  1. I own a 1976 2+2 with an automatic transmission. The motor is a little tired so I bought a running motor from an aquaintance at work to use as a transplant. He pulled the motor because he is installing a turbo motor from a ZX. The motor I bought has been in his car with a 4 speed. It has a stage 2 cam in it. My question is: Will the motor work with the automatic transmission, or will the cam cause the motor to not idle well? If I was driving the car I would be less concerned, but the car is my daughter's and I really don't want her having to drop the car into neutral every time she stops. Thanks, Gary
  2. Or anywhere in Western Washington for that matter?

Thanks for the clarification on the bumpers Steve. I guess I could have looked at the galleriy and figured it out if I was not so lazy. I understand about the hassle of putting the correct bumpers back on, but I assumed it would be more expensive to straighten and recrome, or even replace the current ones. Anyone have a ballpark figure for this activity? Ummm...I really would rather not put ZX bumpers on it...is that even possible? Gary

I know this sounds backwards, but I am considering reinstalling the correct bumpers 0n the '76 2+2. The ones on the car now are supposedly from a 240 and I like the look, but they are a little banged up. Is there anyone that has 280z bumpers laying around that would be willing to part with them at a reasonable price? As a bonus(?) I might be willing to trade the 240z bumpers (if that is what they are). You can see what they look like in my gallery. Gary
  5. Since winter is coming on I need to start figuring out what is wrong with the heating system in our 76 280Z 2+2. The fan switch works great, but the air will only blow out of the vents in the front of the dash, neither the defroster or floor vents will work. I have examined the switch linkages and everything seems to be hooked up properly and functions normally. The other issue I am having is that the air that does blow out does not seem to have any trace of heat in it no matter how warm the engine is. If anyone can help with either of these issues or point me to a thread I would appreciate it! Gary

  8. I like the early cars 240-280 a lot and have since I was a kid. I really like the later 300zx and the 350z is the sexiest car on wheels. Unfortunately, the designers of the 280zx and the early 300zx somehow lost their way. Not that I would mind having either one, they just don't have the "gotcha factor" that the other years have.
  9. Hey guys, it was the switch! I took it off the column and looked at the contact that rides the back of the steering wheel hub. It was black with crud, so I used a scotchbrite pad on it and put it back together. The signals work great now! Thanks for all the advice.
