Well, it all that looking and waiting finally paid off. On Sunday I drove down to San Diego and picked up my 71 Series I 240z with VIN HLS30-07878. Everything except the electronic ignition and radio is stock. I wired up a pretty nice sound setup too the day i got it. All it needs is a front grill and front bumper. Just take a look for yourself! You can be sure this one wont roll!
  3. only on a 300zx....
  4. im looking at a Z tonight for $1500. All around its in pretty good condition but she says that there is some rust on the quarter panels...is that an easy/cheap fix? Should i be concerned about it? I am going to repaint the car soon, so i guess i could just get replacements. I am going to check the obvious rust spots. Any thoughts?

my friend built a wood cover for the spare-tire well and put a sub (not sure how big) in the well pointing upwards...it sounded killer. he also lined the well with some thick, carpet-like stuff so it didnt have a metallic sound to it. pretty nice but alot of work...but those bass tubes are pretty sweet also
  18. dont like the look of it...and also youll have a hard time running 10.5 compression on normal fuel....10.5 is about the max that street fuel can run.
  19. were are you planning to put the speakers? the Sony XPLOD series is awesome for in-door speakers and also if you put 2 6x9's in a MSA like box (i had built my own). the SOny XPLOD also has one of the best amplifiers on the market. they will all work with the Alpine HU.
  20. some more details would be nice...rust, color and all that other stuff.
  21. Hey all. My name is Grant, im 16 and live in Orange County, CA. I WAS a proud owner 72 240z until the big accident and am currently on the prowl for one right now. The first time I saw a 240z, at age 10, i decided that i was going to buy that car no matter what. Summer rolled around after my 16th birthday and i worked my arse off, saved just enough and got a crazy deal on a 240z. It didnt have much done to it yet, but the previous owner had put Toxico struts, Eibach springs, anti-sway bars, 280zx 5-speed, electronic ignition, and NO rust or bondo (thats what you get on Southern California ) I had that Z for about 5 monthgs and the original L24 threw a rod, I couldnt find another L24, so i decided on a 82 L28 i found for $300. I had if for TWO days with the L28 when i rolled her, that was probably the worst day of my life, i loved that car and i was proud of it. All the car guys at school loved it and i got so many compliments from people at stop lights and gas station, but thats all over now . Oh well...thats it about me, nothing interesting yet! Grant

i had an Alpine HU model number CDE-7856. i had no apparent problem slipping it into the stock hole without cutting, but no guarantees. i dont know if the hole was previously modified or not (but the radio did look like the stock radio) if it doesnt fit, just take her back.

i was using an Alpine HU in my Z. i dont know what the exact model is right now, ill find the box and let u know. i also built my own version of the MSA box for two 6x9's...the bass is pretty good without a subwoofer in it.

has anyone done the MSA power windows conversion (internal), for the 240z? I am interested in doing this when i get my next Z, however there are a few questions in my mind... 1) how difficult is the installation? 2) where is the switch wired to? 3) are they efficient? (moving speed) 4) disadvantages?
  25. what does a "european tone" sound like. ive hear the term used before but i am curious as to what it is. any examples?
