Wiper arm rubber boots wanted
I suspect my wiper motor is shot. In the process of removing the wiper arm and motor, I found that the rubber boots that protect the wiper arm pivots are perished to the point of no return. Does anyone know if they are still available? Or what else shoudl I use to weather proof the pivots? The location of the boots is hard to explain. They are under where the wiper arms attach to (what ever that little axle is called). They stick up out of the airvent grill. Cheers

No wiper blade action
Akir-ra. I've been searching for some info on wiper motor problems and came across your post. Since it has been so long since you posted, I guess that you've sorted out the problem. My wipers are very slow to move, I'm convinced it's the wiper motor in a sad state. I have removed the motor tonight and will pull it to bits tomorrow and have a gander. My bet is that it is probably stuffed full of 30 years of gunge/crud and crap. Looking at the wiper arm pivots all I could see was dust clinging to what is left of some grease. What did you find? Cheers

My first day as a Z owner
Welcome..... Sounds like you were lucky to get it home. A story to tell for a long time " The day I got my Zed" Well done and I'm sure you'll have more great yarns to spin.:classic:

5speed tranny
You'll need to fabricate a cluch pedal mount, put in a clutch master cylinder and mount, not sure if you'll need a new speedo cable but probably. Might be easier finding a firewall from a wrecked manual body. There a posts on this site regarding this so do a seach and see. Good luck

Hatches_1
Car is series 1 but these hatches have been retro fitted. A bit worried to find that the car wasn't original but now these are kind of handy....and whoever did the mod made a great job

2 brackets...what are they for?
You have me worried now. If they were retro fitted then the entire rear deck would have to been fitted. Someone help me sleep tonight!

2 brackets...what are they for?
Last pic of open hatch without vinyl liner. So those who have anything but a series 1 might have one over us "Optioned " owners. I wouldn't put any tools in these hatches as just imagine the noise when the tyre brace hits the jack every time you corner hard....no thanks.

2 brackets...what are they for?
Has anyone got a picture that they can post showing where these plastic lids fit. I still can't see where they fit. Maybe they are only for the series 2 model. I have vinyl liners under the hatch on my series 1. It looks stock as they are very old and are showing their age. They come out really easy as the contact adhesive is shot. Looks as though the design team lost interest under the hatches or too busy to get the series 1 out on time. Digital camera is out this morning and I'll post some pictures of what mine looks like later today (if I can win the battle with the PC) :classic:

2 brackets...what are they for?
It was taken me 12 months to get back on email so I fear that it will take longer to get my digital camera taking to my "Noahs Ark" PC. But I'll post the pics I have as soon as I can. I have only metal hatch lids (with the 90 degree thumb twisty lever). Under the hatches is a space where a tool box would go. From what I am reading now from your previous posts is that I don't have these tool boxes. I just have the original hatches. So I guess that the plastic tool box lids and not the metal hatches are what the brackets are for. In answer to your other question. Yes I have the hand throttle complete (cable broken). I will not be fixing it as it is the single most dangerous thing in the car. I don't have the side mounted indicators that I think you are referring to. It only have front and rear indicators (amber of course). It has the original engine and head (E31...off car in some need of repair/rebuild/sale), E88 on it at the moment and I haven't driven any other 240's so I wouldn't know the difference between a E31 or E88 headed ride or not.

rear hatch deck panel wanted
My rear hatch deck is rusted to the point of no return. I need a new panel. I am ever hopefull that I will be able to buy on off the shelf somewhere on this planet, but I am equally resolved in knowing that I might be pushing that stuff up hill in asking. Since this is a very common rust point on all early Zed's, is there a source for replacement panels??? Or am I better off getting one made from scratch? Thanks

2 brackets...what are they for?
Directly behind both seats in my 71 240Z are two brackets. They have a threaded hole in the centre. They are located half way up on the vertical panel before the top lip of the rear deck. What are they for???? Got me stumped! Cheers

NewZealand
Cameron, They do appear from time to time, but finding one in good nick for low $ will be a challenge. Keep looking on the trade and exchange website. They appear in there on a regular basis. Beware that you will see some ads for a 280Z. Actually these are more likely to be 280ZX's so ask them the year and model number to make sure you don't waste your time Good luck and take your time.....lots of it.

240/260z Magazine articles
I picked up a 1996 edition of NZ Classic Car yesterday at a classic car show here in Christchurch, NZ. Front cover features a 240Z. 6 page review of a restored 72 240Z. If you want a photocopy, then PM me and I'll send you one. By the way....no 240Z/260z/280z's at all. No Z's at all. Mainly full of US and UK cars. Had a Fiat Dino though....yum yum... Ferrari 2 litre V6...triple IDA's...260BHP...yum yum. Maybe next year there will be a 240Z there...maybe mine. There were 2 1200 coupe's in the car part thought...just got to love the jet-fighter rear quarter air intakes...classic Dastun (Yes I did used to have one a long long time ago, less rust than my 240Z).

Tell Me Yours I Want To Know
Steve, The interior is black. Has 5 speed. Original colour from what I can tell is a metalic burgandy. The rad has been recored and the paint code sticker has long gone. Any ideas as to it's original colour? Wouldn't mind knowing. Cheers

Trying to trace footwell water leak
Cheers Steve, Yes...I need to keep it going as it will be our 2nd car and I just love the smile it puts on my face. Went for a blast around the Port Hills here in Christchurch (actually an extinct volcano) with a summit road that runs half way around the top. Just the ticket for a Sunday blast. Lots of tight corners and ups and downs....yum yum. Used to be my favourite motorcycle route when I had my RGV. Anyway...I have given myself 2 years to get it to what I consider good. Here's wishing me luck...I'm goin to need it.

RHS door handle wanted
Managed to break off the metal arm on the door handle that attaches to the door lock rod. Either I need a new handle or maybe someone can let me know if they have made a suitable fix If anyone has a spare handle that they want to part with, let me know:love:
