VIN Decoder?
First, welcome aboard! Second, this question gets asked a lot by new people. Here is a link to a similiar thread that should answer your question http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16323 This site contains a lot of good information and the search function works well. -Mike

I'd say it is impossible to tell based on one picture.

drip rail identification(240 versus 280 or 2/2)
Post the part number and someone can check it for you. I doubt a Nissan dealer will be able to help identify a part from a 35 yr old car. Many don't even know what a "Datsun" is these days. -Mike

Can anyone identify these parts?
I don't think I have seen anything like those before Terry. -Mike

Canby '09, June 13 & 14, who's coming?
Here is a picture I took of the line of Z's in front of me as we left the rest stop. There were still several other Z's behind me too. I tried to post the picture to the the gallery under the Canby event pics, but it doesn't look like it worked for some reason. -Mike

No sign of Norm at the Canby show this year, so he is still MIA I guess. -Mike

73 240z easiest way to run return line for fuel
You are right Arne. I was confusing one of the emissions lines with the return fuel line. Ignore my comment above. -Mike

73 240z easiest way to run return line for fuel
Not all. The earliest North American cars didn't have return fuel lines. Other markets with different emissions requirements may not have had them either. -Mike

Canby '09, June 13 & 14, who's coming?
That sucks Arne. This is the first year I stuck around for the raffle stuff (well most of it at least) and as we were all standing over there I looked back at the cars and wondered if they would be ok. I guess the thief had a series one car, because they apparently weren't interested in the hubcaps from my 72 . If I had brought one of my early cars and someone had stolen the plastic fuel door knob from it I would be livid! I'll look around and see if I have a spare metal one for you. -Mike

Nice '72 wth 51k Original Miles up for Auction
It looks like someone zero feedback did the "buy it now" on this car for $18k. I am kind of surprised, since there weren't any other bids on the car yet. I wonder if it was a real sale. -Mike

Another source for new Nissan parts
I came across another internet site for Nissan parts recently and thought I would pass the information along. I just got my first order from them yesterday. The site is nissanpartsnow.com and apparently it is part of Conyers Nissan in Conyers, GA. They are cheaper than nissanparts.cc, Courtesy Nissan and my local dealer with Z club discount (which also requires me to drive 1.5 hours round trip to pick up the parts). Their site says "Lowest Prices On The Internet!". At least they are the lowest prices I have found so far. -Mike

Looks great Ron! I need to do something similar for mine. -Mike

Door Molding Install
I would also differentiate dealer installed Nissan accessories from dealer installed aftermarket parts. For example, some side stripes are "true original parts", they were just dealer installed, instead of installed by the factory. -Mike

Nice '72 wth 51k Original Miles up for Auction
I was watching this one too. It is similar to my 5/72 which has just under 40K miles and I may be selling soon. I agree the black undercoating in the engine bay would be hard to get rid of. Are the brown seats faded where they look green or were the tan interiors two tone like that? It looks like they are faded to me, but I think I have seen other 72 and 73 cars with tan interiors that look like that. Also, there is some sort of small chrome circle on the left side between the bumper and antenna. What is that? Some kind of a lock or something? -Mike

Door Molding Install
Exactly what I was going to say Arne. -Mike

Draining Engine Coolant
I thought I remembered them being larger than that too, which is why I typed "large bolt" initially. But then I went out to check the car and spare engine in my garage and both are 14mm (they are from 1969 production cars). I just went and checked the bolt in my 5/72 and it is 22mm, so maybe the 14mm is just another thing unique to the early cars. -Mike

Draining Engine Coolant
Left rear. It is a 14mm bolt in the block.

Correct. It is Mrs Brock's BMW 2002. They have their "Datzilla" 510 in for tuning, and the shop was closed yesterday. I think they plan to take a picture of the cover on the right car today and update the photo on their site. Edit: Guess I should have read the text for the 510 cover on the BRE site. Gayle already notes that is the ad. :stupid: -Mike
