl described with the upper ducts molded separately and then bonded to the lower duct with additional fiberglass. I would assume this version would duct air better to the brakes, so why did BRE stop making them this way? Did they direct too much water to the brakes when the ducts were fully enclosed and it rained? I plan to get a new reproduction from classicdatsun and leave it painted black (like the original was) rather than paint it body color (white). I like the contrast. I wonder if it would be worthwhile to use my original to make reproductions of the upper ducts if any one is interested in them? Will? -Mike
