  1. 1. Andrew Ellard, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia 2. 1973 240K Skyline 3. One of the most modified Skyline's in the world, it even has a bit of Z in it (300ZX Z32 rear suspension, cradle, diff) too many other mods to list.
  2. If you like Chrysler's and Datsun's why don't you combine their powers like me? Some people in the US reckon you can drop a 318/360 straight into a Z using the original engine mounts so they should drop straight into a K as well. It's good to hear you'll be back in a K soon too. Can you take some photos of the K collection for us? Cheers Andrew
  3. Your wife is Awesome, does she have any sisters you could ship over to Australia?
  4. There is a C110 for sale right now on from one of the members of this forum in the states. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=32004 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=320304104336 If you have the cash that day could be very soon ;) Glad to hear you approve of the RB option I've left myself open, I figured if I ever sell it most people would want that engine in it.
  5. You could fill that hole up with epoxy steel (jb weld etc) I used it on a hole in my manifold on the K and it lasted a year getting hot and cold with no problems, mine was used as a daily driver as well.
  6. Yeah tell me about it, I really hope something good happens in the very near future so you can keep it.
  7. Stop whining! There are quite a few out here in Aus, most are rusty bombs or hacked up with different engines in them. There are a few nice original ones with old grandmas still crusing behind the wheel though. I bought mine without the roof anyway so it was only fair to finishing the hacking up properly Anyway it's been built so I can just change over the crossmember and a RB26/RB30 will bolt straight in with only a gearbox mount and tailshaft mods. I bet you wouldn't complain if it had the RB motor in it.
  8. In my garage 1973 convertible V8 240K Skyline - nearly finished 2007 Ford Falcon poverty pack sedan straight 6 4.0lt - Daily drive 1995 Toyota Camry widebody shtbox 20ft trailer sailer http://www.scruffie.com/webgallery/secret_webgallery/FrameSet.htm most tools you need to get into trouble in the garage like engine hoist, compressor, mig welder, sony stereo from 1984 etc etc I hope to get a Datsun fairlady and put an sr20 in it for the girlfriend some time soon. One day I'll have a 240Z too
  9. Whoever buys it tell them to fix up the rear arches and get rid of the steel under the fibreglass arches I put up some photos of how to on this thread http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27682 Sorry to hear you have to sell it mate, it might turn out to be one of those things you always regret as you get older.
  10. also this thread http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24328
  11. You could be a complete prick and just always leave the compressor running during business hours (it's legal) until they get used to it and then every now and again sneak in a little bit of 2k spray

you can get a set of the gt & Skyline rear guard badges and the front and rear 240k GT badges for $125 delivered to AUS from the guy in Kuwait. He has posted on this forum before. I'd be very interested if you have the rear beaver panel Skyline badge for sale.
  13. I forgot it's illegal to paint 2k outside a booth. I asked my neighbour if he ever smelt my spraying and he stated that he had never smelt it but had heard my grinder a hell of a lot. You should just spray your K in 2k and see if anyone complains Kent, it's really not much harder to spray than acrylic.
  14. Do they show you how to spray in 2 pac?

Put a semi synthetic 75w 85 in the gearbox and also the diff if it's not LSD, if the diff is LSD put LSD90w in it. If your going to drive your car hard use a semi synthetic 75w 90 or full synthetic 75w 90 in gearbox and diff. The diff and trans shops will tell you the same. Cheers Andrew

Don't get me wrong, I stand by what I say, but it is just info from a American Multi National Corporation. You say you've used both types or oil, are these Full synthetic and Mineral based? as your missing semis synthetics in between. Most new cars will require a full synthetic oil but it you were to put full synthetic oils in a lot of older cars they would chew through it. I know this as a fact as I have to be careful when quoting new workshops to find out the most common types of cars they are servicing and what best oil it would be for then to use in bulk in the workshop. As for '"As of Jan. 04 the gov't has mandated complete elimination of the critical anti-wear additive package (zinc/phosphorus) from all "SM" rated (street legal) motor oils" this mustn't have happened in Australia yet as you can get Valvoline Synpower with ZDDP in the oil of the counter at most parts shops.

