Fan clutch question
I've heard that the Ford Taurus or Mercury Sable fans are a decent swap. I think I read it over on Hybridz. Perhaps this test isn't a great idea for you to try anytime soon. :dead:

Heads and L28 Blocks
You can find the block number on the left or driver's side of the block down by the motor mount. If it's stock, I believe the L26 block is a P30, same as the L24. The difference between the two is a longer stroke on the L26. It wasn't until the L28 that the bore was increased. As for the E88, it can be made into a decent head by adding the larger 280Z valves and doing some porting. It all depends on your end goal. Lots of good info in this thread but lots more in the forum. Be sure to check out the search feature. It's the best place to start.

double din 260z
Nice job David. I believe that's the first one I've seen like that. Did you have any problems clearing the tunnel with the base of the head unit?

What S30 parts are the most difficult to find?
The parts that are the hardest to find are always the ones you want/need the most.

Greetings All
Welcome back to the world of Z cars and the forum. I'm very sorry to hear about your father. My condolences to you and your family.

weatherstripping
The door openings on the 2+2 are much larger than the non 2+2 cars so I doubt these kits will work. I'm not sure about the hatch, but since the roofline is higher I would guess that the hatch is longer as well. It might make sense to call around and ask if they offer a kit specific for the 2+2.

Dashboard before and after.
Looking good Juan! Are there specs of silver in there or is that just the camera flash causing that appearance?

280z mods vs 350z stock
I see this as a simple choice between a classic car and a high tech car. Either one will cost you plenty, but the 280Z will stand out more whereas the the 350Z will blend into the crowd of newer cars. If it were me, it would be a choice between the 240Z and the 300ZX (Z32). I've always disliked the rear of the 350Z from the rear and the side. It looks like a toad and is aptly named so by those who feel the same way.

Severe Vibration Through Shifter
Have you checked the u-joints for play or checked the bolts that hold the prop-shaft to the diff. If one of them is loose or missing, it could throw the whole thing off balance.

svannah z---say it ain't so!
That sucks that your dog is ailing, but it's refreshing to see that you put him/her before your material possessions. Please let us know what we can do to help out. Maybe there is a way to keep them both around.

Parts
You can get a replacement wire motor boot(bag) from www.classicdatsun.com. Check the Interior section. As Arne suggested, the best place for the snorkels is a recycling yard. Comin' at ya from Vegas!!!!

Check out my gallary
One of the factors to this cat phenomenon is probably directly related to the amount of time you spend with the Z. They probably feel comfortable in there because they see you in, on, under and around it all the time. Just my guess.

Welcome to the site. Good luck with your Z and thanks for your service to the country.

#357 hits eBay
I think they're confusing the air pump with an AC unit since it's diaplayed so prominently. I can't see any other reason to show that.

Suspension and Steering upgrade
Actually only one of the two is sealed, and only on the outer facing side so you could re-pack it, however they must be pressed off and then back on so most folks recommend replacing them. Mine looked new and came off so easy I could probably re-use them if I wanted. In your case, if they are already howling, it's time to replace them anyway.

No William Don't do it!
LMFAO, good one David!

beautiful beautiful 1978 280z on Ebay
That thing looks almost new except for the engine compartment. Did they use cosmoline..sp? on the engines of these cars back in 78?

What a great feeling.
Looking good Juan! Are you going to re-assemble it yourself? I'm always impressed when someone tears a car down to the bare shell and gets it all back together successfully. I'm good at stuff like this but have never actually done a project on that scale. Thinking about it makes my head spin. Have fun with that dash and let's see some pics in the dash repair thread when you're done.

Suspension and Steering upgrade
Here's an unused rebuild from MSA on eBay with all the trimmings: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290106174526 Also, the complete Energy Suspension bushing kit I bought from Summit came with only the front end links. I had to order some for the rear seperately. I bought them from www.suspension.com.

back fire!
Are you sure you wired the cap back up correctly. Here's a pic with the correct order courtesy of the Atlantic Z Car club

Tax Return = Engine Rebuild
Wow, if I could rebuild my engine for $360 I'd be all over it as well, but for what I'd like to do, that probably wouldn't even qualify as a down payment.

Hi
Congrats on you newly acquired Z. You'll find lots of great info and people on here, but if you've been lurking around I'm sure you figured that out already. Carl has some great advice there too. I might even consider it after nearly 25 years of driving with only 1 minor accident. Never hurts to be prepared, especially with all the idiots and distractions we have on the road now.

Restoration 1970 240 Z
Long delay!! That's a bit of an understatement don't you think? Glad to hear you finally got the project underway, and welcome back to the forum.
