  1. You're right. Absolutely unfathomable. Totally incredulous. Fantastically astounding. Ridiculously amazing. Superfluously stupendous and magnanimously superior! I too am at a total and complete LOSS for words. Now.

Sorry you had to get rid of your ride. Most of us will probably still be here when you break down and get a replacement for it. Till then, take care and do whatcha gotta do.

Sounds like you got poltergeists. Seriously though, the stalling and the grinding tranny are probably two seperate issues. Anyone else think this stalling issue might be a bad or loose connection at the voltage regulator, or a bad regulator? The tranny issue sounds like you've got some bent or out of adjustment shift linkage. Not sure though as I've never seen an auto Z tranny before.

Sorry to hear that. That really blows! May the offender's crotch be infested with the fleas of a throusand camels!
  5. I've never see it before but that's obviously not the original hood. Not sure of that's important to you or not. I guess it depends on if you're looking to do an all original restore or a visually accurate restore.
  6. Yeah, I think you should try Eastwood....oh and try Eastwood as well...and if they don't have it, maybe Eastwood does. ROFL
  7. If they were all riding bicycles, where did all the haze come from..........well it's a combination of industrial pollution, and believe it or not, a large portion is from open air cooking in the areas surrounding the large cities. Basically the slums, where there is no other form of energy other than wood, coal or garbage(paper) for cooking. This is apparently the single largest contributor to air pollution in China. Or so I read. As far as SUVs go for me personally, if I could do all of the things I need/want to do in a single econobox, I'd happily go out and buy one. Unfortunately, I can't load all of my camping gear into one and still have room for the occupants who would be joining me, it would be kind of hard to make it up some of the offroad trails I frequent for camping, fishing or just for the sake of geting away from it all, and I'm sorry, I'm not a yuppie so I can't afford to have a vehicle for each and every purpose that I might run into. When I can, perhaps I will, but until then, I need one vehicle that serves multiple purposes, an MPV, or SUV, call it what you will. Oh, and the Z of course, which is for pure pleasure. Try to take it away from me and you might not live to tell about it.
  8. Did you replace the original bushings with urethane? If so did you grease them well while installing? Urethane bushings will often squeek when installed dry.

Welcome to the site. Lot's of great info here. Make sure the rust isn't causing any structural issue with the car. Do a search here for rust and you'll find plenty of info. I think there's even a rust support group thread.
  10. These were actually packed quite well and not just the caps, so apparently yhey were redone at some point, although the grease was that cheap looking clear yellowish kind. I believe they were all marked Koyo.

Uhhhhh, I like the other thread better.
  12. . Good on ya mate! That'll teach him some manners.
  13. I ordered the aftermarkets from VB as well but was not impressed with the quality at all. I sent them back for a refund. I ended up using the original ones that were in the car. They may have been replaced at some point but they looked a lot better and there was noting wrong with them. Man there are a lot of little needle bearings in these things. I tore them down to nothing and rebuilt them, placing each of the 496 needle bearings back in by hand and packing them with heavy duty moly-graphite bearing grease.
  14. Honestly is was a mistype, but I thought it was so funny I had to leave it. ROFL ROFL
  15. What are some product names for wax and grease remover? I have asked at local HW stores and they look at me like they have never seen a dumb human before.

That's exactly what it is. 240SX apparently didn't read your original post closely enough. Well it won't measure power at the wheel but the nearest thing to a mobile measurement device that within most ppls budget is going to be a mobile accelerometer. These can give approximations of the sort of info, you;re looking for, but to get any kind of decent results you would likely have to input a fair amount of info such as air temp, relative humidity, weight of car with driver, figure tire slippage factor, etc. http://www.gtechpro.com http://www.beltronics.com/fx.html
  17. We have guys all over the Gay Area. Keep browsing and you'll find em. There also a Member List you can browse, all 290+ pages. Here's the regional forums although they are not very active. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=122 Edit: I just noticed I typed Gay Area...and Member in the same sentence. That was a total mistype of Bay Area, but since we're in such close proximity to San Fran, I guess it's appropriate, or at least kind of a funny coincidence. No offense intended to you alternative lifestyle folks out there.

You can straighten the needle by spinning it in a hand drill chuck at high RPM while pushing it against a rag held in your hand or on a bench. You will see the wobble while it's rotating. Use gentle steady pressure to straighten it out. I recommend a little oil to reduce the friction and minimize the possibility of wear on the needle. Use a clean rag.

What is the URL for this site. I went to cv4.net but their online catalog sucks and doesn't list any silicon hoses.

Which of course happens to be the ones I want. Perhaps this is due to liability reasons? Or perhaps SS is not well suited to the application due to metalurgical or stress factors? Anyone know?
