She is going to be a beauty for certain... Great job. I'll bet you can't wait to get her out on the road and let her strut her stuff....
  4. Definitely the chicks. Every woman who has ridden in my Z has been to bed with me....So that is why I have been working so hard to get the resto done and get it back on the road....

Thanks to all who have replied here... Stephen, I checked out the Nissan site you referred me to and I plan on ordering that whole assembly. Thanks for the headsup on that one. Randy

Greetings To All, I am in need of a 3 prong male connector like the one shown in the attached picture. This particular one is from the antenna switch cable on a 73 240Z. Would anybody have one of these they would like to part with or know where I could get one. ? Many thanks...

Fabulous job on your dash.. I'm one of the lucky ones as my dash hasn't cracked so far...but it has faded somewhat and I would like to restore the blackness. Would that SEM Trim black be the thing to use.? Does it come only in spray. I would like to apply it with the dash still in the car? Would that coating make the dash less likely to crack in the future?

I have a Sears (Craftsman) 3 Ton SUV Floor jack. It has a high lift of 21 inches which is nice for getting some extra height on the jack stands. I also use this on my Ford Bronco. It goes as low as 6" on the low end and this fits nicely under the Z. I use 3 ton jack stands as well they have a nice wide base and are very sturdy. The only thing I don't like about this jack is that it doesn't have a rubber pad on the lift saddle...

George, The Dynamat seems like a good product too but I think I would have gone with the Second Skin after talking with you and reading that article on the shootout. However, I saw this deal for Dynamat and ordered it a couple days before corresponding with you.... In any event my plan was to put down a layer of Dynamat Extreme and then a layer of the Dynamat Liner on top of that. Good idea ...i will check with the IZCC and register.. And lastly, believe it or not we had 82 degrees here on March 26. But just for a day. And it probably won't get back there until mid summer....

I like the electric fuel pump kill switch idea....In my case I have both mechanical and electric fuel pumps on board. If the electric fuel pump is disabled, will the mechanical still draw gas through it?

Thanks Gary and George for your very helpful replies. I found a good deal on Dynamat Extreme at Amazon. I bought a Bulk Pak (36 sq ft) for $129 plus free shipping (this is better than 1/2 price). Now I just have to wait for the weather in Minneapolis to warm up some so I can get out into the garage and get to work.. I've got some POR15 on the way as well.. George, I too an the original owner of my Z. It's hard to believe that 34 years have passed by so quickly. Damn .....and they say that time passes even quicker with age.....But my Z time machine takes me back.....

Thanks for your inputs guys.. Hey Z111, I had seen that article on the sounddeadnershootout but hadn't gotten around to reading it until last night. Wow....that is a fantastic piece of work and research. Well, I'm not convinced to use Dynamat or the Second Skin stuff. Maybe a combination of both..... I have a couple questions about your install... Does your Z have the drain holes in the floor and are they plugged with the rubber grommets. This is the case with my car....So did you put down the Second material right over the rubber plugs or what. Also along the side of the threshold there are access holes into the rocker panel area. The same question here... Did you put the sound deadening material over those holes as well.. thanks
  13. My 73 240Z came with the E88 head. Due to a problem with this head I had it replaced with an E31 with the larger valves. The guy who sold me the E31 head didn't inform me that the larger valves would be a problem on the stock L24 motor. And being a novice at the time I didn't know of the potential problem.... Well, I ended up having to tear my motor down and bore out the cylinders and have a relief cut out of the upper edge of the cylinders. This was due to the larger valves coming into contact with the upper edge of the cylinder walls. But after doing all that the engine now runs great with those mods....

Hey Beandip, How long has it been since you installed the B-Quiet material? Did you apply it to the outer door skins as well? I'm really worried about rust forming underneath this material especially on the floor and doors.

Hey Guys, I'm considering putting one of the sound deadening products into my 73 240Z. I have read through the archives covering your fabulous inputs regarding this subject. However, I'm wondering how the various products have held up over time. Has anyone encountered any additional rust problems on the floor, doors, side panels etc.. Has the material stayed in place well. You get the idea....I'm looking for the post op analysis on the materials and techniques used. thanks
