  1. Looking good Nigel, how much better does it brake with the rear discs on it? is it very noticible

Do you really think you'll be able to take down the Chrysler 265 hemi??? they've won most years so far and unless someone takes in a worked M3 I can't see them losing anytime soon. Anyway Alfadog where the bloody hell have you been??? haven't seen a post from you for ages. Just cause you sold your K to the middle east doesn't mean you can't post here. You haven't even made one comment on my "monstrosity" as you so described it once upon a time. I think I speak for most regulars on here that we'd like to hear more from you.
  3. I was just having a whine, please ignore me when I do this in future. I copped a fair bit of flak on Skylines Australia for putting a cast iron v8 in it, mostly by people who don't know anything about the car or the actual weight differences in the engines. The VQ45's just cost too much money to get the power I want from them. Check this link out, its a crate motor from the US 375hp 460ft/lbs for $3600 US http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=MLL%2DBPC4080CT&autoview=sku What I'll end up with will be closer to this 435hp 500ft/lbs for $5795 us http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=MLL%2DBPC4081CT&autoview=sku With the aussie dollar so good it won't cost much more than that, can you imagine driving a 240k with 670nm of torque at the flywheel? hello burnouts at 100kmph
  4. I don't know much about the C210 as I have a C110 but from what I understand they are very similar, correct me if I'm wrong. If you are on a small budget I would look at getting a L28 and wacking a little puffer on that, it would bolt right in and have ample power to spin the tyres. In saying that it might cost you a bit to find a l28 and then a lot in parts to build it. Putting in an RB turbo engine would solve the power issues required for drifting and would cost a similar amount as the turbo L28. after all it's just custom engine/gearbox mounts to fit and there are heaps of front cuts available. If you were to buy say a r33 front cut and install the front crossmember engine you would have rack & pinion steering and bettrer brakes suspension for not much more than just getting some mounts made up. You can apparently put a WRX diff into them as the wrx uses the R180 diff which the c210 comes out with, quite a few people have put the R200 in them without too many difficulties as well. check the other datsun sites in Australia. I was going to put the R200 in mine but went for the R230 as I want supercharged V8 power. One guy I know of has an R200 in a Z with 530hp and it handles it fine so I went a bit overboard putting in the R230. I've never heard of S13 suspension fitting easily so be wary. I've upgraded my front crossmember/steering to r31 rack & pinion and only now can it accept the S13/14 front lower control arms and struts. It all depends on how much time and how much money you are willing to spend. Hope this helps Cheers Andrew
  5. Cheers for the support Camo, It's good to know some people appreciate it. Bonzi Lon, if I could get my hands on a manifold like the twin 4 barrel unit it would be on the car so quick, the older speed parts that are outside the box really do it for me.
  6. What ohms Fuel guage should I buy to match the original sender? I've just had my tank cut and welded to fit in between the strut towers in the boot and have also purchased a nos fuel sender unit so I want to get it right. My original guage would only go to half way when full. Cheers Andrew
  7. You really have to get the engine in place and go from there, you may be pleasantly surprised about how it all fits together.
  8. You could always move the radiator into the space where your rear seat used to be and install a couple of water pumps to get it all flowing. I guess it wouldn't look so good in the rear seat but would allow you to get a much bigger intercooler in. . . . Cabin would get a bit hot and noisy though That's a silly idea now I actually think about it . . . I envisaged it while imagining my K not yours
  9. Eventually it'll will run EFI for sure. There are a very large choice of manifolds for the mopar v8's, I'm leaning towards getting the 6-pack manifold (runs 3 carbys, pics attached) and putting efi throttle bodies onto it. It's been done before in America and looks cool. Hopefully i'll be getting forced induction along with the EFI when i finally save up enough but that probably won't be for another 5 years or so. Talking about EFI, I saw a dumped L24 EFI engine laying on the side of the road in an Industrial area in Toowoomba.
  10. I've copped a fair bit of flak for putting a old school V8 in the vert, is it really that bad to want a big cube small block in a C110?
  11. I wanted to wait a while till I had some better shots to show you all but they may be a while longer than I thought so this is what it looks like at the moment. I feked the front guards by sanding them flat while on the bench, they look like they are from another car, the gaps between the doors and guards are 1cm apart:stupid: guess that what happens when a sales rep tries to be a panel beater. Anyway thats one for the real panel beaters to fix when it goes in for a proper spray job. If anyone has to good straight guards let me know. I'm going to register it with the std engine and interior in it as I just can't bear to have it sitting in the garage anymore. I have a universal harness matched up to the original switch gear, I'm quite happy about that. Anyway you all know the rest, hope you all like it.

