  1. Here is a repair process for those mirrors. http://s170049317.onlinehome.us/V8-240z/Files/Datsun/Mirrors/Z_Car_Mirror_Repair.htm
  2. I see that McKrack is now a banned user, Thank you Mike!!!!
  3. Burt, Don't you think its time to grow up? its this Jekyll and Hyde behavior of yours leads me to believe that you have a Bipolar (Manic-Depressive) personality defect. You could easily be a sociopath, because you are calculating, unemotional, brutal, and arrogant. Sure sounds like you Bert http://www.hss.caltech.edu/~mcafee/Bin/sb.html
  4. Burt these childish charades of yours with all the drama are simply wearing out your welcome here. Your misleading statements and antagonizing behavior are not making friends with this group. People that live in glass houses should not throw stones. What part of this is it that do you do not understand?
  5. It was a little smokey and smelly when I did it. I positioned the burning bushing over a 5 gallon bucket 1/2 full of water and the burning rubber just fell into the water and went out. Safe and simple as it gets.
  6. I did not include the spring rates, but they are 83 pound front and 103 pound rear. A fairly accurate way to check/compare spring rates is to use a drill press and a bathrooom scale. set the spring on the scale and put the spring holder on (easier for the press to put even pressure) and put pressure till you hit 50lbs on your scale then set the inch dial for reference and from the 50lbs reference point apply one dial inch worth of pressure and what your scale reads will be your spring rate.
  7. If you don't have a mic to check spring wire size use a cresent. FRONT SPRINGS 71 240 Wire Size----------.425 Spring Length------15 1/4" Right side Spring Length------14 3/4" Left side REAR SPRINGS 71 240 Wire Size----------.452 Spring Length------15" Both sides the same
  8. What your looking for is anti-wear additive ZDDP, zinc dialkyl dithiosphosphate. It has been cut down in ppm in modern oils. Any engine that has a flat tappet cam requires ZDDP in high ppm in the oil. These new oils are formulated for the new generation roller cams. If you look at the class on the bottle of motor oil, "CI-4" is what you want. If you see "CI-4PLUS", "CJ -4" or "FJ-4" it does not have the ZDDP in the proper ppm to protect our L engines, especially the cam shaft. The STP four cylinder oil treatment and CD2 High Perf Oil Boost (both in the red bottle) have more than the required amount in PPM of ZDDP when mixed with five qts. of oil. It will bring the level of ZDDP at least to where it was back when our engines were new. So using any oil and putting in one bottle of the STP four cylinder treatment or CD2 High Perf Oil Boost should be enough to prevent excessive cam wear. Hope that is helpfull!

    Give this a shot http://s170049317.onlinehome.us/V8-240z/Files/Datsun/Wiring-Diagrams/70-88%20Z%20Wiring.htm
  10. A pair of carbs should fit in a USPS (Our Postal Service) Flat Rate box and the shipping cost for that is $37.00. I have shipped a couple spindle pin pullers to Australia using that service and it works great and takes about 10 days.
  11. I just finished watching the new series from from Discovery Channel called Tuna Wranglers set in Australia. The ship featured in episode #1 is the Kingfisher. They had a short intro to the crew members and one of the crew drives a red S30.
  12. OK so you don't have any yet, by the time you drive all over with gas prices at $$$ would it have been cheaper in the long run just to spend the $$$ and buy what you know fits? Its not a matter of being made of money, its a matter of common sense and logic.
  13. This is where a helmet is needed to protect one from being beaten over the head.

I don't know if the story goes with this link but this is how I found it. A New York man retired. He wanted to use his retirement money wisely, so it would last, and decided to buy a home and a few acres in Portugal. The modest farmhouse had been vacant for 15 years; the previous owner and wife both had died, and there were no heirs. The house was sold to pay taxes. There had been several lookers, but the large barn had steel doors, and they had been welded shut. Nobody wanted to go to the extra expense to see what was in the barn, and it wasn't complimentary to the property anyway... so, nobody made an offer on the place. The New York guy bought it at just over half of the property's worth, he movedin, and set about to tear in to the barn. curiosity was killing him. So, he and his wife bought a generator and a couple of grinders... and cut thru the welds. What was in the barn? http://www.intuh.net/barnfinds/

Lost the key to my club and just slipped a piece of pipe over it where its attached to the steering wheel and bent it enough to remove it. The club should only be used as a layer of theft prevention combined with something else.
  24. I also thought that a replacement was the best option, but having first read this at 12:30 in the morning I figured that maybe it would look a little different when I was really awake later today. But I have to agree with Dave and taking him up on his offer is the best bang for the buck.
