that would be a 72/73 240z with the California Wing, the Classic Skirt (rear), with what looks to be the Flexible Urethane side skirts. All the chrome trim has also been blacked out.

quite a nice lookin car you got there! good find and enjoy!
  4. im slightly confused with the problem. Mine sounds like is red-lining at 4500 (load of smoke comes out the pipe too)...not like its losing a spark or starving for fuel, would the air/fuel system make a difference in that at all?
  5. mine does the same thing...and the other day the whole ignition system just shut down for no reason, had to take it into the mechanic...but that still didnt fix it.
  6. wanna sell me one of those front overriders 2many?

heres a better shot of the car with better lighting...it really shows the redness of the paint.
  16. the swap is supposed to be pretty simple. The best conversion kit is from Jags That Run. The kit is for a small block 350, it drops to engine and mounts is up against the firewall for better weight distribution. You would need to get a new driveshaft made and the only transmission that goes in without modification is the Checy Turbo 350 (3-speed auto)...but if ur gonna do the V8, i feel that automatic takes away all the fun. Be forewarned...itll be one helluva beast with a V8
  17. it may very well be possible but i dont recommend it. The L24 (240z engine) was not made for turbocharging like the L28(280z engine). The L28T was reinforced with some weird stuff in the block, giving it the strength to handle the extra boost provided by the turbo and the L24 just doesnt have a very strong block. Another this is fuel systems...the L24 had the dual carbs whilst the L28 is injected. Carbs and a turbo are not the best combination, the lack of precise devlivery (and possibly lack thereof at high rpms) can counteract the effect of the boost. If you wanted to turbo you should go with the L28T or consider a Skyline engine.

u can tell what series your car is by your VIN...HLS30-00501 up through HLS30-21001 was the Series I. Also, if you have the rear hatch vents, then you have a Series I. And another, look at your speedometer, if it starts at 20mph its a Series I. http://zhome.com/History/New71Late.htm that will tell you the differences between Series I and II. Hope it helps!
  20. all the logos between the 72 and 71 are the same, except for the C-pillar logo. on the 71 its a 240z and from 72 onwards its just a round Z. Anything you have would be greatly appreciated!

baddog - the guy i bought it from says they are the original seats, they have just been re-upholstered. Ill have to find out for certain. ivan - as far as i know everything is original inside (except for my stereo setup and the wheel). all the electrical works (cept the clock) including the rear defroster. alfadog - i dont know if they changed anything in the console for the Series II or not. If yours is a Series II, then it very well may be that things changed between my Series I and your Series II. If uve got a Series I let me know...i would like to find out if its my car or your car thats different. Also, the guy bashed up the bumper and grill with the tow hitch of his truck. He was backing out of the garage and forgot about the Z (how could he???) and the hitch just drove the bumper back into the grill. No body damage (cept the bumper and grill of course) because the truck never hit the car, only the tow-hitch hit. marty - the car has 30k on a rebuilt engine (original) and still has the original 4-speed. The paint job is only 1 month old, the receipt shows a $900 paint job. Everything on the interior is stock (cept the wheel) and in pristine condition, it just has a half-dash cover. I have the original wheel from my old Z and plane to recondition is and stick it in there. Thats all i can think of for now, just post any more questions...

2manyZs...not so often do u see a car like that for $2700 (thats all i paid for it!!!). I looked at some real POS cars, but im sure the the Z's are better out here. i am going to be building a new box that actually replaces the entire rear panel...mine just sits in front of it right now. Once i build the new one i will certainly post the dimensions for u guys.

heres a shot of my 4 6x9 speakers. I built a Motorsport-like box in the rear and 2 boxes behind the seats pointed at an angle towards the front.
