Eco Boost f150
Just read my last post - meant to mention that I was going 60 km/h when it broke free. Thats about 40 miles per hour.

Eco Boost f150
Brought it back this afternoon and gave it a couple of darts on the open road with about a 1/4 mile ahead of me open, roads slightly wet - both times it broke free and started to go sideways (with traction control on), had to ease the gas to get her under control. I am probably going to buy one after daughter #2 gets married - nice truck, fun and practical too. It has my vote.

Eco Boost f150
Returned my f150 from a three year lease yesterday. Not really interested in getting another vehicle, but gave the salesman a few minutes of my time anyway. He was wondering why I was not getting another truck and I told him - I dont want a gas guzzler and a lower hp vehicle was not useful or appealing. He says check this out and shows me the specs on the Eco Boost f150. V6 Twin turbo 365 hp, 420 f/lb torque @ 2500 rpm. Gets 29 mpg (cdn) highway, 20 city - full tow package - rated to pull 11,000 lbs. Took it for a spin, this is the crazy part - it pulls like my 300Z. Without traction control on it breaks free vitually every time you hit the gas. Very small T lag. Anyway didnt buy it, but theres one in the driveway - sales man told me to take it home. Wish I hadn't - it's just a tease. Anyone heard anything about this setup - got one?

Fastest Car You Have Ridden In?
Fastest for me was a 69 (project) vette with a 427, 6 barrel carb. It was owned by a guy that had a local speed shop called "Karbelt" - my brother took me for a brief spin and opened it out for about thirty seconds on a main road heading out of the city. It was a frightening experience that has left me with a discomfort of driving with my brother. It was g force that impressed me. Otherwise I have to say my 300 TT is pretty fast, weight sensitive, but with just me in the car, I can get to uncomfortable speeds very quickly - it is modded a little and about 350 hp.

Strut Nut
I did it with a vise grip to hold the shaft while I turned the nut - the shock is going in the trash anyway. That was on a 77 280z - spring compressor on. Mine were all originals when done and all were very hard to remove.

Unfinished projects
Focus is hard to get when you have so many things going on. I have way too many projects as well and I need to get my affairs in order - so to speak. Currently with three cars in slings, garage half finished, basement started, paper work everywhere and like most... an outdated will. Thanks for the reminder. Good luck. Garage pic attached - shelled in only.

My first 240z!
Very nice! Congratulations - it looks very restorable and I like the colour.
-
Would it be worth it....77 280Z
I dont think you have a choice.

How rare is limegreen 240z's?
I love the colour. If I ever buy another Z it will probably be either puke green or baby s--t yellow. They are true early 70s colours.

Okay, so I found an advantage that the Canadians have...
Canadian tire aka Crappy tire Touque - funny

What is "unmolested"?
"how much liberty can one take with such statements" - an infinate amount unfortunately. Unmolested to me would imply unaltered from the intended form or non-personalized, original equipment, OEM to the degree of practical. And btw I personally molest each of my cars in the privacy of my shed, when ever I can. They never complain.

Okay, so I found an advantage that the Canadians have...
On the Princess Auto theme - I bought a lifetime supply of Z wiper refills for about $5 cdn in the surplus isle. There are some real good buys there. But better face it that alot of their stuff is less than good quality if going in for industrial use - when I buy tools there, I fully expect that they will have to be replaced or that they are disposable and thier flare wrenches really do flare when you use them on anything that is actually tight (caused much greif). So beware what you buy - if it looks to good to be true - good chance you are right.

Help - Dropped parts into the front of my engine
Been there, I lost a valve stem seal (twice - two different engines) - I decided that the parts wouldn't cause trouble in the base - left them there, so far so good. That was about two years ago.

Question on this car
No undercarriage shots and rust through on paint - if I were you, I would have to see it in person. Looks really nice otherwise (ignoring the torn seat, non stock S/W and dashcap, but I am a sucker for the colour and fresh paint.

Drug this home today
Definately L26 (my bad - should've had my glasses on)

Tall Z enthusiast
It's not just height, I am 6' 2" and just squeeze into the 280. You arse to head measurement is the factor that determines comfort in a car. Some guys on this sight claim to be taller than me without the discomfort I endure in the 280 - what else could it be. The 240 is a good fit with the spacers removed, at least two inches above my head. Currently have a 90 300 TT with tbar and that seems to a good fit as well.

Please asses this rust damage for me
Good move.

Please asses this rust damage for me
http://losangeles.craigslist.org/wst/cto/1825956728.html This is in LA for $2500 needs work but it appears to be way ahead of where you are. Check Craigslist, California is floating with Zs.

Please asses this rust damage for me
Far less expensive to start with a better starting point. The body is in very poor condition and the only tells one side of the story, alot of POs have do horendously stupid things to their cars without providing details to the buyer. There are a pile of Zs in California, save your money and buy another car - use this one for parts.

Is my compression acceptable?
dclamm - went through all that, seafoam, wynns, ATF befor I did the stem seals. Still had to do a major job. Sometimes the long route is the shortest way. Up side is I now have a good engine - virtually the same a new with more hp.

Is my compression acceptable?
I learned the hard way that compression readings need to be considered with a number of other issues, the smoking from the tailpipe is a biggie. If there is alot of blue smoke (doesnt' matter why) then there is oil in your cylinders and that will significantly alter your readings in the + range. My case I was hoping it was caused by valve seals so I wouldn't have to deal with bottom end work. Took the time to do the seals myself (great learning experience) to no availe - still had to do the bottom end. Compression was excellent due to oil in the cylinders - I now guess. Long story short - didn't feel like spending the money to repair the L24 so I bought an old zx and rebuilt the L28.
