are there any upgrades for a 70 240z heater. even at full blast it just barely blows out any heat. im tired of wearing my ski pants to work in the morning. Z haiku: my 240z i crashed it into a pole damn you to hell pole

has anyone had any bad experiences with gunk motor flush. its that stuff you add to your engine and run it before you change your oil to get rid of varnish and other crap builds up in the engine. i dont want it to eat away at any seals or any thing in my engine. anyone know any good ways to clean out my engine? should i even bother cleaning it? my brain hurts. ow.

wow, an lsd r-180 would be great. but, the 4.11 ratio is a little higher than i want. would i be able to swap a 3.9/3.7 ring and pinion into the lsd unit? zlishous, your directions look helpful. thanks! i hope to start on mine soon once i get all the parts i need.

does any one know if any nissans/datsuns came with r-180's that have 3.9 gears. i know the european 240z's came with a 3.9 r-180, but i dont think i'll find any of those at the local pick n' pull. are there any 510's or 210's or anything that came with that rear end. my 240z isnt running high hp or any thing, so i dont really want to weigh my car down with an r200. i'm lazy too, so i dont feel like swapping all the cross member doohickeys and fandanglers and what not. any help appreciated. dont get bamboozled.

does anyone know where to get transmission rebuild kits for the 83 zx 5-speeds. or just a source for replacement parts. any rebuild tips would also help. any easy mistakes to make? thanks!

i was trying to get the case of my "B" style 4-speed transmission apart to see what the hell went wrong with it. i took off all the bolts that keep the pieces together but i couldnt get it apart. are there any good ways to get the case apart. i tried hitting it, smacking it, and even kicking it, but nothing seems to work. can anyone help me out? thanks! my foot hurts from the kicking.

i want to lighten the flywheel on my 240z with a 280z engine and a 83zx transmission. would i be able to have a shop remove 5 or 6 pounds safely? what part of the flywheel should i have the material removed from? could i remove more than 6 pounds? i would like to have a 17lb flywheel. any info or experiences appreciated! thanks!

well, i just installed my 82 zx 5-speed in my 240z and i have a question. i noticed that my old 4-speed has a nicely s-curved shifter that would go perfectly with my new tranny in order to avoid hitting my heater controls and console. but, the part of the gear shifter that actually goes into the transmission for the 4-speed is longer than the one that came with the 5-speed. will this prevent my transmission from shifting correctly if i used my elongated 4-speed s-curve shifter from the 240 in my 5-speed 82 zx transmission. any help appreciated! i hate shifting with out a shifter knob!

thanks alot for all the help! if you guys are looking for an lsd r200, then the 89-91 240sx has a clutch type. if you find a 93-97 then you will get a viscous type r200 lsd. both have a 4.09:1 drive ratio, and i'm pretty sure they're a bolt in. just food for thought. thanks again for the help.

thanks for the reply royce. i am going down to the junk yard tomorrow to get my ''new" zx tranny. im glad that i dont have to swap out my stock components that are still good. when i have the money i plan to up grade to an 83 zx drivetrain w/25% overdrive and an lsd r200. but for now, your answers have me on the road again! thanks!

thanks for the reply, 2many! is the yoke something that i can unbolt easily from the 280 doner car? is there anything else that i need to take from the doner 5-speed car? it seems that the only trannys i can find at the junk yard ar in ZX's and not Z's. would i be able to use a '79 thru '83 zx transmission with my '70 r180? thanks for your help!

welp, my tranny just busted and i need a new one. i want to know which transmissions i can use with my stock drive shaft and rear end. i thought it was a straight bolt in, but i've heard that i will need a different throwout bearing or longer driveshaft. i have a 1970 240z with a '77 280z engine in it and a stock 1970 driveshaft and r180 diff. . any help is greatly appreciated! pleease respond to this thread or with an e-mail! thanks!
