  1. What model/year Z is this for? I haven't seen any radio surrounds that weren't black (except for the very early grey ones). -Mike
  2. I'm pretty sure you don't have to remove the plastic sleaves. Since they are plastic they won't electroplate and they shouldn't be damaged during the plating process. -Mike
  3. Here are the emblem graphics from the 11/69 parts catalog. -Mike
  4. This is a good thread that details the restoration of a gas tank using POR products. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19034&highlight=fuel+tank+restoration If you do a search you'll probably find others as well. -Mike
  5. So at a judged car show (like a national Z convention) would you lose points for having a blue air cleaner that is otherwise correct for the manufacture date of your car? I thought the rule was that a newer Nissan replacement part could be used without losing points, so would that still be considered correct, or does it need to be the original orange one? -Mike
  6. The day/night knob is a different shape and has a red dot instead of a Sun symbol for the "day" side. Here is an old thread about it. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8383&highlight=red+dot+mirror -Mike
  7. Hey Randy, you've got an early red dot mirror. I haven't seen one in a Jan 70 car before. I'll be interested to see what other early parts your car has. -Mike
  8. White interiors were also available for some 72 and 73 exterior colors. -Mike
  9. Congrats Randy. I really like the blue interior on early cars. -Mike
  10. Tony, HLS30 62850 was one of the 37 Vintage Z cars that were restored and then sold through certain Nissan dealers in 1996. -Mike
  11. What car was this from Chris? The only early car I noticed in the convention pictures was Charlie Osborne's blue car. Was there another one there? -Mike
  12. Darrel, it shows Denver in 1996 and Aspen in 1998. Is that not correct? Thanks for filling in the missing location Steve and for posting the scans from the program. -Mike
  13. Thanks everyone. I updated the file based on the input. Just missing the 1991 location and a few dates. Hopefully Portland or Seattle will get a convention some day. July or August would be the best time of year. Maybe early September, but by then the weather is kind of hit or miss around here. -Mike
  14. I wanted to see if the Northwest has ever hosted a National Z convention, so I searched around on this site and several other places trying to find a list of where and when the National Z Conventions were held. I couldn't find a complete listing, but I pieced together the attached list based on information I came across during my seach. Can anyone add to or make corrections to this list? Also, it looks like the last two conventions and the one planned for next year were all at the end of Sept to early Oct, but before that the timing varied quite a bit. Is that a requirement that they all be held at the same time now, or is that just a coincidence? -Mike National Z Conventions.doc
  15. I know of Z Specialties, but I have never been there because, as you mentioned, they are only open during the week. I think Zs-ondabrain (Dave from Marysville) is familiar with Ollie the owner. -Mike
  16. Hi Ross, I'm in Sammamish if you need someone to help you look over a Z you come across let me know. -Mike
  17. In case you didn't see this yet, there is a LD28 in Colorado on ebay now. I'm not sure what the shipping is like for an engine though. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Nissan-LD28-Diesel-Engine-Datsun-280z-240z-Conversion_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ39Q3a1Q7c66Q3a2Q7c65Q3a10Q7c240Q3a1318QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem200258234684QQitemZ200258234684 -Mike
  18. Kats, why is it that hardly any Yahoo Japan auctions sell to anyone outside of Japan? It seems odd when many eBay sellers will sell internationally. -Mike
  19. I know where to list my spare fuel door knob now. -Mike
  20. Did you get a second Z Arne, or is that just some photoshop work? -Mike
  21. It looks like the seller in Camarillio, CA has another "out to pasture" Z up for sale on ebay now. This one is an early 71 with some sort of turbo setup http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-Z-Series-240Z-240Z-71-Turbo-Rollcage-California-Hotrod-Early-Z_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ39Q3a1Q7c66Q3a2Q7c65Q3a10Q7c240Q3a1308QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem220283766372QQitemZ220283766372. It looks like he is using a new ebay ID now "4calxprt". Probably the cheesiest ad text I have seen in quite a while. -Mike
  22. If you replace the plastic tank with a metal one I think you would also have to replace the interior plastic panel that covers that area. The metal tank is slightly bigger and requires the later panel with a bigger bump out to go around the tank. -Mike
  23. Me too. How about it rtaylor or Arne? -Mike
  24. Thanks Fred. They were done by Terry Vaughan. He did a set of Libre's for 7T1240 as documented in this thread http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20025&highlight=vaughan. -Mike
