240K GT parts
Be prepared to have to blow it out for longer than you had to sandblast it, you have to go from one end of the rail to the other about 768 594 times... This is for each rail. I really wanted to get a mate on one end with a vacumn cleaner to suck out the stuff out as I blew it but was unable to rope anyone into helping me on that particular day. I envisage this would help quite a lot and you would only need to blow each rail out 594 times. I'd bet I still have bits of garnet inside mine in plases covered by pro. Actually now I think about it I taped a hose to my housemates vacumn cleaner and shoved it in one end of the rail on max 10min later the vacumn died as I had overheated it by restricting the airflow. Putting the cleaner on 50% power might have fixed it. A new cleaner cost me $120 it had sweet fa in the bag when finished as well.

WTB - 240K Trailing Arms
I left my set of trailing arms with Stewart wilkins motorsport they might not have dumped them just yet. They are off a coupe though. There is also a wrecker in western sydney who might be able to help SWR will also be able to give you his number.

240K GT parts
Dry ice?? Kero?? don't even think about it, that's crazy talk and would turn out to be the worst day of your life. Imagine being under a car wiping it with kero. Enviro strip is out of business and won't hire his equipment, bloody murphys law. You can use kennards hire and get a 4000psi water jet with sand blaster attachment for $258 for 24 hours. The water coming out at the same time would make a mess but would stop the dust issue letting you do it in your driveway. I swear on my K that sandblasting does take off all the tar type of soundeadener. I had to leave a bit on mine as the guy who I loaned the kit off was standing next to me waiting to get it back as I finished the rear. I can't say if the kennards kit would do it as quick or with as little damage but the guy I called said it "should". Call 9318 2777 allow 2 days and $300 for blasting media. Hope this helps. P.s is this sounddeadener your taking off the same stuff you put on a while back? and if so are you doing this just to get por on the bottom?

Nearly ready to terrorise the local neighbourhood
There have been a few issues getting it "approved" this still hasn't been finalised but the engineer in QLD seems to think it will all be fine as long as I don't go over 330 cubic inches. No one will know it has a stroker crank in it though. Except everyone on this site of course.:stupid: The suspension was the hardest bit to get through as your not allowed to increase the track too much. The loophole around this is to fit the whole set up from the cars your using. Thus mine is now considered front end R31 rear end 300zx on a K body. With this in mind I am still able to increase the track a small amount on these new suspension set ups. This cost a lot to do though and I would advise everyone to just go out and buy a R34 instead unless you are crazy or in love with your K. My girlfriend counts her as number 2 in my life as I spend a lot more time and money on the K so I guess this puts me in the in love catergory. Although there is a little bit of crazy aswell. After Castlemaine rod shop built the car with the spitfire motor in it I'm pretty sure with the right engineer you can get anything registered.

What finishes should be under the hood?
I like black engine bays with some shiny bits and pieces but nothing to overboard. Or when and engine bay has a lot of wires hidden and generally cleaned up, say a modified engine bay that still looks somewhat stock. I'll be aiming for the clean crisp look under my hood. Braided lines and bright pipes don't do it for me, I like black with just a few bits polished. I think if you go overboard on an old car it loses some of it's soul and becomes a little bit boy ricer. A prime example of going overboard for me was that photo of the modified 45k Z (which will never sell for 45k) with the weird Z on the speaker board, it just looked so wank wank wank and ruined that section of the car. This same disaster can be easily replicated anywhere on the car. In saying that the owner probably thought it was sooo sweet.

240K GT parts
You need to sandblast the bottom, it will be just a two day job if you hang the car like I did. I'm really sorry we couldn't get your car at my mates farm to do it, his family is really funny about strangers coming over as they have a lot of valuable stuff sitting in the yard and the unlocked shed. If I was you I wouldn't try to get under on my back and strip it as you would be better off just paying someone to do it. The time it would take would be quite a lot and would probably be cheaper to spend that time at work and put the cash you earn towards someone who could do it for you. The main benifit I saw from sandblasting was the ability to get into the rails, when you spray up the rails don't use por as you waste heaps of paint trying to make sure you get it everywhere. I think I ended up with about 3 litres of por on my garage floor. I'm really looking forward to the day when we can line your RB up against my 318 at the lights. Any idea how much your engine & box weigh? I've ended up only about 100 pounds more than the L24. P.s prepare for the worst they always rust from the inside out, I had two little spots showing but the sills were totally rooted. Looks to me like your in the same boat with the sills...at least on one side.

Nearly ready to terrorise the local neighbourhood
I posted a few on that previous reply but they're not showing again. My computer is so $^!#. you'd think with 2 X1950 radeon cards, 4 gig ram, dual core it would be able to submit pictures. I'll try again now. There is one shot from the rear looking at the driver side tyre. It has come out funny as the tyre looks really small for a 17 but isn't actually that small. Photos seemed to have worked this time, I usually shrink them just enough to fit so I may time out while uploading them. If I shrink them down to 640 x 480 I have no problems posting them. Makes me want to kick my computer.

