  1. So the reality is that I've been viewing the cirucuit backwards. I'll ditch the painless power feed and start from there. Thanks!
  2. SteveJ: Thanks for taking the time to explain it more to me. My setup is a little different - I'm using a 280Z switch with the Honda wiper motor upgrade. I spent the day working through it and have made some - just a little - progress. Due to the painless harness, I'm not using the ground on the combo switch - that's what was causing the fuse to blow as you had stated. Currently, I have low speed wipers working. The problem is that the wipers are parking in the up position and I have no high speed. I'm using the write up on the Honda upgrade as my pattern, but something isn't right. The way that the write up suggests wiring the high speed is directly to the Honda motor, not through the relay. I'm not sure I understand why. It seems that the high speed should be run through the relay as well, right? Any further thoughts? I appreciate the help you've given me already. Bryan Dat240zg
  3. Guys: I am working on the wipers on my Z and striking out big time. Problem is this: the Z has been rewired with a "Painless" - there's a laugh - wiring harness. It has one wiper power feed. I'm using a 280Z combo switch. I have searched but can't get them to work. From what I've been able to find, the wires are as follows: Blue/White & Blue/Red = Windshield washer Yellow/Green = Wiper power feed Red/Blue = High Speed Yellow/Black = Low Speed Blue/Yellow = Intermittent Black = Ground I have the Painless wiper power feed running to the Yellow/Green wire, but it blows the fuse as soon as I turn it on. Would someone be willing to set me straight on how to wire this? I'm even willing to throw someone $20 bucks to help me get this wiper wiring squared away. Thanks much. Bryan Dat240zg
  4. Gents: I'm looking to repeat this setup:
  5. Thought that someone in the area may be interested: Http://miami.craigslist.org/pbc/cto/2815603199.html. Don't know anything about it, but at $875 it would be worth it in early Z parts alone!
  6. Anyone have a junk harness that they wouldn't mind chopping a little more? I'm in need of a nice ignition switch plug with about 6 - 8 inches of wire on it. If you can help me, please give me a pm/shout/email. Thanks much, Bryan Dat240zg 240Z #248

  14. I was wondering when someone would post up my ad for #248. Mike is right, rodstoration is the best description of the car, but everyone is not as familiar with that term. Several things to mention: Compared to other early Z cars, I'm looking for a sizeable chunk of coin. Compared to other street rod/pro street type cars, I'm asking less when comparing build level to build level (and still asking substantially less than what my receipts for the build total). I strongly believe that the values for low vin 240Z's is way low. While that makes it great for owners, it makes it hard to justify financially committing to a complete, 100% stock restoration. (Believe it or not, we actually figured it out dollar wise and it was going to be cheaper to rod-store the Z, than to take it back to stock not to mention that the motor and tranny were'nt available). I highly respect and appreciate those guys that restore their z's down to the correct zinc plating. I'm aware of several people who have restored their Z's and have put in similar amounts of money, their cars just aren't for sale and typically money isn't discussed. Mine wouldn't be either if it weren't for a beautiful little 9 month old daughter and the (sadly late) realization that family/relationships are always more valuable than things. FWIW, Bryan Dat240zg
  15. Guys: #248 is done - finally!!! I'm cleaning out the garage and the parts that I had left over have been listed in the classifieds. There are several very early vin # specific parts listed. If you would like pics or have questions, shoot me an email at dat240zg@gmail.com. BTW, while I recognize that not everyone will appreciate #248's rodstoration, if you'd like to see the final result, follow the link: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=142984&highlight=248 Have a great one. Just to clarify, many of the original stock parts were missing, including the motor and tranny, so a stock restoration was not practical. Bryan

Do you mean like the picture that I posted? If so, would you mind posting pics of them? Also, do you have another panel as well? Thanks for the time. Bryan

You're right. As crazy as it sounds, it wouldn't be a problemt to cut it down the middle and ship it in a smaller box. I could then have the guy who does tig welding for me weld it back nice and clean. Thanks for the headsup. Bryan

I'm looking for a set of 240K Skyline tail lights with the metal surround panel. Any one have a clean setup that they would be willing to sell and ship to the US? Both tail lights and the surrounding panel. Bryan Dat240zg
  19. Matt: Not a problem. Would you explain the difference between the 4 door and 2 door lights? Also, any chance that you could add a close up picture of the side profile of the tail light surround (the line between the edge of the car body and the edge of the tail light panel)? Thanks for your time. Bryan
  20. Matt: I'd be interested in seeing pics of the tail light panels that you have. I'm interested in one with the tail lights. Thanks for your time. Bryan Dat240zg
  21. Guys: For all intents, #248 is done. Now I have to clean out/clean up the garage and try to get things back to normal :cross-eye. Several of you have asked if I had any of the emblems left from #248; I ended up with a few, several of which are the earliest solid metal design. In the coming days I'll be listing quite a few parts - some that would appeal to those restoring an early Z, others more to the HybridZ owner. All of the parts are up (or going up) on ebay (just look for user id Dat240zg). If you have any questions, shoot me an email. Bryan Dat240zg
  22. I think that he's referring to the airdam on #248 - although I'm not sure. If so, you're welcome to you opinion. Matches - If you would have read a little better (or looked at some of the old posts that chronicled bringing #248 back from the grave) I was referring to the fact that relative to the condition that #248 was in when I purchased it, #299 is a fairly complete car. There weren't enough original parts left on #248 to justify (financially) an original restoration. Going for the levels of originality that many of the guys here have done means throwing down an incredible amount of money - way past what an appraisor will value the car at. I'm in awe of the level of detail that I see in many of the Z's on this site. #299 could definitely be reborn - but be ready to drain the bank to do it! Personally, if I were going to rebuild an early Z to original status, I'd buy #59 with all of those NOS Nissan body parts. BTW, no insult taken, none intended. Bryan
  23. Looked better than #248! Then: Now: And #299 is a relatively complete car! But being on the backside of a complete restoration, I know that someone would easily be at +30K to do the restoration well. Bryan
  24. I agree with Jon. During the restoration of #248 we installed the Bad Dog subframe connectors and were really impressed with both the quality and the end product. Bryan
