C110 for sale - may need a little work
Pilkington glass was a good call I called them and they gave me a number for a guy on the Gold Coast from Novus who quoted $260 fitted or $160 pick up. As he doesn't fit them in Brisbane I'll pick it up and fit it myself. Has anyone ever fitted a windscreen before? is it just a case of putting sikaflex on and laying the screen in place?

Well bugger me. . .
Hmmmm never thought about that, suppose I'll get it checked out. I definitely want one, so I can do burnouts easily. If you've bought the pipe and bender all you need is the flaring tool and away you go, would be silly getting someone else to do it as your half way there. I bought rubber line to do the fuel, cost $75 just to buy the line, hose clamps and fittings for the pump and regulator. It's an expensive hobby doing up 240k's that's for sure.

I've got one of my clients "Midas" doing it for me. They are charging me $400 or $500 (to be advised once car is in the shop) including the fitment of a line locker and the rubber hoses to go to the calipers. I have been quoted $300 to get some custom braided lines made up but haven't bothered to get them as the costs are just spiraling out of control. I was going to buy the tools to do it but i'd rather have the pros do the brakes. They will also be fixing up the exhaust when it's in there. They did custom 2 1/4 inch extractors fitted for $800 the job came out really well except for the starter issue and the price was very good. I have been given cheaper quotes but i'd rather send it to where I know the job will be done properly.

Called up windscreen O'Brian today, they now want $525 retail for a 240k coupe windscreen fitted gst inc, or $366 Trade fitted gst inc. They have to get the glass sent up from Sydney. I guess I'll call a few other places to see if I can find it cheaper.

I'm still very happy with what I've ended up with, you know the quality of swr's work. I reckon I'll need all the handling I can get once I start working the engine too. It goes in for the brake lines and clutch line to be fitted next week sometime, shouldn't be long before it's moving on it's own power again. I would have started it by now but the exhaust shop put the extractors to close to where the starter motor sits so i have been unable to fire it up:cry:

C110 for sale - may need a little work
It's most likely the standard windscreen. The A pillars weren't cut at all, changing them would have been a major wasted effort and there was no non-standard welding on the A pillars except for the very ends of them. I sand blasted them back to bare steel so all was visible. I assume that the windscreen was taken out when the roof was removed but I see no reason why they would've replaced it unless they broke it when being removed. There was no tint in the one I had except for the blue strip at the top. I suppose I should have said " I want one that bends down like the one originally on my vert " The replacement I saw was on a 4 door that I bought for about $300 took a few parts off then sold for $500. I thought about removing it as I was informed by previous owner it was a replacement and was in better nic than my own, but I chose not to get it off as I was too lazy and didn't really need it. Thank god I didn't bother to remove it as I know know it wouldn't have fitted, cheers for the info.

Well bugger me. . .
While searching through hybridz i came across this, http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?p=918857#post918857 It seems that a chrysler 318/340/360 will bolt straight into a 240z with it's standard mounts, and I'm assuming that it would also go straight into a K. when I trial fitted my block it was very close to fitting in but I had engine mounts that were for a chrysler 6cyl crossmember not the std v8 crossmember ones (i had pulled out my 225 and dropped in the 318). It was so close, if I had seen this sooner I could have saved myself a few $ but then wouldn't have the rack & pinion. If anyone has a K they're doing up in brisbane and wants to put a V8 in it let me know as I have a spare block sitting in my garage and would love to see if it actually fits. If K's have different mounting points to the Z also let me know so I can stop dreaming.

C110 for sale - may need a little work
took me a while to figure out what I was talking about, probably posted when drunk. Your right though, I've seen a replacement windscreen but the tinted blue strip at the top was just a straight line across the window, it didn't bend down as it got close to the a pillars. I want one that bends down like the original.

That's lame! although you do live in Melbourne where your nose would fall off when driving during winter without the roof on

The L28R Engine
Maybe they called it an R series in order to sell what would have been a going out of date engine, the head mods could have been to get better fuel economy to pass more stringent emissions. Larger main bearings do seem a bit odd though, are you 100% sure they were larger than standard units? How much quicker than a 280zx 2.8 was the R version?

I'd be more than happy to pay around $250 installed. Alfa, did your screen have the blue strip on it that bends at the edges?

Yeah, all the bits are included except the windscreens. Muppets. Windscreens O'brian quoted me something like $450 for a new one, I'm going to get a trade price from them shortly as my windscreen is still in Newcastle.

aarrgghhh more rust :(
Standard, as if that would ever happen. Try to weld a cube together, it's good practice. I'm trying out a new rust paint for underbodys and inside the chassis rails. It's tectyl 506, I got 4lt from work. If it's good I'll send you the remainder as I only need to do inside the chassis rails on mine and can't see myself using more than 2 lts. Also bought por us standard tank sealer, I'll let you know how that turns out.

Looking good Kent, not long now and you'll be doing burnouts in it. Good work on buying the welder too.

Body Parts, Japanese Shop
I assumed that they'd be made as gtr style guards, didn't really pay that much attention to it I suppose...... I'd probably leave them unpainted as I'm over spraying and sanding for one lifetime. I've upset enough people by putting a cast iron V8 into the vert so one more person thinking I've done a silly thing wouldn't matter too much I suppose Seriously though I just need to get my brake/fuel lines fitted so I can start the damn thing and do a burnout before I look at buying any more expensive parts.

Body Parts, Japanese Shop
How much do you reckon it would cost to get the bonnet and guards landed at your doorstep? Can you cut carbon fibre with say a hacksaw or compressed air saw? I wouldn't be seriously looking at getting them for a while as I've just spent many hours getting my bonnet and guards sprayed and straightened, but you just never know......
