What is your favourite colour Z?
It is actually a Nissan Champagne from the Patrol. The two tone late 80's early 90's one. They were maroon up above the swage line and champagne below. Hope this helps Greg

Introduce yourself to the class?
Hi, I'm Greg from Brisbane Australia, just like southern California it is pretty good weather down (up if your in Aus) here almost year round. I am 38 years old and own (with 2 partners) my own Finance and Construction company and have an interest in an IT company as well. 2 kids, 1 too many wives, 2 motorbikes in various states of repair/reconstruction (3 if you count the eldest boys MX bike) 1 260z 2+2 with too many mods to list, and a new SAAB. We live a fairly nice existance in this part of the world and as my wife is the keeper of all things in the diary, I never know when I am able to work on the car or bikes, so it has been a slow evolution to where I want to get things. Thanks to Mike for starting and keeping things active, I use it as my home page. Greg

The new Z in person - Chicago Auto Show
I saw it at the Brisbane Motor Show on the weekend, it is a lot smaller than I thought it would be. It has an anamorphous type of look that could be anything - not only a Nissan. The same problem afflicts a lot of new cars I have seen of late. BTW it is much more exciting than anything else on the Nissan stand tho. Greg

$30,000 Aussie peso's is about $15,000 US. I don't know what $15,000 would buy in the U.S. but as a comparison $30,000 Aus would buy you a new Subaru Impreza RS (I hope you have those by that name in the U.S.) Greg

Would you use a chat room?
I understand what you mean, at this time of day we are at work - I am lucky to be able to do this because I own the company I work for, in 3 hours when I finish work it does start to get late. I have a friend in Florida who I correspond with and it seems that with his family etc, his only time to chat is when I am at work. I hope this does work, because I think it is a great idea. Greg

When I was investigating all the options, the V8 idea was just about top of the list, but because the V8 doesn't rev as well as the 6 & I wanted a L.S.D., then the only centre available was a r200 3.11 and they are as rare a rocing horse $^!#. So the choice then is a six speed gearbox or a tremec 5 speed with a huge overdrive so that the poor thing wouldn't be revving its ring out or a 9 inch L.S.D. for strength and then you would lose you I.R.S. Of course you could go with a shortened Jag rear end for the I.R.S. but the bucks are piling up. In all, with everything that I did to my car (lots of rust) it has cost me the best part of $30,000 Australian to get it 95% finished. Greg

I understand that, but being real time would hurt your fellow zedders who live on the opposite side of the world time wise. How would we be able to acheive this? Greg

Yessum, it is amazing what a combined volume of knowledge elicits when needed. From there you will need to catalgue the responses so the same questions don't get asked over and over again as happens in some other chat rooms (BTW - this is the bit that takes up all the time). If you need to know what I mean have a look at this site http://www.rzrd500.com/wwwboard/wwwboard.html When new members come along, they don't read the archives and so the same questions get asked. After a while the active members stop posting and start emailing or messaging each other individually. However, as it would be new, I would use it. Greg

Unfortunately to have it all (as I wanted as well) - reliable starting, no overheating, not too loud, daily driver etc, then you have to go forced induction or another engine. I went pioneering in my neck of the woods and put a VG30DET engine in it and with very liite modification am getting over 280 bhp at the rear wheels with tractablilty, relative quietness (still makes a nice throbby note) and most of all no hassles with reliability. If you like any more info, let me know Greg

My Zed - 260z 2+2
Thank you for the comments, it is good to see that the 2+2 is still appreciated even by the 240z crew.

Vg 30
It is a difficult job, but the torque of the engine and the streetability of it is well worth it. I have a vg30det in my zed and it is a very nice thing to drive now. It makes 300 hp at the rear wheels and has no internal mods to it at all. Just a 3 inch exhaust, intercooler and an aftermarket engine management system. It weighs more than original by about 100kgs, but some of that is due to the electric seats, windows and other parphenaelia that has been thrown into it. It does 0-100kph in 5.6 secs and the 1/4 mile in 13.2 secs Greg
