Ok, I may be regressing to my 1980's teen jargon but these cars are just gay. And while I'm at it, anime is gay too.
  2. Lovin' those fancy new choke cables. Kinda sets the rest of that bling off.

I hope this isn't where the custom industry is going, because if it is, I need to get me a grenade launcher. At least the blue one has an artistic flare. The green one is just wrong.

That is one nice Z. It's hard to believe that anyone could hang on to a car like this that long and drive it so little. I plan on putting lots of miles on mine. These things were made to be driven. IMHO
  5. Looks like this one from MSA: http://www.zcarparts.com/store/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=50-1402&Category_Code=7AD1

That's for sure. You can't exactly do a frame up resto on your body and be goo d as new at 30yrs old. Man I wish I could.

    Ummmmm.....yeah.
  8. Montoya I believe the search ID you are providing a link to is a randomly generated number that is either cookie based or simply goes away after a time. Anyway, it's simple enough to search for honda + blower as you suggested. I found out today that my blower is dead as well. I had never actually tried it. guess I'll add this to my to-do list.
  9. Ok, I'll bite too. This is a very subjective topic. I believe it's all in the eye, ear and seat of the beholder. Basically a matter of preference as stated above. There is no "better" in this case.
  10. I assume "nick" is Aussie slag for "good" or some other synonym?
  11. Thanks guys. In thinking it through it sounded feasible. I just wanted a sanity check. Kenny, that's pretty much how I envisioned doing it although I hadn't planned on jacking from the bell housing. Great idea. I wasn't sure the oil pan was strong enough to carry the weight of the motor once the crossmember was removed. I had planned on propping it up along the outer edge with some 4x4 stock. Sounds like it is. My floor jack is the 3+ ton SUV version from Sears. Unfortunately it has a small pad on it so I usually use a piece of 2x4 on it to spread the load and provide a softer surface for lifting. I have already stripped everything off except for the front crossmember, diff and assoc pieces, and the moustache bar. Painting is coming along slowly as weather and time of day are a factor since I have to work outside.
  12. I am in the process of refinishing all of the suspension components on my car and wanted to do the front crossmember while I had it all apart. Has anyone had success removing the crossmember while leaving the engine in the car? Do you think it would be possible to jack and block the engine up and remove the crossmember? I do not have acces to a engine hoist, and although I could rent one, I will have to get the crossmember bead blasted and painted before putting it back in so this would likely take a week or so and I don't want to rent a hoist for this long if I don't have to.

You assumed I was looking for a response from one of them. I was not. I know BambiKiller is gone. However, there are a couple thousand members on this board who might have a constructive comment regarding the switch I mentioned. Would you rather I start a whole new thread on this same topic?
  16. Beautiful car there Ronnie. Love the red paint and the wheels.

I found a toggle switch mounted to the passenger side of the center console as well. It doesn't seem to do anything though. I have not traced the wires yet as I have no reason to pull apart the dash yet. When I do I plan on trying to figure out what this was for. My guess is that it was a power antenna switch for a power antenna which no longer exists on the car. This is my best guess as there are no other power accessories that have been added to the car.

Sounds like you have this all figured out. I thought I'd add this. I found two of these exact type of relays mounted to the sidewall in the engine compartment near the coil onmy 240Z. Turns out that these were used as part of a funky alarm system that was toed into the door pin switches and an aaooogaahhh horn. The system was activated by flipping a switch mounted in a secret location. Basically all it did was activate the horn if someone opened the doors, hatch, or the hood. The horn has been removed and the rest will be removed/replaced at a later date including the relays.

That video has been around for years. Seen it many times on various "real video" type shows.
  22. First of all, I'm here in Denver freezing my a$$ off. Second, Go240Zags is right. Check out the Ztherapy site. They have a rebuild kit that includes nozzles, needles, jets and seals. they should also be able to provide the floats for you. However, you may want to consider using your carbs as a core and buying a set of rebuilt carbs from them and be done with it. One of the major problems with the stock SUs is that the throttle shaft bushings and shaft get worn and create a vacuum leak that can adversely affect performance and tuning. Unfortunately you can't effectively test this without the carbs mounted and the car running. Ztherapy can also sell you an air cleaner or an adapter to make yours fit. To save money, check eBay or your local junk yards. As a last resort, I know a junk yard that has one but it is buried under several engines and tough to get at or I would have grabbed it already. If you get desperate let me know and I'll see if I can help.

I believe the 82' dizzy may have come with the E-12-93 module and not the E-12-80 that you want. Do know which one you have? The numbers should be on the cover. There are plenty of threads on this topic in here. Just do a search.

I was merely pointing out something I found humorous. If I had known that quoting the post of someone's insane ramblings would decend into this sort of debate, believe me, I would never have bothered. Life's too short to sweat the small stuff guys. Therefore, I try to find humor in all that I can. Let's move on now and pretend that we're all perfect. I know I am.

Wow, I'm sorry I dug this thread back up. On to something more fulfilling.
