Hatch sill replacements
Thanks for the tip Zak. I just chatted with Charlie and he is looking into it, but carries nothing in that vein. He said he might be able to get some addresses - no promises.

Hatch sill replacements
Has anyone come across a place to buy a hatch sill plate other than Z car restorations? New fabrication or a full cut from a parts car either is fine. Restorations has them but as they clearly advise it is the leftover from cutting quarter panels and tends to have the ends trimmed off 2-4"s:ermm: Thanks SB

...As for the stock radio...
I was wondering if the 73 AM/FM is the same as the 75-78 version.

Sunbeam Tiger Mkll
As to soliciting assistance from this site - all you have to say now is "sorry about that chief". Watch for the ejector seat too. Sorry. No shame there, I think that is one of the sweetest cars ever made. One of my freinds Dads owned one and we felt priveledged to get a look at it in his driveway when he had it out for a spin or wash. Recently saw it shown on "101 cars you have to drive". Only thing I wondered was - How is it for interior room? Could a big guy drive it? The host looked pretty tall in the saddle. Congratulations on your purchase.

Need weight confirmation for 240Z
I think for that purpose an approximate weight would be sufficient and in your case it would be about 2300 lbs. The later cars have the gross vehicle weight inside the drivers door jamb, that minus 400 lbs is around the cars weight. Some pictures are always appreciated. Good luck.

Dyeing Original Carpets?
BTW - the product is not recommended for a radical color change. More like coloring up to the original.

Dyeing Original Carpets?
This is definately a late reply, but may be to someones benefit. The product I used was called: "SEM Color coat" (flexible coating). Probably not an actual dye, but it worked very well and has stood up to three years of wear very well. Sorry for the earlier misleading remark - could have sworn. On the can it recommends a pre dye wash with a product called "plastic Prep" - I didn't use it, but I can see the purpose. All relevant instructions are on the can.

Overspray on interior panels
In a well ventilated place, with a rebreather and a radition suit on, "Contact cement remover" works well.

Front Differential Mount Replacement
I replaced the front mount last year - didn't fix the "clunk". The rubber was separated - so it seemed like a good fix - it needed to be replaced anyway. First drive it was back. I have replaced every bushing in the rear end (except outer control arms) including the mustache bar bushings, shocks and springs replaced. There is no slack in the drive shaft or side axles. I have learned to live with it and find that it is definately related to my driving habits. If I am sloppy shifting - it happens every time - when I am in the groove, I will go for a week without a "clunk". That's my personal experience.

Newbie here
Congrats on the purchase. Might take some time and $$ to get her perfect but once you get it running properly you'll have a reliable ride and in California you can get lots of good inexpensive parts at the scrap yards (from what I read). I believe alot of these beautiful cars went to scrap because emission laws made them too costly to fix. Anyway enjoy the car - it will bring you alot of pleasure and as Bill implied - drive safe. Good luck

Just bought Z #3, 1973
I might be a little light on the estimate - I'm still in the the mail order infatuation stage. I'm still dreaming of sliding my bulky frame into her auric pseudo leather looking fold (seats)... inserting my key.... turning her on... reving her til her oil pressure rises.... pushing her clutch in and out... rocking her for and aft... pumping her brakes forcing her to chirp in ectasy. Sorry. Yep - still in the fantasy stage. Nine more sleeps.

Why do people hide license plates?
The Enfield is a common hunting rifle up here and was very cheap to buy - must have been alot around. I display my plates without fear as well and for home protection I have a 3 1/2 inch lockblade knife that has the tip broken off (not very sharp either).

Prices have changed significantly - over 2K to Houlton maine - last year I could get from a Z from Redding to Houlton for around 1K. Spoke to the vendor regarding driving it - He says "I wouldn't ... all the rubber is original other than the tires" I think I will just take the financial kick in the arse and pay right through to the front door ($2740). For the cars - I wish I lived in California - I would have a fine collection.

My 2nd Z car

Hey Micheal - thanks - That is very generous of you. If you could give me the shipping company's name, I might ask them about a couple of scenerios.

I have arrangements with an open car carrier (truck). It nerves me out a little, but there is no other choice - shipping prices range (that I have checked) from $2500 (+200 fuel surcharge) to $5600. Stings. I sent the guy a bank draft so I have to wait till it clears befor I firm up anything. Last car I used Paypal - very quick but they charge the seller a percentage + they have some tricky stuff on dollar exchanges and international purchases. I am hoping it turns out to be as nice as it appears - like I said earlier - a different type of gambling in Nevada.
