Look what was hiding!!!!!!
But isn't that what you want? A tough coating that will be impervious to air and moisture. I'm thinking to coat is just under the step plate where it won't be seen anyway, right. My 73, 240 Z had a lot of rust under there also but it had not eaten through the rocker. I had to replace the step plate and I think I will coat the underside of the step plate as well. And, I'm with you. My car has seen the last of the rainy and snowy days. And living in MN the salt on the roads were murder on it. However, I only drove it for a few years here in Minnesota before putting it into storage in 1981 and just started the refurb in 2001. good luck

Your opinion on this front air dam (sweet)
Greetings Moyest, No to get off the subject but I really like the looks of your wheel and tire size combination. Could you tell me what size tires you have on your orange Z as shown in the photo you reference. I'm looking to upgrade my 240 to different wheels and tires. thanks

You might want to consider painting on a couple coats of POR15 under the step plate.

Chrome2GO ???
Thanks to all you guys for your feedback. I checked with PayPal today but they won't do much to help unless you file a claim within 30 days after the purchase. I was trying to settle this myself since PayPal and Ebay encourage you to do that first. And it is now going on 60 days by now. I sort of didn't go through Ebay for this transaction. I did participate in the auction but lost. Within a couple days I received an email from Dennis Hill at Chrome2Go offering me the part since the other buyer didn't pay up. So I just sent a payment to him via PayPal. My mistake. What's that old saying, "Buyer beware". thanks again Max

Restoration Tire Size?
MikeW, Thanks for the speedy reply. I really like your car and wheel/tire choice. OK I think that has convinced me to go with that tire size. The sidewall size is a little smaller than my current tires but it still looks very good. I'm considering the Panasport 16x7 inch wheels and now have to make up my mind between the all silver or the gun metal gray ones. I'm leaning towards the gun metal ones as I think that would make a nice combination with my silver 240Z. How have you liked those tires in regards to ride and performance? thanks Max

Restoration Tire Size?
Greetings MikeW, I'm looking to upgrade my tires and wheels from 185/75-14 to 205/60-16. However, I don't care for the really low profile tires and was wondering how this combination would look. Do you have a picture of your wheels and tires that you could post. Thanks

Chrome2GO ???
Hey Guys, I was looking to hear from you guys regarding your experiences about a company known as "Chrome 2 Go" and whether or not if anyone knows if they are still in business or what. On June 13th (via EBAY) I bought a chromed valve cover for my 240Z and here it is Aug 7 and I still have not received it. Six times I sent emails requesting status on my order and after the 3rd request Dennis Hill contacted me and said that he would follow up on it but I still have heard anything. I have left numerous phone messages and still no feedback. Does anyone have any clue as to what's going on there? Thanks Max

Trouble finding rims
Greetings 2-4-T-Z-MAN, I;m considering a set of Panasport wheels for my 73, 240Z and am wondeing if you have a set of pictures of yours. Why did you settle on 16" instead of 15 or 14? Thanks MAX

G-nose
Greetings Alan (HS30-H) I saw your post from a couple years ago regarding the G nose. You have sold me. Now where can I find the original 5 piece add on. Any ideas? In your article you mentioned Brian Long. I think he also is the Japanese correcpondant for Sport Z Magazine. Do you have any idea on how to contact him. I would guess that he has many contacts in the Z world and I'm hoping someone will know where I could get a set of the G nose parts, Used would be OK. Max

Professionally sealed gas tank baffles?
I have a similar problem. I sealed my gas tank myself using the POR15 gas tank sealing kit. However, I think I have gotten the end of the supply line sealed. Any thoughts on how to unclog this? Max

Heads and L28 Blocks
Has anyone had any experiences with an L28 block and E31 head. I've heard that makes a good combo for a 240.?

FS: 240 Z Doors
Greetings, I would be interested in both of those 240Z doors if they will fit a 1973 model. I live in Minnetonka. The ones on my car have quite a lot of rust around the bottom seam and need replaced. How are yours in that area? How can I contact you? Max

Chalking bumper rubbers
Speaking of bumper rubbers. Does anyone know where to get new ones for a 73 240Z. I tried removing them from the metal side pieces and broke off a couple of the little embedded bolts. Not to mention that they are pretty well scratched and scuffed. How do you smooth out the scuffs? Also, has anyone tried to replace the embedded bolts. Or any suggestions as to how to remount the rubber pieces without a few of the bolts.

Opinions on those Clear Headlight Covers... for an Z
I will do that someday when its finished. Right now it still looks like a standard silver 240Z but without any fenders or hood.

Opinions on those Clear Headlight Covers... for an Z
I have a 73 silver 240 Z which I'm restoring and that is my plan to make it look like that one if I can get ahold of the gnose parts.

Opinions on those Clear Headlight Covers... for an Z
Hey Alfadog, Is that a picture of your Z under your name.? Nice looking car. Does it have the G nose?
-
How do you like the front of your Z?
I like the looks of the G Nose because I like the long sleek look of the older Jags. I saw your reply, sjcurtis. Do you or anyone know where I can but the G nose parts like you showed in that picture. MotorSport Auto offers a G Nose kit but it does not contain the individual original parts. It is a molded 2 piece arrangement. Thanks Max

Best deal on POR-15
I ordered my POR15 from www.por15.com. They shipped it right away and I was using it by weeks end. I agree. Get the surgical gloves and use them. That stuff has to wear off the body otherwise. I also used the marine clean and the metal prep. Even though you don't have to I sanded off all the rust first. They have their own tie coat primer that I believe can be used anytime, even after the POR15 dries. They also have a chassis coat that can be used over POR15 anytime. You can put it over other paint if you rough up the surface but apparently it is not as effective as on bare or rusted metal. I've just recently used the stuff so I don't have any knowledge about how long it holds up. Can anyone else comment about its durability?

European Tail Lights
Does anyone know where I could get the European Tail Light assemblies for a 73 240Z? Motorsport does NOT have them any longer. These are the ones that have an amber colored lense for the turn signal. Many thanks
