  1. By hinged radiator shrouds do you mean the two piece shrouds shown on the site that Kats posted the link to? I thought those were only for the 280z and the 240z used the single piece metal ones. The site shows the two piece shroud for the S31 and the single piece one for the S30. -Mike
  2. Very nice Kats! Is your splash pan original or is it the FRP reproduction you listed the link for? The one in #237 has the holes in it. I assume it is original, but I can't be sure. I don't think the person I bought it from would have added it. I thought the splash pans were on US cars prior to 1973, but many have been removed at some point. The 11/69 US parts catalog shows the splash pan with no holes in it, but not sure if any of the early US cars had splash pans like that. Maybe Carl can comment if he has seen other early cars with splash pans and, if so, if they have the holes or not. -Mike
  3. If they are basically the same thing and the 75 had both, don't you mean to say "probably why they only had the Floor Temp light on the 76-78"? -Mike
  4. I agree that the ones from the factory were silver/grey. #237 still has its original one and it is that color. I think some of the earlier replacement parts were also silver and then they changed over to black at a later date. I have seen that with other parts like exhaust parts as well. See attached pictures of two NOS splash pans from prior threads. I would guess that someone painted one side or the other of yours. -Mike
  5. As I recall, the vent just goes over the center vent on the heater core. I don't think it has anything to secure it from the front other than the pressure from the heater control panel. -Mike
  6. Thanks for the perspective Carl. If nothing else, it seems like an interesting piece of Datsun history and might make a good addition to a Datsun Museum some day. -Mike
  7. Pictures from the listing for reference after it is no longer viewable. -Mike
  8. Has anyone else seen this BSR 610 race car currently on ebay? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=009&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=190231875229&rd=1 One bid at the initial starting price of $30,000 but the reserve is not met. Perhaps Carl or someone else can comment about what its value would be. -Mike
  9. It says those are for the 70-73 240z. Are the same ones used on a 75 280z? -Mike
  10. It looks like the part number is 74933-N3401 (from 11/73 to 7/75). www.nissanparts.cc shows the replacement part number 74933-N4200 at $21.81 each if they are still available. -Mike
  11. I think he is asking about the interior trim piece that sits on top of the rock panel, and I believe that is called a scuff plate. I only have 240Zs, but I assume it is a similar piece on 280Zs. If you get the parts CD from the club and can get the part numbers you will need to order replacement parts from the dealer. -Mike
  12. Have you tried calling or emailing Ztherapy to see if they offer installation service for an extra fee? Bruce Palmer from Ztherapy is a regular on this site so he may respond directly to this thread. Also, have you already ordered a set of their carbs? I just picked up a set at the Canby show recently and they needed about a two week lead time to build mine (I have a very early car, so not sure if that is always the case, but another thing you should check on). I haven't had a chance to install mine yet, but they include an installation video as part of the price and can provide some assistance over the phone I believe if you have problems. -Mike
  13. Not sure where exactly in the Puget Sound region you are located, but you can also try: Motorworks Ltd. 12700 Bel-Red Rd. 14. My best guess here is that Tomo thinks someone may spill hot coffee on themselves driving around in their car, although I think the intention is to drink the coffee DURING the get together. -Mike

  16. Carl, I am interested in seeing a Datsun/Nissan museum, but what will Nissan's involvement be? Will Nissan or the thousands of dealers across the US that have made a living by selling us Nissan products over the years provide financial support or are they just looking to the public to raise the funds to tell their story? How were other auto museums (like the Toyota USA Museum) funded? I'm not sure how many Datsun owners will be able to spend $300 on a sweater to help get this started. How something with a lower entry point like $10 or $20 to put your name on a plaque or a tile? -Mike
  17. Arne, The early clock you repaired is going strong in #32 now after spending several months in #237. I tried repairing a couple of the early clocks about a year ago with no luck, but I decided to give it one more try last night, and got two of the five I tried up and running so far. -Mike
  18. Chris, When I swapped out the dash on #32 last week I noticed it has the same stamp on the inner foam dated 44. 10. 13 (October 13, 1969), so my dash was manufacturered two days before yours. My dash got two stamps, I guess because the first wasn't very legible. The speedometer is dated 26. 07. 09 (July 26, 1969), which is earlier than I would have expected. The speedo also had No 1 written on the top in black marker. I guess the workers thought as highly of the car as I do. I also noticed one other date stamped part that I haven't seen people discuss before, the door latch mechanism on the back of the door. #32 is dated 9-8 (August 1969) and #331 is dated 9-10 (Oct 1969). I have checked #237 and my 5/72 in the past and they conform to this year - month dating as well. -Mike
  19. Kats, Here are the wing nuts on #32. They are the same early style as on your Z432. -Mike
  20. Actually it is very easy to remove old chrome plating from plastic parts. Just put them in muratic acid and the chrome will dissolve over several days. If you are satisfied with the loss of detail, then go for it, but I will be holding out for something that is more original looking. -Mike
  21. I looked but didn't see Norm from Zeddsaver at Canby this year (at least on Sunday). He does have a set of taillights on ebay right now that he restored. I'm attaching a couple of pictures from his ebay ad and from his website. The chrome part looks good, and I think it is actually electroplated plastic, but the buildup process that he uses to be able to plate the plastic makes the finished item very thick and it loses all of the fine details. Look at the black center section of the taillight trim carefully and you'll see that all of the ridges have been completely filled in. I am also attaching a picture of his restored glovebox emblem. Compare how thick the chrome lettering is to an original and you will see the difference. I can post pictures of what unrestored originals look like for comparision if that would be helpful. -Mike
  22. Dave, I took these pictures of the switches in #32 during my all-nighter dash swap before leaving for Canby. Production date 10/69. -Mike
