Radiator coolant and cooling system filters
That was what I was thiinking also. The TEFBA has a easy to remove screen. The TEFBA comes with 2 different screens so you start with the large mesh screen and then switch to the small mesh screen before running without a screen. You could always carry a pair of nylons in the glove box to use on the radiator inlet like what was suggested. However for some that may not be such a good idea. Over the road trucks use a coolant filter with a anti corrosion additive in it. That filter looks like a large spin on oil filter and requires a base so it can be put in a heater hose line. There is just not room to put one of these on a Z. Has anyone run water backwards through a Z heater core and dumped it in a bucket to see what was in the heater core?

Radiator coolant and cooling system filters
I have been looking for a way to filter the coolant to remove the stuff that is moving aroung the cooling system. I have found 3 different companys that make coolant filters TEFBA, Golan and Gano. These go in the upper radiator hose. Here is a link to the TEFBA installed. http://www.midnightdsigns.com/Mustang/Tefba%20Filter.html I ran across this interesting tip. After a new engine rebuild or a head/intake reassembly, find yourself an old nylon stocking. If you don't happen to have one in your closet, get one from your wife, girlfriend, granny, etc. Drape the stocking over the upper water neck of the radiator and install the radiator hose like you normally would. Cut off the excess nylon. After the initial run-in, with the radiator full of coolant of course, remove the upper hose after it cools down and remove the stocking. You will be amazed to see how much floating debris, bits of silicone, and other miscellaneous crud will be caught. The first one is the Golan, the second is the TEFBA, the third one is a Gano. The fourth picture is a Gano that goes in a heater hose. The $20 heater hose filter is simply 2 quality garden hose ends with a filter washer in it. I just picked the hose ends up at Home Depot for $8.00 Is there anyone here that has used a filter or is doing this?

Loop pile carpet, any recent purchases? (2008)
It is edge stitched and padded with a thick jute padding. Its shape is perfect for the areas it covers. There were no luggage strap slots. The quality of what I got was really good.

Loop pile carpet, any recent purchases? (2008)
I bought my loop pile from my 71 from 1A Auto. It has a rubber backing and was edge stitched and fit the Z well. http://www.1aauto.com/1A/Carpets/Datsun/240Z/1ACCS02700/558226

Anyone have a spare R180 diff flange?
If it's the R180 pinion gear flange you want and plan on using it on a R200 pinion gear, it won't fit.

"Battery Desulfation" Snake oil or what?
Was doing some digging on causes of battery failure and what actually happens to the battery when its gone bad. I found a bunch of information about battery desulfation and how this can double or triple the life of a new battery or save a battery that appears to have gone bad. These guys www.batterylifesaver.com sell a device that connects to the battery and runs with out a external power source. It appears to have a capacitor and other circuitry that once the capacitor is charged up it spikes the battery with a pulse that over time dissolves the sulfation or will prevent it from forming on a new battery. I also found these guys www.wizbangplus.com that have one for $35 shipped to your door and a few bucks less on eBay. This device draws 45 milliwatt and can draw a battery down over time so the car has to be driven or have a float charger connected if it sets for a extended period of time. Any opinions?

Switched to Power - wiring question
The thermostat will not close until the engine has cooled down. Relying on convection is why the fan will repeatedly turn on and off once the engine is off. With the electric water pump running after shut down the engine is quickly cooled down and the fan only runs once for a surprisingly short time.

The trunk monkey would be a better solution, and it cleans up the mess that's left of the thief.

Switched to Power - wiring question
These are good points, my thought was that the only reason the fan is on is because the fan switch on the engine or radiator says the the temp is above 185 or 210. With out the pump running all that is being cooled is the radiator. With the pump running after shutdown both the engine and radiator are being cooled. With my 240Z the fan and pump never runs more that 2 minutes and once its shut down has never restarted until the engine was running. I have it wired for 2 fans but never installed the second fan. The only fan I have is a pusher in front of the radiator. On your Mopar what did you use for the 210 degree fan switch. I have a 185 but could not find a 210 that was pipe thread to fit the manifold.

Switched to Power - wiring question
For my 71 I have a fan switch in the intake manifold of the V8 that is the ground side of the relay, The fan is independent of the ignition switch and will run with the ignition switch off. I use a diode to back feed the electric water pump so it also runs when when the fan is on and the engine is off. A fan switch in the radiator is only seeing the radiator temp, but the fan switch in the engine sees the entire system especially when the electric pump is running when the engine is not. The longest my fan runs once the engine is off is a couple minutes and does not come on again until the engine is running. The fan will always run longer than it has to once the engine is off if the fan switch is in the block and there is no water circulating in the system. I started out with the standard automotive relays for the fan but after burning up a couple of them I switched to a contunuos duty relay pictured below. Its not a starter solenoid, its draws 1/2 Amp across the coil and is rated at 100 Amp and has large contacts. They vary widely in price with the more expensive ones having silver contacts that are not necessary for a fan.

Switched to Power - wiring question
Your doing the same thing I am doing with my small block 240Z conversion, except I have the Meziere water pump. I use 2 continuous duty relays one for the fan and one for the water pump and a bridge diode so when the engine is off and the fan is running so is the water pump. At first I had some glitches in my wiring and relay problems with the standard small relays. The secret is pulling your power off the battery for both and not from the stock wiring. I use the ignition circuit for the water pump relay but the fan is run off of a temp activated switch and can run anytime the temp hits 185. I found out the hard way, too much depends on the pump and fan and things go bad real fast if they quit. Dave

Radiator Surge tank for 240Z
That is off a 77-8 280Z, I used one on my 240Z and it was a perfect fit. I see the brackets all the time but the tank is always gone. I do have a extra bracket I will never use if you find a tank and need the bracket.

A well done 240Z video
- Datsun powered helicopter!
I look at that thing and this saying keeps coming to mind. There are old pilots and there are bold pilots, but there are no old bold pilots- HybridZ may be taken down by the S. Cali fires
Its a animated gif and I don't think its hard to do. If you google animated gif you will find something. I looked at the file and it was done with a program called GIF89.- HybridZ may be taken down by the S. Cali fires
That Avatar was a ad for a screen saver that was on the Internet years ago. I liked it and started to use it. I am surprised that no one else has used it since it's not really mine.- Datsun powered helicopter!
I don't think you have to worry that!!! here is a video of it I think he needs to visit HybridZ- HybridZ may be taken down by the S. Cali fires
Dan Porter who runs and hosts HybridZ from his home posted a couple hours ago that the fires were 1/2 mile away and was given the notice to evacuate. He said that the site would remain on line unless the fires took it down, but he had the site backed up and was taking that with him. The site was down a short time ago but is back up, I know a lot of the members from HybridZ do hang out here and will show up for info about HybridZ.- Take a look at this Ebay car.
The bulk of the stuff TexasZ has came from the stuff I have archived at www.V8-240Z.com Click the morphing Z at the top of the page and it will take you to a folder area behind the main page.- Chevy 250 or 400 for my 78?
Actually its www.HybridZ.org but your close enough- Ebay seller parting out a 70
I noticed the shipping also, the detailed seller ratings are worth looking at.- Finally able to fix a few issues and would like a few suggestions
Wow, that is a interesting story. In the end through all the aggravation it will probably will come out OK. I do see that more and more eBay buyers are asking club members to check out the high $$$ items they want to purchase.- Your pets
Here's Charlie my Amazon Parrot, after years of dogs and cats that die and leave the kids devastated I decided to get a pet that will outlast the wife and myself. This way the kids can fight over him. - Datsun powered helicopter!