Looks like a lot of work Noodle, you should do a technical publication on it when your finished.

Can we start a petition to get him booted After reading Beandip's comment on Zinc being taken out of oil, I looked into what is in Valvoline's oil and found this little bit of info on one of our handouts regarding Valvoline full syn vs Mobil 1 full syn " The key to Valvolines anti-wear chemistry is its zinc/phosphorus additive known as ZDDP. Increasingly lower levels of phosphorus in motor oil have been the subject of concern to automotive enthusiasts. Synpower's low volatility ZDDP formulation causes the phosphorus to stay in the oil longer, according to Valvoline Technical director Thom Smith. Phosphorus bonds to metal parts in the engine to form a "sacrificial" layer that helps protect against engine wear, Smith said." Bear in mind I'm just a branch manager for Valvoline and can only regurgitate what I have read or watched on video. Hope this interests some people

Can you spell and do you realise that your not texting when on a forum? Mobil 1 full synthetic is crap, Valvoline in Australia is about to release advertising that states that our full synthetic oils are 4 times more wear resistant than Mobil when using the standard API engine wear test.
  20. 240kconvertible replied to gotswap's post in a topic in Engine & Drivetrain
Don't use a full synthetic oil in the engine, semi synthetic oils are fine. In the gearbox/diff use a 75w85 semi or if driving very hard use a 75w90 semi. If it's a lsd diff use LS90 Valvoline racing 50 is a 25w60 and may be a bit of overkill unless you are driving very hard, use Valvoline Durablend 15w50 if just normal driving with a bit of fun every now and again. In an australian magazine oil test only royal purple full synthetic and Penrite full synthetic oils beat Valvolines (semi synthetic) Durablend in engine wear out of most common oils. Red line failed as well as Motul, Castrol and Mobil etc etc. Unless your racing your wasting your money on royal purple. In saying this I must mention I work as a branch manager for Valvoline so am somewhat biased, but I may be able to pull up the file on the engine test and post it shortly if anyone is interested.

If anyone wants fuel injection, I know where a L series motor is lying on the side of the road (for last two months) in Toowoomba out the front of a wreckers. The wrecker is going to take to to the metal recyclers someday. It has a E88 head on it I think, I didn't pay much attention to it so can't be sure if it's an L24/26/28 If anyone is interested pm me and I'll send you the address. Cheers Andrew
  22. Heh heh, I'm really looking forward to it:rolleyes: just trying to decide which friend I should sucker in to help me. I won't be getting my GF to help me as she failed with the carpet bigtime. Now one side is further forward than the other, can't risk that with the windscreen. The guy who's selling me the windscreen for $160 is Peter from Novus 0402 304 437 in case anyone is interested. Only fits them on the Goldcoast. He's also selling me some special primer to go over the topcoat and some special thinners to clean it before using the sikaflex. I'll post photos shortly
  23. Well apparently you can just put them in with the standard V8 mounts. The info is on hybridz which are usually pretty accurate. Check the link I posted and the ones listed in that link and all will be revealed :nervous: Let me know if you get one to fit without any mods on the mounts as I may just have to buy an old Z as a paddock basher and put a 360 in it. I checked the Goodridge site 240k&Beyond, more good advice:classic: they actually list the 240/260z as a kit http://www.goodridge.net/uk/pdf/automotive/Goodridge_car_app_guide_uk.pdf It must be similar to the 240k... I did note that the GTR ones were POA though
  24. Well, mine didn't have a seal and was sikaflexed in. But in saying that the windscreen surround chrome strips were also sikaflexed into place, I'm guessing they weren't made this way from the factory. All will be revealed when i pick up the new screen next week
  25. I can't buy two, that would mean I have 3 windscreens for the 240k. The one in Newcastle is in good nic only minor scratches. I've already chipped the paint in a few places, and dribbled brake fluid onto one of the lower control arms causing the por to peel off :stupid: so it's only fair the windscreen gets a few blemishes to match the rest of the car.
