Hello from Germany / Brabus-City
Welcome to the forum. Keep searching, you'll find more info than you know what to do with. For an overview of the history of the 240Z, go here. Based on your location, it may be easier/cheaper to locate a good 260Z. Same body and engine design but 2.6L vs 2.4L as well as some other small improvements and add'l features. If you're all about driving and enjoying the car the experience is much the same for the 240 260, & 280Z. Each a little more refined and a little heavier as a result. The 240Z is the true no frills sports car. Good luck in your search.

Halfshaft swapping
I suggest using a closed end wrench to avoid rounding off the nuts. There's not a lot of room in there to recover from this should it occur. I can tell you that many closed end wrenches will be too big around the nut opening to fit in that small space. If I recall correctly, I couldn't get my Craftsman combination wrench's closed end in there and had to use a Snap-On wrench I happened to have. Before trying again, give them several good soakings with a quality penetrant like Aero Kroil or somehting of that nature. If that doesn't work, some well placed heat might help break the nuts free.

I was referring to the linkage that connects the linkage you have(firewall to manifold), to the linkage between the carbs.

What's wrong with the 280's?
Holy crap man! Pardon the pun. Get your mind out of the toilet, whoops sorry again. Seriously though, by the time the 1973 240Z came around, the real HP in SAE was more like 129hp due to the change in heads, manifolds, and the flat tops. The bore and stroke done to the L6 in the 260 brought it bak up to 139hp and the L28 in the 280 up to 149. Of course the 280 was a lot heavier that the original 240.

Engine Swap?
It's all been done. You will find more info on that sort of stuff over at www.hybridz.org. Most of us here are into keeping things a bit more on the "classic" side.

Go here for more photos of the original burial ceremony and the seemingly uneventful unburial. http://buriedcar.myphotoalbum.com/albums.php

Results at Canby? Pictures...
That's the one. Kind of hard to tell without being able to see inside since most of the outer indicators are gone. Now that I look a bit closer, I can just make out the rear 260Z badge and the data plate location. I'm calling this a wolf in sheep's clothing and a 240 wanna be but I still love it.

Hard decision...
Don't forget to factor the price of fuel into the mix, especially if it will be used for commuting. In my opinion, a V8 is not the best choice for a starving student unless it's the kind you can drink.

Ravin has a newby question.
I though I read somewhere that the towing speed for autos was even less than 20 mph and only for a few as in 2-3 miles but I can;t find that info now. Whatever you do, don't forget to take it out of park......:stupid:

TONS of new pictures!!!
Yeah! Pictures! You have some nice shots in there. Personally I like this one the best since it shows your love for the Z. Man that front bumper really needs some love too. Maybe it's just twisted or loose on the mounts. Get'er done!

I like the way you think. If only you were a few years older a little closer.

Looks to me like you're gonna need some linkage depending on what's on the SUs now, as well as a fuel rail which is missing. See pics for some clues.

great touch-up paint!
Bummer, they don't carry the 114 Brown Metalic either, however they do carry the Imperial Jade Mica for my 4runner.

Don't worry too much, I doubt you'll get your asking price of $650 for a single NOS tail light, no matter how many pictures you post of it.

Fresh pics of my new baby...
Very nice Darbji. Looks pretty clean. Thanks for sharing. is it just the angle of the pic, or does that front bumper need some attention? You know you can replace those big old things with earlier bumpers for a cleaner look if you want. P.S. Sorry Stephen, I know you love your boat anchors.

The cars are looking great guys! E's headlight covers make me jealous every time I see them. I hate you E! I especially love that shot of Dave's engine compartment. And who's beautiful sapphire blue 240Z is that? I think I'm in love.
