Not to change or hijack this thread but daddz didnt you once own the very nice 70's era skyline?
  2. The thing is if he starts out to high he might price himself out of selling the car. If that is what he wants to do, depending on where you live and what shape the car is in depends on the price. Right now I can show you a very clean 240Z of the 71 vintage in California, clean all the way around and all original for 4k. The area will dictate the sales price as well as proving how clean the car actually is. Matter of fact there is a very clean 240Z on here now selling for 2500, and this car has pics of it taken apart to actually show the total condition of the car. Granted it needs the motor put back in but comes with the car and it is extremely clean. Like I said depends on what your looking to get for it the area your selling in and of course the right buyer, as much as we would like to think all Z cars can sell for as much as some will buy them for on ebay, it is not a judge or good book to go by for the sale of the Z. Ive watched many times as parts and items have gone for much more then what you can get them new, for the simple fact of people being lazy. That is a good point though, put it on ebay and see what you get for it.

I couldnt agree more with Zsaint well said and answered post.
  4. Well then since you are so "old" maybe you dont need to be driving anymore and sit on your collective "duff" and collect social security now......... just kidding please dont take offense. I am by no means young nor old but since the condition of your wheels are well pretty clean and without pitting polishing them wouldnt be that hard for you to do. Simple steps of wet sanding and microfine steel wool will bring out such a shine on that lip, I know Ive done it several times with other wheels. Then you could take them to your local painter and have them clear coated, though I must say powder coated would be better and they do have it in clean. As a matter of fact I know of a place down south that does the polishing and powdercoating as well, here is the website. http://www.technacolor.com/ Theyre work seems first class and theyre quality looks really well on they parts that they have already done.

No hes not, that is what happens when plug wires begin to effectively leak, at night you can see quite a show if they are really leaking badly.
  6. Beandip is right on, you wouldnt want to go with the cherry bomb style for just the reason he mentioned, you can find the race style type from many a reputable dealers such as summit racing and so on.

I have to say that your car is looking incredibly sexy, it is the only word that I could come up with to describe all that you have done with it, the final product should be worthy of even Mr. K's two thumbs up:)
  8. This is another simply put why question. It will do nothing to hinder the performance of your car if you leave it though it could hinder your car if you remove it. I cant see why people always think well that is an emmisions device it robs power, it couldnt be farther from the truth. Leave it and dont worry about it, it isnt hurting anything unless it isnt in good order.
  9. There was at one time a while back, 2 or 3 individuals that started a small company from a group on zdriver.com that used to sell the nissan style race headers. I cannot recall the companies name at this time but they were pretty inexpensive at the time for around 385 american for the ss steel headers. The construction and quality was excellent

Unfortunately that is all of what those erm "specialty" cars were. Nothing more then sticker pakages or paint codes, a shame really, I believe there is still a place that you can buy the sticker combo for the Zap, there was even a game made for that car. Its just like the 280ZXR, only thing that was really good about the car was the wing that was homologated into production to be used in racing.
  12. Looking at your photos I would say 4-5000 would be a good price, though the automatic will lower the value, Ive been looking at a car similar to yours, the paint is original and quite shiny, its been a california car all its like and its selling for 3500. Just check sites like collectorcartraderonline.com and craigslist.org, to compare cars equal to yours for a price comparison. I would say though just from the pics you car is worth a easy 4k. If you go through the steps of meguiars, with some paint cleaner, then polish and gold class wax, it would really change the look of your paint. That would make it look better to prospective buyers.

There are NGK wires avaialable for the Z they are part number NE61, and if you want them at a cheap price to go ebay and search for seller nvthai. Best price Ive ever seen on NGK wires.

On another note if you ever plan to put any real power to your vehicle you may want to rethink the centerforce clutch, they are about as good for as far as you can throw them.

MSD Blaster coils are pretty good, they are inexpensive as well at about 30 dollars, 45k volt coil. Its a good deal and not a cheap knock of from the likes of Autozone or that ilk.
  16. Not a bad looking product but honestly if you are going to upgrade alternators, I would suggest an early 90s maxima alternator. You get 90 amp compared to 65 and the only additonal thing I could see you needing is to change the bushing and put your exisiting Vband pulley on for the belts. Moving to the ZX alternator, to me is a waste for such little gain.

Here are two that are very good for either IE or Firefox/Mozilla browsers http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx
  18. I does look really nice and clean but you know what i noticed, why did he spray paint the underside like he did, makes you wonder what might be hiding.
  19. The add says no rust and I can see rust on the rear fenders, makes you wonder what lies underneath.

It could also mean that the previous filter was just dirty and in need of changing.
  21. Well someone is ripping you off if the are charging you 600 dollars for a new ?center section" Cartridge as hls30 has properly called it. My new Garret T3/T4 cost just over 600, so if that tells you anything then you might want to reconcider. Go to www.speedshopthagard.com he is a reputable seller and aslo a Zcar owner. You can go wrong with James Thagard, he knows his business and what hes talking about. Good luck
  22. I like the statement that you put here it was fat, bloated and underpowered, well lets see it did have more powere then the 240Z, it does weigh less then the 280Z. So I find that your statement there is very incorrect and also technically wrong. The aerodynamics of the ZX are far superior to the Z. The suspension was upgraded and so was the chassis, making the car more rigid and superior in handling if properly set up as with any vehicle. I see that a lot of people put down the ZX, and all for the wrong reasons or for statems such as this that state is is slow and underpowered. Personally on a looks note, I love the look of the first gen cars and I prefer theyre look, but to say that the ZX isnt a "Z" or isnt a good car are just talking out of theyre arse. I have a late 82 280ZXT in my collection, and there isnt a car on the road or at the track that I cant keep up with and a lot that I can beat. To name a few, SRT-4's, STI's, newer unmodified Vettes, Mustangs and even some of the supercharged variety. So saying that the ZX isnt powerful well, that is just a falshood.
  23. Well with any air fuel ratio monitor if it isnt wide band you arent really going to get a good reading, standard 1 and 2 wire O2 sensors just give you a generalization at best. Wide bands run about 350+ for a decent one. Unless you are turbo or are running a really high compression N/A motor I dont really see the need for spending the money on one. Just my .02

Here is the simple fact short and sweet, it does flow a little more air then conventional filters. Another thing with these being K&N at least, you will buy only one filter ever. If you change your air filter regularly like you are supposed to, every 3rd oil change, you will save in the long run by purchasing one now.
  25. You might also want to try Courtesy Nissan, original Nissan part for only 67 and change. If your going to pay that much might as well get the real deal. LINK http://www.courtesyparts.com/s30_brakes.html
