I have lubed evreything. Whats strange is they worked perfect on the L26 and now this. I just got back from 100 mile trip and everything works great except the hi idle. Chris

My car is a manual the only mods are a 6 into 2 header and exhaust and I use roundtops. Now as I said they worked great on the L26 but when they were on my L26 I removed the dashpot could that effect how they perform on the L28 in the way I am describing? Other then that Iam very happy the L28 doesnt smoke and it has lots of power, but I dont like the idle at 1100. I am planning to get rebuild kits however I would like to find the problem first and fix it before I do.

The answer to first question is no. It actually seems ok when I start the engine at any temp it will idle around 750, and then if I drive it it will idle around 1100. Tomorrow Iam going to atempt to adjust them using my books and the pages I have copied from this site that I think Arne posted. I think I can figure it out. As far as the hood dont you just loosen the four screws and then adjust accordingly? Thanks Chris.

Well it ended up being the slave I replaced it and now it works fine. What I was talking about was undernieth were the clutch mechanism is there is like an arm rather then a cable the part that activates the clutch. Since there was no hydrulic pressure it felt like it had come out and I was thinking that it fit into a ring I was wrong of course but I was doing this in the dark in my driveway and since I had never really worked on it before I was guessing. Mike last summer I bought a set of the fast fowards(rewinds) from a guy in Cali. They were 15x7 grey with polished lips Hankook performance tires mounted balanced and delivered for $900. I posted a link here last year about them but now I cant find the link. The guy said they were selling them to MSA and that must have been the case because I see they sell them now. I know you want 16" but if you can find my old link you might be able to contact the guy instead of going thru MSA. I believe the name of the post was called "A great deal". Hope this helps

Well I just had my L28 put in my 260z. The engine is running great. Saturday I went to park it in the garage and now I have no clutch. I got under it and can feel the linkage has come off. I believe this is to the throw out bearing. It looks like the ball on the end of the cable has pulled out of the ring. I was wondering is there a place with schematics that would show the clutch assembly? Also do you know where I can buy the ring if thats what I need? I think if the ball has pulled out the ring will worn to the point that it cant be fixed without replacing. Thanks Chris.

I just had my L26 swapped out for an L28. The car runs great except the idle is around 1100 I like it around 750. I have tryed to adjust the idle but it has no effect. I can turn the idle screw all the way out and it still stays around 1100. I have never adjusted my SU carbs before but they worked perfect on my L26. Is there a bigger jet or something when using the L28 with roundtops? Also It looks like my hood is a little crooked now and was wondering how to line it up. Thanks Chris

This is the e-mail I got from the guy today. I might buy the steering wheel but everything else is available. Here is what the e-mailed said.. I have a 76 body less the fenders doors and hood needs some body work on the quarters but is rust free the suspension on both ends with 70,000 miles has the r 200 rear end some wiring and interior pieces a hatch a few steel wheels all the glass several access doors and cowl screens lower valance lots of misc a very early rose wood steering wheel that is in tact but needs restored i.i. blasted and painted wood re cleared also several computers and mass air's have title for body i also have a 72 240 block and some misc pieces for it exhaust manifold timing cover dist fuel pump oil pan and rods let me know if any one can use

Ok sorry I guess the body is a 75 and the roof has been cut off but he has the roof. Sounds like he wants like $300 for the body I dont have pics but he is sending the list soon (he says anyway) so Ill keep you guys posted.

I am in the process of putting an L28 in my 260Z but I am not going to use the EFI. Everything should be there inluding the manifold. I am picking my Z up hopefully this Saturday so I wiil have more details once I have the parts in hand. If anyone is interested let me know. The guy I got the engine from also has a cmplete body from either a 72 or 73 240z that he is selling as well as a bunch of misc parts from that Z and from a 75 280z. He is sending me a list so when I get the list I will put the items on the site so we can look at what is available. Chris

I think I would run a pre muffler if not it would be like a drag car. It probably would burn out the resonators pretty fast to. Where do you find all those ANSA tips? They dont even offer anything like it on http://www.ansaautomotive.com/index.html Thats why I was looking at Pacesetter or Hooker they have those at Summit racing. Iam sure there are others I just have to do some more searches. I have used Pacestter before and I do like them and there not that expensive. I have a complete TFX (pacesetter) header and exhaust system on my Jeep Wrangler and it sounds good. Well i told my wife that August was exhaust month so we will see. Her birthday is end of July so that might put a HUGE dent in my wallat. Oh well Ill manage. My new engine should be in and running by tomorrow (cross my fingers). If the Z gods are listening please help my engine run strong. I will give an update when its done.

I read that thread back when you posted it thats how I figured those were yours on e-bay. Do the turbo tips from vic brit sound like ANSA? Probably not but I dont have a lot of choices. I have found pacesetter, hooker, and a few others but not sure which I will get. I wish there was a thread that had all the exhaust sounds for z cars.

I saw those on e-bay and thought they were yours. That is what I want in fact thats the brand I want to. I didnt buy because I am putting an L28 in my 260z as we speak and didnt have the extra $$ to do it now but man I really wanted to. Lets see cool ANSA tips or my wife? Hum? ahh? well the tips wont rust but they both sound dam sexy when they scream. Its a close one but I have to pick the wife haha. Seriously thats what Im looking for when Im ready. Hopefully I will do this in August. I want to make sure the new engine is running strong first and then the new exhaust is next.

Well the sound is why I want the twice pipe set up but Iam not willing to give up any power. I think I will end up taking my Z to the custom stainless guy and see what we can come up with. If a single pipe is in fact better for low end power then I think I would try a single with a glass pack and then maybe dual resonated tips like the pace setter or something.What I really want is something that would come out and then angle up a bit but Iam not sure where to find them.

But does it feel like a loss of power? I think I might try a single 2 1/2" into dual glasspacks. I cant see why this wont work but Im not sure thats why I am asking. Thanks for the reply

The add says if you want more power this is the system to get. On Hybrid Z I read there that you lose 10HP and lose a lot of low end torque. Is this true? Who here has the system and what do you think? Is the sound as good as I here it is? Has any one run a single pipe and finished with dual glass packs? Would that give the sound with out the loss of power?Thanks Chris
