sloppy shifter
Yea...I have the one with the nut. The fork attached by the pin and the e-clip is very loose fitting. Maybe stuffing a shim or washer in with the pin might tighten it up..

sloppy shifter
There doesn't seem to be any room for a bushing. The pin is the only thing that fits. There is no ball at the bottom of shifter. The only other thing holding it is the screw end with a spring. With the pin out I can move the fork all the way off , pivoting on the spring. Maybe I'm missing something.

sloppy shifter
I took the e-clip off and pin out and there isnt a spot for anything. The pivot area with the spring seems fine. It is just at the bottom of the arm that seems sloppy. I was even thinking of putting in a thin spacer where the pin goes through. I have a four speed in the early Z (hatch vents). A friend in the club put bushings in his later Z and what a difference !! I just dont seem to go to enough of the tech sessions to realize my problem.. Thanks for the help. Zztom

sloppy shifter
Well, I have an early Z ...HLS30-19867.....and there are no bushings in the shifter. Do I have to replace the metal fork? It seems worn and its probably not going to bend closed with my help. Are the bushings for later model shifters? Thanks Zztom:sleep:

Replacement of shifter bushings
BadDog, The Z club in Rochester is part of our Z.A.N.Y. (Z Association of N.Y.) club. We have shows now and then and our big one is at Burdick Nissan in Syracuse. Maybe someday we will get together. If you check out my profile pics one of them is last years' show. I am definitely gonna need those bushings.... Zztom

Replacement of shifter bushings
BadDog, was your shifter real sloppy and loose feeling? Mine seems to have gotten bad real fast. So far I'm not having a good Spring. We only get 6 months to drive here (upstate NY) and I'll be spending most of it under the car. Zztom:sleep:

weatherstripping
Oh, ............The stripping would be very tough to attatch at the side of the dash if the thing-a-ma-gig was bent...

weatherstripping
Thats good thinking but the door isnt even close. I lined up the latches with no weatherstripping on and adjusted the door to only pull out to the body line. Then I put the strip in and it's not close. I even drove around without the strip but the doors rattled and the wind blew !!!! ......... I'm sure I'll get it. Zztom:sleep:

weatherstripping
Hey, you read my mind !! Thats what I'm gonna try to do. I'm cutting out the "meat" of the strip and keep the shape. Hope it works. Zztom:sleep:

weatherstripping
Hi, I cant get my doors to close !!! I originally had Vic Brit door stripping and it was tight but now I put Nissan weatherstripping on and cant even get a click on the latch!! Getting mad (like the Italian that I am) I took everything out and the doors close like new. Does anyone make "thin" stripping? zztom
