My understanding is that lockers, and maybe limited slips are actually detrimental in the snow, due to the fact that they tend to force the vehicle to move in a straight line more so than an open diff would.

I just can't see the Z doing very well in the snow. And God forbid a snow storm comes through while up in the mountains. Seems to happen to me every time I go. With all the work I am putting into this car it would be a shame if I slid off the road into a snowbank or ditch, and even worse if some snow driving noob slammed into me because he doesn't understand Newton's first law of motion.

My suspension refresh was delayed for a few months due to the unusually crappy weather this winter, and is now stalled due to my crazy work schedule. All the suspension/drivetrain components have been blasted, refinished and/or rebuilt and are awaiting re-assembly. New Tokico HP strut inserts and red springs are ready to go in as well. The only thing keeping me from completing it now is a lack of free time and getting all the fasteners plated. The ignition system mods are complete including the upgrade to a 280ZX dizzy, MSD 6AL, Blaster II coil, and new Taylor Pro wires. Next comes the brake system. This will consist of a complete rebuild of all the stock components with upgrades coming later. The rebuild parts are all in. I will also be polishing up the Indy Mags. One is nearly complete. This is a dirty dirty labor intensive job. I decided to sand out all the lathe marks so this is adding additional time and work to the job. I just want to drive this damn thing for a few months before I rip into it again. !@#$%!

Man those thing are cherry. They look brand new.

I have a set as well but I have no interest in them. The Z will never see snow or rain if I can help it. That's what the 4runner is 4.

I have something similar but not quite the same. Aside from a bad color match and the asymmetrical mounting by the PO, I like the look of them.

Welcome to the site. There's plenty of ZXers on here to answer your questions. DOH!! Too many beers or not enough oxygen in the womb. Roll another 240ZX!

New plug wires and vacuum hoses, check all the grounds, the alt belt tension and run some injector cleaner through the system.

I can't remember the name of the item you are referring to but somebody will. I believe it is vacuum operated and connected to the throttle linkage. To test, try disconnecting the linkage or the vacuum hose from the throttle linkage. Anyway, here's a bump for ya.

To meet your goal of 200 MPH, I suggest both starting and finishing your college education first. Then go out and start your own business, work at it hard for 10 years beating all your competition into the ground, and opening several franchises. Then all you ahve to do is go out and buy a car that was built to do 200 MPH out of the box. Until then you're just a crazy teen with a pipe dream and delusions of grandeur.

Nice pointer Will. I didn't know about this search page. This will come in handy. Unfortunately, I couldn't figure out how to search for a 280Z moustache bar. I guess I'll just have to call around.
  14. Are you referring to the warranty card like the one in this pic, or something else?
  15. Damn I knew I hsa seen that before. And it's my favorite car, I just couldn't remember the name for some reason. guess I'm getting senile early. I got the Lancia part right too but didn't know what model.
  16. I got 29 out of the 50. I got the Make of the "grill" but I couldn't get the Model. Pic #10 is killing me. I know I've seen that but can't figure it out. I was sure it was a Vette but no.

Hey that sucks! Please tell me where so I can avoid this area if possible, or at least when the evil gromits are out of school.
  18. As in Banzai, or is this a play on the word bones?

Mine is currently down for a suspension/brake refresh, but it is a fine example of a well maintained, mostly original, low mileage, one owner, weekend driver with only some very minor surface rust on the undercarriage which is slowly dissapearing. Suspension refresh consists of refinishing all components and replacing shocks and springs with Tokico HPs and Tokico reds. It has an early 5sp and has recently received a 79-81 electronic dizzy, MSD 6AL w/Blaster II coil, and Taylor spark plug wires. now that it's stopped raining, I should be able to fininsh the job and get her back on the road. I can't wait.

Not sure what year this is and it doesn;t have labels for the connectors, but it may help nonetheless.
  24. To answer your question about the location of the fill port, it is located on the diff cover above and to the right of the drain port. All you need to fill the diff easily is a little pump that attaches to the top of a typical oil bottle. It has a pickup at one end that fits into the bottle, and a hose on the other end. Using this it only takes a few minutes to fill. I did both the diff and tranny in 10 min. You can get one at any auto parts store for $4-5. Even better would be one that had a crank/pump rather that a vertical piston/pump.
  25. Nice write up Carl. Very interesting. I'm left wondering how you even thought that one through. Too much time on your hands apparently.
