  1. I think this is at least the third one recently. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1969-Datsun-240z_W0QQitemZ120216479525QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item120216479525 Sounds like it may be #305? So which looks to be in worse shape, this one or #299? -Mike
  2. How did he work with him to get a better fit? Was it custom made, or did Jim send it back and he trimmed it up and rebound it? -Mike
  3. Arne, I bought a set of loop carpet from Too Intense last summer. It looks and sounds to be the same as the MSA kit (bound edges, no cut outs for attachment points or cargo straps, same crappy threaded backing). This appears to the be same kit most places sell. So is the Classicdatsun pile carpet better quality? He also lists a wool carpet, but no prices listed for that. -Mike
  4. Did anyone else see that this Monster Garage Honey Bee with the 350z engine sold at Barrett-Jackson this year for $6000? http://www.barrett-jackson.com/application/search/carlist_Details.aspx?&In_LotNumber=64 To see the auction results you have to search by make here http://www.barrett-jackson.com/application/search/W_SearchSc08.aspx
  5. It's back..... Sounds like the reserve may be lower and if it doesn't sell this time he is open to offers. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1969-Datsun-Nissan-240z-HLS30-00299_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6763QQihZ019QQitemZ290200697547QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW -Mike
  6. These two: http://www.bre2.net/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=B&Product_Code=photo240z_image001&Category_Code=brearchivephotos http://www.bre2.net/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=B&Product_Code=photo240z_image002&Category_Code=brearchivephotos I think these are two of the most iconic images of the BRE 240z race car. The first is the graphic on the back of the T-shirt I also bought (and I think I have seen it on an old dealer poster as well?) http://www.bre2.net/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=B&Product_Code=apt240z001&Category_Code=ap The second was the graphic for the prototype coffee mug they showed me. -Mike
  7. Actually I only took two pictures. I forgot to get one before we left the restaurant and it was raining once we got outside (not much of a surprise for Seattle). I brought my 72 240z and was able to show it to Peter and Gayle on the way out. -Mike
  8. I have always wondered that too. I've searched for other information about him, but never seen anything but references to his book. -Mike
  9. Well, I just got back from meeting Peter and his wife Gayle and they were incredibly nice people. I got to talk to him about Datsuns and his career for about an hour. What an amazing life! The poster and pictures are great. Sounds like the posters are going quickly. Since they only started with 80, I don't think they have many left. I also ordered the T-shirt with the BRE 240z on the back. They are probably the highest quality T's out there. Gayle also brought most of the other items they offer, so I could check them out and give them some feedback. Everything is very high quality. The 510 RC model looks cool. I can't wait until they finish the 240z model. I also got to see a protype coffee mug they have with a side view of the BRE 240z and Peter. A day to remember for sure! -Mike
  10. So I went and ordered this poster this morning, along with a couple of the 240z photos and paid the $10 to have the photos signed by Peter. His wife emailed me shortly thereafter I said that they only live a couple of miles away from me and wondered if I would be interested in having lunch with her and Peter. They will hand deliver the items, instead of shipping, since they are so close. Needless to say, I jumped at the offer, so I'll be meeting them this afternoon. How cool is that? -Mike
  11. I have that book too, also printed in 1979. I haven't seen them around very often. -Mike
  12. Looks like his unrealistic prices haven't changed and his ads are even less informative than last time. Previously he at least had a couple of distant pictures of the blue car (#305) and some sort of write up. -Mike
  13. I'll be curious to see what his reserve is. My guess is it is set too high and the car won't sell. Does the engine number on the ID plate seem high to anyone? It looks like it says 4808 in the photo. I would expect to be more in the 2400 - 3000 range based on the data on zhome.com and my two 11/69 cars. #237 has engine #2848 and #331 has engine #2585, which shows that they are not necessarily in order, but fall into a general range of a couple of hundred.
  14. The valve cover is the correct early one (Nissan 2400 OHC) for your car, but shouldn't be painted at all, just unpolished aluminum finish.
  15. Arne, Does the one with the concave face from your later car have the two sided key or the one sided? Maybe the change in lock faces was related to the change in keys? -Mike
  16. That is a crazy price for a steering wheel in average unrestored condition. I know that seller (he lives pretty close to me) and I have bought several things from him. He always seems to get record prices for most everything he sells for some reason. When I have something to sell on eBay I think I need to have him list it for me, or at least copy his ad or something. By the way Arne, yours was in better condition and your clock is still running too, so thanks again for both. -Mike
  17. It's just a plastic emblem someone painted red and blue. Not original or rare. The spare tire (with a date of 10-70) jumped from $140 to $280 not long before the end of the first listing. He has it listed again for $280 and I seriously doubt it will ever sell with a starting price that high. It sounds like it is pretty well worn anyway.
  18. Will, I checked last night and the holes for the defroster and parking light switches on my early choke plate are just slightly larger than on others that I have. When I try to put the two blanking plugs in other choke plates they don't seem to fit very well. It would be easy to enlarge the holes, so I guess it would not be a problem. If you are going to make three versions anyway, then it wouldn't be an issue at all. It looks like I have three versions of the choke plate (the earliest with no "ON" lettering and the blanking plugs, one with a throttle opening the same size as the choke, and one with a much shorter throttle opening - about 1/2 the size of the choke). Are these the three variations you were referring to? Let me know if you want me to send you my early choke plate with the blanking plugs for you to reproduce. -Mike
  19. Thanks Will! Hope your little one feels better. I would add knobs for the radio to the list. I have extras if you need some to use. Regarding #5 and #6 (the rubber plugs for the defroster and parking switches on early VINs), make sure they fit the holes in the console cover (#4). As I recall the originals I have only seem to fit the console that they came with, because the holes are a slightly different size. I can verify that tonight when I get home. -Mike
  20. I liked this low mileage 71 that sold on ebay recently after about four days for a buy-it-now price of $13,900. I was surprised no one posted about it. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=009&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=190180468144&rd=1 -Mike
  21. I think this seller is the one you were referring to. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-Nissan-240Z-Choke-Cable-Clamps-1970-1971_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ34198QQihZ012QQitemZ220182045977QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW These clamps are for the earlier four screw carbs. I have seen the seller list the ones for the later three screw carbs as well. If you need those you can contact him and he can probably sell them to you directly or list them for you. He has sold several sets, so it seems he has the shoe box full of them that Bruce was looking for. -Mike
  22. I think it is unlikely that a window shop would stock a window seal for a 35+ year old 240Z. They may be able to order it, but it would probably be easier if you just provide your own, or better yet, just install it yourself. I have done it and it is not that difficult. You could always give them a call and ask.

The seller had two separate ebay ads for #51 and #305 at the same time this summer and both said they came with an additional 1970 as a parts car, so I don't believe he was selling them both together. It looks like he was asking $10,000 for each low vin car plus a 1970 parts car. Here was the ad for #51 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160128853712&fromMakeTrack=true&ssPageName=VIP:watchlink:middle:us Here was the ad for #305 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160128854277&fromMakeTrack=true&ssPageName=VIP:watchlink:middle:us #305 looked pretty rough from the couple of pictures shown and there were none in the ad for #51. Since #305 is in your backyard, how does it look to you? -Mike