Nearly ready to terrorise the local neighbourhood
Yeah the engineering bit got out of hand a while ago....just can't help but dream up things to do to it. Your friend will most likely have the most power if he goes all the way on the LS1, I need to keep it docile at the traffic lights so will only be fitting a mild cam. It's finally back in my garage so I have a few more shots for you. I'm still waiting for Alfa's approval on the most modded although I'm fairly certain I hold that title. I hope you all can appreciate what I've done to her.

240K GT parts
Looks like you have a lot of work ahead of you in the future Kent. I noticed your other K buried in stuff in the background in one of the pictures, that is really naughty :disappoin if they get covered in stuff you can add a year to the rebuild easy. Mastadd is there any chance that Nissan rebadged and plated yours after it arrived here as a GT so it could be sold as a GL instead of a GT?

240K GT parts
Sounds like yours may be a true GT could it just have a different ID plate on it? back in the day it would've been easy to rebirth a 240k I guess.

So, here is what I've been up to
That is one sweet ride brian, I really like the RB26 and the polished radiator. Is it a standard RB26 or have you done some work to the internals? I can't offer any advice for the suspension issues, as you probably know I had a rear cradle from 300zx welded in mine. I'm hoping that I don't have any issues when it's done on the road. With the dash face your after is that the flat piece that is fake wood or brushed aluminium? I'm replacing mine with a real piece of wood possibly silky oak or western red cedar so would have a spare one you could have for free. Let me know if this is the piece. cheers Andrew

240K GT parts
I'd guess that it's just a GL done up with GT bits, probably sourced years ago from Kents new car My build date is 9/73 002805 and was a GL. I feel that all coupes are really GT's as it was just our insurance that made them be rebadged GL's. I know a few people disagree with that but they are usually the ones with a GT in their garage. You can jump on that bandwagon now kent

v8 in a 280
Don't give up your dream so easily, you can stroke a 360 mopar block out to 426cubes Aussie shop selling the kit http://www.pentastarparts.com.au/sunshop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=1347 That way you can have big block cubes in a small block V8 I guess that parts would be quite cheap in the US and I assume you could get a similar result from the 350. Bucket loads of power that the L28 will never manage unless 30psi is shoved down it's throat

Nearly ready to terrorise the local neighbourhood
Big thanks to Kent (helper of many K owners) for getting the shots for me. SWR had sent me a heap of PDF files and I couldn't shrink them to fit on here. As stated in the title my vert is nearing the end of it's modifications and is so close to burning rubber on the tarmac I can smell it. I'm fairly certain it's the most modified K in the world, just waiting for Alfa's approval. As you can see the R230 diff and cradle are in as well as the R31 front end. The front has DR30 struts with 5 stud Z31 hubs waiting for GTR brakes or GTST. When it comes back to me this weekend I'll post some shots of the V8 and gearbox in place. Most of the V8 is sitting right back behind the front axel line with only 1 bank of cylinders in front of it. I assume it should handle quite well although I will have to get a custom set a rims (more $$$$) made up to address the difference in track front to rear. Apparently I can remove spark plugs without taking the whole engine out but I'm waiting to see what happens when the extractors get fitted to make that call. I expect it to have about 400hp (1hp per cube) and even more torque when the V8 has been stroked out to 390 cubic inches. I guess I'll have to get custom 640k GT badges made up soon :stupid::cheeky: Anyway just thought you'd all like to see how far it's come along. Cheers Andrew

240K GT parts
Spewing you only just bought the coupe, if it had off been bought a year ago I could've given my engine and gearbox to you. I just gave away a heap of parts to SWR including Hilux calipers and old school mags, front end and rear end. If you need any of those parts I'm sure they'd give you a good price maybe even free. I'm hoping to be able to afford a C10 GTr one day as I love them soooooooo much. They look so hot.

project update
Nice colour. It's good to see your still working on the K and not spending all your time on the S4. How much did the strut brace cost you?

My new 240K
Looks like your building up quite a collection of nice parts for it. I like the mags and the triple's. What are you doing to the head other than cams? any porting when you rebuild the L24? It's good to see another 240k being tuned into a bit of street weaponary. Will you be chopping up the rear guards to fit the fenders? the shot of the side showing the steel under the rears looks classy Every K owner out there is after a S20, we can only wish, dream or cough up bucket loads of cash.

Good work mate. I'm looking forward to seeing what you do to her in the coming months/years. Any plans yet on upgrading the engine gearbox??

GTR Flares how to fit
Hi Camo, I couldn't find the add for the parts wanted, although I didn't look very hard. Could you tell them to call SWR directly and speak to trent on 02 45772400 I will let him know someone wants them. I suppose they would have to give them postage and that would be it. My IRS was looking fairly rusted out so I can't promise anything about the condition. I gave the front struts and the hilux 4spot calipers I had to SWR so they won't be available. Kent make sure you get the sanding pads for the grinder it makes light work of any coating and can't be beat for stripping easy to get to areas. Did you get a look at it?? I still haven't seen it since I dropped it off.

me on youtube
A friend posted this vid of a burnout I did in one of my old Valiants. It is a 225cubic inch 6cyl pulling 2nd's I could've let the revs go up higher in 1st and then she would've keept smoking 2nd but I had it in drive and didn't want to thrash it too much. I know it's not Datto related but who cares
