rust in hardtop roof
Kent is spot on, it all depends on how well you can weld and also how well you can make pieces of steel to fit in the holes. Remember cars rust from the inside out, so a few holes may actually turn out to be a lot more like mine was :tapemouth

Yet another Vert update
I do want a nice wood dash as I was happy with the original fake one just want to make it look a little better. I'll either stain the one I have or get another made out of dark western red cedar. I'm leaning towards the original wheel it looks better with my std sht interior. Maybe when I spend the $$$ on the interior the wheel will look the part but at the moment I don't think it will go on. Thanks for the feedback guys.

That's a shame that you had to crush it, it kinda looks like it could've been a good restorer.

EOI on my 240K GT coupe??
Can't you keep the GT and sell your GL coupe? just swap over all of the parts. Post pics of your Z as well.

What do you think of the wheel and dash?

Yet another Vert update
The black plastic by itself would look really bad, it's quite obviously unfinished. I don't really like what the aluminium under the fake woodgrain looks like by itself unless it has the brushed marks on it, then it's awesome. With the dash not being made in a dark red wood I'm not much of a fan as well. Not sure how to approach my Dad and get him to make another, he's a grumpy old sod at the best of times. That makes me laugh and also taught me a new word. VERT noun 1. English Forest Law. a. vegetation bearing green leaves in a forest and capable of serving as a cover for deer. b. the right to cut such vegetation. 2. Heraldry. the tincture, or color, green. So I take it you don't like the original fake woodgrain dash on your K then Camo?

Yet another Vert update
It moves under it's own power now http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=la8d3EbubgI Sorry about the dodgy sound, I'll record a better clip when I test the line locker. I've included a couple of shots, one of the steering wheel I chose, which I don't think I will end up using as the original wheel is hard to beat and one of the dash fascia I might be using. I say might use as my Father who built it didn't really listen to me when I asked him to make it in dark red cedar not whitish silky oak. The silky oak just doesn't match the wheel (new or original) or the paint job. I'll have to stain it to the right colour or get off my arse and make one the right colour myself. So all in all I'd like to know what you all think of the two items, I know it sounds kinda silly after I've just told you I probably won't be using them but hey, I've been living in Queensland for a while now and the sun is obviously getting to me.

Classic skylines australia forum
Classiczcars 240k section will never die out, it goes a fair while sometimes without posts but it is always kicking. If the list of people wanting frp stuff from challenge is any guide we are healthier than ever with people checking it out. I really only use this forum and check sau every now and again. All the best K owners post here!

V8 Convertible
It will never be finished. As soon as it's registered I'll start saving for engine rebuild/supercharger then rollcage then proper paintjob then interior then performance suspension. . . . i'm sure you get the idea. It's probably best you come and look at it early in the new year sometime. It would be interesting with a big bulge on the bonnet but it's just another thing to sort out. It will be easier to just cut a hole in the bonnet touch up the paint and be done with it. I'm over modifications for the time being, I just want my coupe registered so I can cruise in it.

V8 Convertible
I've come to terms with putting a hole in the bonnet, it's not like it hasn't had the air hacksaw to other parts of the car. At the moment the 2bbl carby hits the bottom of the bonnet with the std 2 bbl manifold on. The std 2bbl one is quite thin compared to the aftermarket 4bbl manifold which is what i'll be adding shortly, so when the higher manifold is on it's either airfilter showing or bonnet scoop and I'd rather see the filter rocking from side to side than a bonnet scoop.

mmmmmmmmmm manual and power upgrade. Nice, what are you doing to get the extra power? I wanted to keep the 8 hidden underneath the bonnet but if i run a filter I need to cut a hole in the bonnet. So a hole it is. . . sadly. I actually drove the vert (forward & backwards in the drive) for the first time today, It can light up both rears with little effort. Interesting that were on this particular thread as it was the 1st (of many) I posted about the vert, you can see how long ago it was when I was still starting to plan my attack on the restoration. Such a long time between drives.

What did you do this weekend ?
Your going to have one quick ride when you finish the turbo install. Put some slicks on the std rims and you'd have one hell of a sleeper.

Brake booster, master cyl upgrade
I ended up fitting a R34 1inch master/booster and drilling holes into the firewall. It's easy to drill through the firewall but hard to custom modify the inside steering support brace to make sure the booster has something other than the firewall to hold to. I've been told that there is a 240z booster that will fit the std hole size and can also have a 1 inch master attached. Are you trying to upgrade to a 1 inch master to run bigger brakes? Do you know of any C110 fender mirrors for sale?

Very nice ovenfood. Can you make it so it doesn't have the blower hanging out the bonnet? You got the rear parcel shelf line spot on.

Aussie Desert Cooler Radiator
I actually canceled the order with ADC as I found out about these guys http://www.alloyradiators.com.au/ they're supposedly very good for the price. The ADC I had ordered was a copper type custom made to bolt up to the original mounting points and cool a V8. It was $550 including freight $750-$850 for alloy. ADC doesn't seem to charge more than std pricing for a custom size and will give free freight if you ask very nicely. Once I find out the price of the Just Alloy Radiator I'll let you know how they compare.

EDIS on my 240K
Your K is going to be awesome when you have the turbo fitted. Are you going to fit the GTR style flares as well?

Aussie Desert Cooler Radiator
I have just ordered a radiator from Aussie Desert Coolers, the reason I mention this is that Norm (the owner) had just made a radiator for another 240k 2 weeks ago. It surprised me a little as usually when I order stuff I get the "I haven't seen/heard of one of those cars for a while" it was good to know that the aussie 240k scene is still going strong.

240k corner weights?
Bullshit!!! can you please link in the posts where you have read this? If you want true 50/50 weight distribution you will have to move the engine back or you will never get it unless you throw some lead in the boot. The RB25 is a very heavy engine which correct me if I'm wrong weighs more than the L24. Why are you going to be sitting right back in the cabin, wouldn't that require a whole heap of steering and pedal mods?