Sorry I should have said if I was you I'd be putting in a R33 system. I assumed that it would fit nicely on your engine didn't think of the cabin. I won't be having any aircon due to no roof and weight saving factors, by that I mean I can't be bothered modifying it to fit in.

check this link out http://www.nostalgicairparts.com/ac/miscellaneous-vehicles-55.php there is a 240z aftermarket kit which shouldn't be too much different. I'd be looking at putting a whole reco'd r33 system in and replacing what's in the cabin with the r33 system. Can't help with the pump issue but if you were to make it 4wd you'd be able to just use GTR ones.
  14. I'm sure SWR could put it together for you in under 1 month (not including 8 month waiting list to get into SWR) they have experience with the irs mod now as well. As for doing it before 1012 they might have a time machine out back, not sure though:p Seriously though a 4wd GTR 240k would be awesome, you should do it.

Good work Nigel, I'll get one of those made up for sure.

I'll post some better pics soon when the vert is more together, I don't want to spoil the unveiling with bonnet and door missing etc etc. Looks like you've come to the same conclusion as me with the engine, just get it moving then modify some more std gtr engine will be damn quick in a K, you'll be able to burn heaps of people at the lights.

just read the skyline nationals thread, didn't realise the joke about how long our cars are taking to restore was already spoken  I'm hoping to get mine rego'd this year but I'm having to cut costs to do so like no professional paint job no engine rebuild no new interior, but after having it off the road so long I just can't bear to have it in the garage gathering dust any longer. I wish I could get to the nationals this year but it's unlikely. I will be at NSW one for sure.

Nice one, it's going to haul arse big time now. I'll definitely have to stroke my engine to keep up with you. Maybe we might get to race them sometime in 2014 when we're both finished our builds how far off the road are you now? Are the engine internals going to stay stock? obviously you'll change chip & exhaust.

It looks quite rusty, someone is going to have to spend a lot of time welding it back together. I'd guess it will just be stripped for parts. . . . sadly

what engine are you putting in your coupe now if the RB25 is gone?
  21. I agree c2, it really is a shame. I've only seen 3 other coupes on the road since I bought mine in 2002. The "rebirth specialists" in Kuwait are fecked but sadly not many people are interested in them in Aus....... at least we get a few wicked videos from Kuwait, that has to count for something I suppose.
  22. My std booster is the size of your fist and looks more like a clutch booster than a brake one. I'll look into getting a DR30 set up like you. Have you tested your brakes out yet?
  23. Do you have a booster to go with that master? also what master/booster combo are you using?
  24. I need to sort out a brake booster, master cylinder that will fit my firewall holes and run the R32 GTR front brakes and 300zx rears. SWR have informned me that I could use a 240z booster with a 280zx vertical mount master cyl 15/16 ratio and that this would be fine. Hoppers stoppers have recommended using a late 70's booster 1inch master cylinder from a Patrol. They say this fits straight onto 120y's 200b's but they are unsure if it will fit the 240K. Any ideas which kit will be best or any better ideas to sort the issue out please let me know Cheers Andrew
  25. At the moment it has 215/45 r17s all round, i'm aiming to end up with 255/35 R18 on the rear and 225/35 R18 on the front.
