That is one sweet Z. Sorry to hear you have decided to get rid of it, but I'm sure someone will appreciate it. So what will you be spending your time on now?

Congrats on your mini run. I'm sure that will go a long way towards keeping you motivated. Take care of any structural rust problems as soon as possible and get her back out there for another run!

Nice job guys. I can't wait to see some more pics.
  4. So, am I gonna have to worry about rolling my fenders with 15x7 Rewinds, 225/50-15 Yokohama ES1000's, and a 1" drop? My understanding was that I would be fine with this size tire, rim, stock strut housings as well as the drop. I'm using the Tokico red springs. I really don't want to have to roll the fenders...
  5. In addition to that, I belive the early 73's only received the elec pump as one part of the multipart dealer fix for the vapor lock issues seen with the flat top carbs. I can tell you that mine has the elec pump but it looks like it was added on later.
  6. Nice! I love the gold tuner kit w/locks. It looks like Summit has them for $75. Should look nice withe the gold rims and they may even have a larger taper area than the ones I got from Gabriel and hopefully a better fit.
  7. You're a sick man. You have it bad. Real bad.

Welcome to the club. You came to the right place if you are interested in learning all you can about the 240. Sounds like you got one of the early ones and at the right price. I don't think there are too many 1 owner 70's out there any more. Happy hunting.
  9. Actually it's just shy of that at 2-21/32" which works out to 2.656" or 67.468mm on the most narrow part of the hole, which is kind of hard to gauge. See the following post for a pic: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showpost.php?p=191812&postcount=6
  10. Update!!! The counterbore is roughly 68mm depending on where you measure from. The measurement I took was using a flat edge and done by eye as 2-21/32" which works out to 2.656" or 67.468mm on the most narrow part of the hole, which is kind of hard to gauge. Update: I attached a better pic from the SLR.
  11. Santa came early! I went with gold rather then bronze. They should look nice with the brown paint and gold pin stripes. I also purchased the lug and stem kit along with the wheels, but it turned out that they are the tuner lugs and don't seem to fit the taper of the mounting holes very well. Certainly not like a full acorn style lug which has a larger tapered surface. Gabriel says it's not an issue but I am skeptical. Anyone else feel this way or have any issues with this?
  12. Which car are we talking about here and is it stock height or lowered. (Nevermind, I found it in your gallery) I just grabbed some 15x7 Rewinds and was considering the same tires. I have a 1973 that will be lowered 1" using the Tokico red springs.
  13. Yep, been there, Googled that. I was hoping for something more head on and mounted but I'm afraid that the best I'm gonna get. At any rate, I've decided to go with my first instinct with the solid gold rims at this point, besides, tehy shipped already. I'll post pics when they arrive. It may be a few weeks before I get them mounted.
  14. Does anyone have the solid bronze rewinds, and if so, do you have any pictures handy of a straight wide shot so I can do some photo chopping to see which look better on my brown 240z? Solid Bronze or sold gold.

I recognized it and the intended humor right away. Nice job there Arne. Kinda sad that I'd recognize the cars but not the owners if I ever saw them.
  16. There's some information here and this is a good place to start: http://zhome.com/ However this topic has also been covered here on the board and a dimple search for rust will produce many results.
  17. #64079 - God damn politicians! I wish they'd stop trying to legislate the "social ills of America" and focus on things that will make a difference and the things we'd all like to see them focus on. i.e.(Schools, crime, inflation, taxes to name a few)

Congrat Arne, a very nice find. It reminds me of when I picked up mine. A one owner, always garaged car in excellent condition with..........a sinroof. Not a typo. In the end, the rest of the car outweighed the negative of the sunroof and do far, I've been more then happy with it. The original paint has a lot of chips and defects but like yours, is still in relatively good condition. A little polishing brought it back to life as it will yours. http://jaderunner.com/Gallery/240Z-First-Polish
  20. If it looks nice and is pleasing to the eye, it is eye candy to me. And I don't mean to take anything away from the improved functionality or performance that an item provides, only to say that it is pretty as well.

Yes, that price definietly seems more than a bit on the high side. Maybe by as much as $3000-4000 dollars. Without seeing it it's hard to say for sure but considering that it is a later model with high mileage, and assuming it's clean, I'd start at $4000 and go from there. Personally, I wouldn't go a cent over $6000 and it would have to be in extremely good condition with absolutely no rust (hidden under fresh paint) or otherwise. Oh yeah....take your time and find the right one. Don't be in a rush or you'll wind up paying too much or getting more then you bargained for.

Hey there! Welcome to the site. You won't blend into the crowd so easily with the Z.
  23. The driver definietly plays a role but the body is pure sex!
  24. That's just stupid. Why crush the brown one when the yellow one, almost completely devoid of parts is just taking up space. Apparently it's a matter of where the cars are located and not what value they actually have. That's no way to run a business IMHO. The brown one had an excellent body save one quarter panel with almost no rust and a whole buttload of excellent parts incl all the glass!. And to add insult to injury, it had a new gas tank which they of course poked a huge hole in right off the bat. This jsut makes me sick.
  25. There was actually 2 1973 240Z's at Moss landing as of a few weeks ago. The ugly yellow one is probably the one that got crushed, but there's another to the right as you go in that is almost complete. I believe it had both bumpers, hatch, FL 1/4 panel, clean glove box door, rear finish panel, RR tail lens assy, LF & FR turn lens assy, and more. I yanked a complete 280Z rear susp from this one incl. moustache bar and R200/3.54. I ended up returning the R200/3.54 which is a shame cause it goes in a bin that probably gets sent to the steel recycler. And then there's a also a 260Z with an L28/N42 w/flat tops near where the ugly yellow 240 is or apparently was. It is nearly complete as well. Looks like it quit running. All body panels are there except for the hood. Seats are in OK condition. Good glove box. I grabbed the retracting seat belts. And lastly, there's the 81 280ZX 2+2 I yanked the motor, tranny & R200/3.9 from which has 2 iron cross rims attached to it.
