My ZED was awarded in Stowe car show last week-end!!!!!
Is that paint colour a factory colour? It's supposed to be Orange 918 from datsun, 1972. or did you respray it? YES IT WAS REPAINTED 5 YEARS AGO And you mentioned that the front air damn is factory (or close too), do you have any references to which years it was installed or if it was used in any racing? THE FRONT AIR DAM IS FROM MSA, NOT INSTALLED AT THE DEALERSHIP. IT WAS ON THE CAR WHEN I BOUGHT IT. Thanks for the nice word on the car, yours is a beauty also! :cheeky:

Oil Change, Men Vs Women!!!
Oil Change instructions for Women: 1) Pull up to "Jiffy Lube" when the mileage reaches 3000 miles since the last oil change. 2) Drink a cup of coffee. 3) 15 minutes later, write a check and leave with a properly maintained vehicle. Cost: * Oil Change $20.00 * Coffee $1.00 * Total $21.00. Oil Change instructions for Men: 1) Go to auto parts store and write a check for $50.00 for oil, filter, kitty litter, hand cleaner and a scented tree. 2) Discover that the used oil container is full. Instead of taking it back to O'Reilly's to recycle, dump it in a hole in the back yard. 3) Open a beer and drink it. 4) Jack car up. Spend 30 minutes looking for jack stands. 5) Find jack stands under kid's pedal car. 6) In frustration, open another beer and drink it. 7) Place drain pan under engine. 8) Look for 9/16 box end wrench. 9) Give up and use crescent wrench. 10) Unscrew drain plug. 11) Drop drain plug in pan of hot oil: get hot oil on you in the process. 12) Clean up mess. 13) Have another beer while watching oil drain. 14) Look for oil filter wrench. 15) Give up; poke oil filter with screwdriver and twist off. 16) Drink another Beer. 17) Buddy shows up; finish case of beer with him. No, drank it all yesterday 21) Walk to 7-11 to buy more beer. 22) Install new oil filter making sure to apply a thin coat of oil to gasket surface. 23) Dump first quart of fresh oil into engine. 24) Forgot to re-install drain plug from step 11. 25) Hurry to find drain plug in drain pan. 26) Discover that the used oil is buried in a hole in the back yard along with drain plug. (IDIOT!!) 27) Drink beer. 28) Uncover hole and sift for drain plug. 29) Discover that first quart of fresh oil is now on the floor. 30) Drink beer. 31) Slip with wrench tightening drain plug and bang knuckles on frame. 32) Bang head on floorboards in reaction to step 31. 33) Begin cussing fit. 34) Throw wrench. 35) Cuss for additional 10 minutes because wrench hit Miss December(1992) in the left boob. 36) Beer. 37) Clean up hands and forehead and bandage as required to stop blood flow. 38) Beer. 39) Beer 40) Dump in three fresh quarts of oil. 41) Beer. 42) Lower car from jack stands. 43) Accidentally crush one of the jack stands. 44) Move car back, apply more kitty litter to fresh oil spilled during step 23. 45) Beer. 46) Test drive car. 47) Get pulled over: arrested for driving under the influence. 48) Car gets impounded. 49) Make bail. 50) Get car from impound yard. Cost: * Parts $50.00 * DUI $2500.00 * Impound fee $75.00 * Bail $1500.00 * Beer $25.00 * Total-- $4150.00 * But you know the job was done right! :sleepy: :tapemouth :dead:

My engine rebuilt
WELL, what a week.. My engine is being rebuilt this week. It did look as it would be an easy job... Listen: 1. The cam was broken at one end..so we had to fit a new one (260Z) 2. There was a piece of the valve guide that did get loose at one point and was floating on the top of piston #3... but just a small dent 3. The car was running with the head gasket of a 280ZX (NOW I KNOW WHY IT WAS OVERHEATING) 4. My 240Z 72 has flat piston.. not the curved ones on the top.. 5. There was a broken bracket on the radiator (new one and clean-up) 6. My oil pump was almost dead (so I didi put a bigger one from a 28-ZX Turbo) 7. Timing chain had to be changed (the whole kit from Nissan) 8. Oil rings worned (brand new ones) 9. Clutch master cylinder as well as the sleeve were dead... 10. I had a bad vaccum leak (new vaccum installed) 11. New connecting rod bearing installed As for the rest: My head was ok, and it's now port and polished. I did put an electronic ignition (no more points top take care of) as weel as 2 round K'N filters. Can't wait to see the bill on the car....and I'm going on holiday this week-end...... :sleepy: :stupid:

Horsepower vs. Torque?
hÉ HÉ!!! THis is why I put it in my signature.. HP sells, Torque moves!!!:stupid:

Horsepower vs. Torque?
There u go: HORSEPOWER Definition: A unit of measure for quantifying power output. Invented by James Watt, the term was originally used to describe how much effort a horse exerted when lugging coal out of a coal mine. One horsepower was the amount of effort one horse put forth in raising 33,000 lbs. one foot in one minute. Engine horsepower ratings are determined on special equipment (See Dynamometer), and are usually expressed as so much "brake" horsepower (the amount of horsepower the engine actually delivers after internal friction and parasitic loses are taken into account). TORQUE Turning or twisting force such as the force imparted on the drive line by the engine. Usually measured in lb-ft. It differs from work or power in that torque does not necessarily produce motion. Basically, the magnitude of a torque acting on a body is the product of the magnitude of a force and its force arm (perpendicular distance from the axis of rotation of the body to the line of action of the force). This product is called the moment of the torque about the axis or the torque. Usually, torque goes with this also: Pound-Feet The unit of measurement for torque (for example, 132 lb-ft @ 4800 rpm), which is a gauge of an engine's power. One pound-foot is equal to the twisting force produced when a one-pound force is applied to the end of a one-foot-long lever. HOPE IT HELPS YOU !!!

Air Dam questions
Well, the pic was taken by one of my friend! I like this shot. As for the airdam, well, the road sucks so much in Quebec, that, YES, I do take care when I drive, as well as if other people in their cars were a threat for me!!!! It was already on the car when I bought it, but it's from MSA, and was installed in a body shop I guess. It was easy to fix (for my carpet incident), and since my car is really low, I do have to pay attention also to the front and underneath, since my exhaust rubs sometimes... Just to have get used to it for the look it gives, it's ok for me! Good luck with yours!:classic:

Air Dam questions
Mine is in fiberglass, and I did to repainted it this summer since I run over a freaking carpet (long story) left in the middle of a bridge.. But it's pretty stable.

Honk if you drive a Z, or Where's the love?
Nope, cos the reason is I don't see a lot of them in Mtl, but I do pass notice in fact..But I do wave at guys with old cars and muscle cars, and they do usually the same! Even when riding with my GF, there is a lot of lady that do take a look at me...hum, I mean the ZED of course.. It gives me a little inner smile!!!!!:sleepy: :classic:
