well I'm majorly bummed
Hi DZR Sorry for the tardy response, I'm not having the same problem but it is interesting and we have similar cars. I really appreciate any experience related information that fellow Z owners offer. I'm in the furthest extreme reaches of Z territory and info is pretty well only gathered from manuals & the net up this way. Any way I wish you every success in getting your beauti back on the road. I had mine out for a blast tonight - went for a drive around the block - it took about an hour. I can't help it. I'm out of control. Good luck, would still like to see a pic if you get a chance.

Cheezzz - I went way over the top (or so I thought) this week and bid thirty bucks on a set of original key blanks for the 77. Just checked EBay - 1 hour to go $127. Now that's over the top, or is it??

Hey DZR Could you post a picture of the troubled part when you get it out. Ild like to see it. I sympathyze with your situation, Ild be disappointed as well, but like you said better like this than watching flames roll out through the hood vents on a freeway. Lucked out.

Clock Repair: Analog, 70-78 Z (Round)
Mine will only remain in motion if I give it a push every ten seconds. When power is introduced it makes a very lame attempt to swing and stops again. I gave it the recommended gnats drop of sewing machine oil - no go.

Who can guess what this is?
If you put your thumb over the rear it looks like a pretty sharp machine.

Other cars you own, or drive?

Sizing up Clutch kits
Just bought a 5 speed tranny - should have it in a couple of days. Guy who I bought it from suggested I install a new clutch while I'm at it. After 10 seconds of thought I realized he was correct - it's age and type are an unknown for me so I started looking. Then I also realized there's alot of clutch kits out there, with a wide variety of prices from $99 all parts included to $500 (just a clutch and p/p). Any suggestions?

Maybe I'm too much of a purist, but...
I think it's just personal taste, for me it's a little over the top but some of it is appealing. My personal preferance is Plain Jane outside and some beef under the hood.

Slight shimmy at 70 mhp
Sorry guys/gals - read a "shimmy" search found lots of ideas.:stupid:

Slight shimmy at 70 mhp
I recently rebuilt the front end, replacing typical wearing parts plus coupling and rack bushings to tighten steering. I installed stock wheels and wheel covers after balancing, I then took the car for a front end alignment. The car is fine to about 70 mph, then it gets a slight shimmy and if I go to 85mph it disappears (or seems to). It was bugging me yesterday so I took it to Costco and had all the wheels balanced again - they found one front wheel off a little and a rear off a fair amount. Rebalanced and took it for a road test, and still the same. Any ideas??
