Thanks very much george71z and Mike B. I 'thought so, but the memory wasn't too clear on that. I appreciate the quick confirmation.
  2. I've been having a lot of fun lately cleaning up piles of parts with my media blaster. My focus has been on mostly doing cast aluminum parts and nuts & bolts, and experimenting with different media. Today I looked at my horns and they were horrible, so I took them off, gave them a cleaning, and reinstalled them. If anyone is interested, I've attached a few pictures of 'before' & 'after'. nasty, nasty.... but they cleaned up real well....

Am I correct in recalling this part as a cigarette lighter for a Series I car with the lighter on the console? Pictures attached: I'm sorting through a box of stuff that I got with a Series I that I had a while back and this was in it. I'm trying to confirm its application (couldn't find anything in the archives about it). Thanks!
  4. Don't forget to closely inspect or replace the flexible hose that attaches to the slave. Sorry I forgot to mention that the first time...sorry. They have been known to fail as well.
  5. FWIW.... I've had two 240Z slave cylinders go bad during normal service (others from sitting way too long, etc.) Both times I had grinding going into reverse as the first symptom, and after bleeding it doesn't always go away. My suspicion (in agreement with Arne) is that a new slave will take care of your problem. Since you got some air out of the system, that indicates a problem that needs addressed. Many people (including myself) would recommend replacing the master at the same time as the slave. One time i did not, and about three weeks later it became necessary to do so. (If the master was recently replaced, I would likely just do the slave.) Where to get them.... I think I got my last ones from MSA. Black Dragon, Rock Auto, and NAPA come to mind as likely suspects, and of course the dealer.... I'm certain that other members have some good ideas as well.... Unless the transmission was giving you some other 'signals' prior to this series of events, and you haven't been beating it to death, I would not rush to tear into it. Eliminate the simple stuff first. Please keep us posted on your progress.
  6. Welcome aboard Scarab155! You will find an interesting thread on #153 in the recent archives.... seems that there are two of that number, and one just sold on ebay.

The boot on my '72 was not glued and the clips held very tightly. How about a picture or two so we can see what you see?

Very nice looking car! And on the east coast, too! I noticed one on ebay a short bit ago in NY that resembles yours... same one?

Cleaning the connections and battery cables may not be enough. Check to see if the battery cables need to be replaced. If they are old, replace them. I did so and all of my many electrical problems were eliminated. Just take measurements and go to NAPA. I even got a cable with a built in wire for the ground at the firewall. Be confident that these cables are good before tearing into other components. (I speak from sad similar experience).
  15. If you have any experience with compressor regulators I'm seeking your advice. Mine is going south on me slowly but surely - it is starting to stick open, not allowing me to regulate the pressure down once I have it at a higher output (without a bit of fritzing around with it a bit). My question is "Can it be fixed or should I simply replace it?" I've attached a picture so you will have an idea what I'm talking about. (I didn't buy it new and assume it's a Harbor Freight quality unit.) If it can be fixed, any advice on doing so? If replacement is in order, any advice on an economical unit? (The compressor builds up a head of about 175 lbs.) Your suggestions and or advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!! Picture attached:

For what it;s worth on both topics: For the Fusible link, be confident that the one Banzai provides is good quality and a perfect replacement, I have used one for several years (on my '72), and keep a spare on hand in case of a problem. Mike will also get them to you quickly. For the washer pump, before the effort of removing and replacing, check to assure that you have power to the pump. If so, try gently whacking it with a screwdriver handle or something similar. Then have someone power it up and tap it again. I've had about 4 or 5 seized ones and gotten all but one to work that way. You've got nothing to loose, and the odds are good that it may again work for you without any great effort.

I am partial to the stock knob. I have several, and this is the one that I refreshed for use on the driver:
  18. The brake shims from Nissan look like the attached picture. Some people swear that this is the best to use. There is a left and right for each caliper; four used for a complete job. Nissan dealer can provide them for a bit over $2.00 each IIRC. Attached photo is of a right shim.

My local Nissan dealer is pleased to get the parts that I need as long as I provide the part numbers. They usually do not have in stock what I need, but get them through their system in 3 to 5 days depending upon where they are in the country (USA). Thus far I have had no problem getting the odds & ends that I need. Not cheap, but half the price of the guy on ebay..... no postage charges, either.
  20. Great!! That was a good stroke of luck with a relatively inexpensive fix! I will soon be facing the same job (and hopefully as simple as yours turned out to be). This reinforces the advice that some folks here put forth: start with the simple things.

Welcome aboard, Miguel! That's a project, yes, but you have a lot to work with. When you are done you will have a lot of enjoyment! I like those wheels! I have a set just like them that I am going to clean up and put on my '72. Keep in touch here for the best information about these cars on the Internet!

Maybe this will help.... I was looking for some of these parts as well - found them on ebay rather inexpensively.... I needed replacement for #19 because it cracked and one of the #20 pieces that grips the pad/button had broken away leaving the pad to rest in your lap after each good bump.

George71z, my thoughts are with you, and I hope you (and the Z) are high enough to avoid damage. We recently booked a trio into Melbourne to visit the Space Center in December.... assuming things dry out by then.

    Beautiful! Excellent work, Julio.
