  1. Haha slim jim that reminds me of the original gone in 60 seconds. Have you gotten into the car yet Razor?
  2. I feel that to be truly safe you need the tracker, I had a Holden Vectra stolen from out the front of my house it was only about 15m from my bedroom window and didn't notice it being taken. The thieves just reversed a tilt tray up to it and loaded it on, you could see the scrape marks on the road where the rear wheels slid as the handbrake was on. The gearbox was on it's way out so in the end it was a blessing in disguise.
  3. just sent it you were too quick
  4. Your right I should've sent a pm :disappoin:tapemouth: I never even bothered locking mine when I drove it for a year seeing as you can just unbutton the top. I'm installing the dvd player in the boot so it can't get nicked but the reality is that I probably won't let it out of my sight when parked as it would kill me if it ever got stolen. Are you putting an alarm system/kill switch/gps tracker in yours when it's finished?
  5. edited and sent pm instead
  6. I meant can you paint over the Navy stuff not the rust converter
  7. The rust converter from the shops doesn't burn holes in concrete though, I just tried it. Can you paint over the fluid once it goes white?
  8. this one is quite interesting too http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=rQZkFYQTKYc&feature=related
  9. F*&K ME , thats off tap Those guys in the middle east drifting their skylines put every street racer to shame. I just wouldn't have the balls to do that in heavy traffic, I might do it in light traffic though.
  10. Good work on getting your girlfriend to work with you. I was only able to get my gf to help out once on the car . . . maybe I shouldn't have stuck her in the boot painting 2k primer with dust filters on the mask.:cheeky: No matter how easy to sand it's still going to be quicker to scrape it first. . . . i think. My bog has settled now and is no longer perfectly flat, It shows up heaps of imperfections and took about 2 months to settle. I bought some finishing bog but it was very hard to sand so i never used it and now have to go over heaps of bits again. Do a bit and spray some shiny paint over it and leave it for a few months to make sure yours doesn't do the same. Noodle go out and buy a $9.95 scraping tool from supercheap it's gotta be easier than using the hacksaw. My friend and i tried to make thermite when we about 13 after downloaded the jolly roger cookbook from the then brand spanking new internet, as I recall we wasted a whole weekend and a few magnesium strips trying to light it but to no avail.

Nice, your going to have one awesome ride when finished. Have you seen the video somewhere on you tube that has the C110 with the RB26 running triple carbys?
  12. That $^!# sounds hardcore, are you sure it's not thermite?
  13. It takes as long to get rid of the grit in the car as it does blasting it in the first place, I nearly burnt out a vacuum cleaner trying to restrict it down to a tube to suck it out. In the end I found it best to do it with two people, one guy holds the vacumn the other get on the air gun. That soda blasting does look pretty sweet. Kent, I'm sure if we ever get our K's on the street together there will be beer involved When your bogging try and do a small areas and then make sure you scrape it flat before it dries. It takes a lot longer to sand bog than it does to scrape it while it's nearly dry. I stuffed this up heaps of times. Another trick that worked well for me was to do have a few beers at the end of the day and get into some rough sanding of large areas, the slight drunkedness seems to give you back all your will power and stamina to continue for a little longer without your brain telling you all it wants to do is jump in the pool.
  14. how do you misplace an engine? :stupid: I saw that offer on SAU, most guys are all talk. . there's only a handful of us crazy enough to complete 3 year + modifications/resto's on 240k's, in saying that it's good to see people are starting to value the K a little more. I publicly bet a case of beer it takes you a lot more than 2 weeks of bogging, welding and sanding just to get it to base coat stage. When you sand through your fingertips the 15k paint job starts to not sound so bad If I were you I'd buy a pack of sandpaper off ebay to get started, you'll save a bit in the long run and you do have 2 cars to do.
  15. Did your GT come with it's original engine? if not will that effect your end engine choice? Take as much time off as possible as the bodywork is a hard long job, run your stereo really loud all day long and the old gran won't hear your compressor I'm going to rev the V8 up to at least 4500rpm this weekend so stand by for more youtube videos.
  16. That's a good price for a VQ45, it would be nice to have another V8 K cruising around. The VQ45 are lighter than the original 6 too so the weight distribution would be really nice
  17. 1973 240K V8 Skyline Convertible Finally got the V8 running English LINK

    I think it looks fast
  19. Well, she's finally been started. I still have to do a little before it will be test driven but it's nice to hear it alive again. http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=pnumYH_cOKo The engine sounds pretty meaty when rev'd between 3500/4500 it should be a lot of fun to drive. I'll be replacing the 2 barrel 350cfm with a 4 barrel 560cfm eventually but other than that I won't do any other performance mods to the engine until it dies on me or I've saved up enough to stroke/supercharge it. I'll get some more videos up shortly when I've tidied up the wiring in the engine bay and I can rev it properly.

haha, Like the little train going up the hill...i think I can get traction, i think i can get traction If single swing arm irs is good for holdens and fords with 550nm it should be ok for the K, you'll just need to get some really stiff springs, perhaps some that were made in the viagra factory.

I'd love to see a tubbed K, can anyone photoshop it up? You'll probably need to get yours tubbed after you turn the boost up and get sick of wheelspining all the time Kent

I'm impressed with the amount of work you have done yourself Nigel, and you have the same brand welder as me yours is a little bit more powerful though, did you buy it on ebay? I'll be using your cad drawings shortly thats for sure.
  24. I think you've just volunteered to go knock on the door of challenge fibreglass for the 240k'ers :cheeky:
  25. Do whatever you have to do to get back in the K, a lot of people are getting very interested in them these days and i think the low cost of them is over. It wasn't necessary to upgrade the crossmember but I wanted to be able to drop an RB motor in so I put a R31 skyline crossmember into it, I can just bolt a std R31 crossmember in and the RB will drop right in. The trans is a Supra 5 speed at the moment, should be a supra 6 speed though, the trans tunnel was widened to house the big bellhousing. The 318/360 with alloy heads weighs only approx 50lb more than the original 6, it sits right back so "should" give better weight distribution than with a 6 in it. No more engineering just interior, proper paint job and rebuild of my 360 block in garage and fitment of supercharger. Oh and a nice roof, roll cage etc etc. It will probably never be finished now I'm thinking about all the things I'd like to do. I got all the info on the 318 engine into the Z from this thread http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread...857#post918857 you have to go into the other threads listed in it to, interesting read though. Exhaust is twin 2 1/4 inch to one muffler at the back, you can see a bit in my avatar. It was supposed to come back to me last Friday but didn't so should be tomorrow. I will post a video on youtube of me getting it started for the first time shortly. Hopefully it runs;)
