Luke, I am looking at a heat shield at the moment. I am doing two things to reduce the heat. One is to wrap the headers with heat wrap and then I am going to install a drip shield under the carbs and attach a layer of heat shield to the underside. I have triple 45's and if you look underneath in the middle of the carb towards the front just in front of the 4 screws that attach the bottom plate there is a small stud that screws into the body of the carb. I have removed this stud (it just screws out) and am going to make a plate to size and attach it to the bottom of the 3 carbs with bolts into the threaded holes where I removed the studs. A friend has done the same with his Z and it seems to work OK. Geoff

I am not trying to hi jack your thread but thought you may be interested in this NZ car with VQ45 motor.
  3. g260 posted a post in a topic in Europe
Hey Fred, It's a pity we are so far away, 'down under'. In my trips to Europe back in the 70's, I loved driving (riding) the roads and passing through the many small villages along the way from the South of France down to Barcelona and Sitges. It was a fantastic time and so different to here where we travel hundreds of kms between towns and the countryside quite often stays the same. At times it can be very boring, as opposed to Europe. Ah well, maybe one day!! Geoff
  4. Richard, You might find this link of interest to learn about Wakefield Park. I know it is for an MX5 but all the same it might give you some idea about the circuit and its character. http://www.mx5.com.au/nsw/NewSite/newframes1024.htm Click on the MX5 (Motorsport) icon at the top of the page and then look at the bottom of that page and find the heading 'A lap of Wakefield', there may also be a map of the circuit. Good luck!!! Geoff
  5. Richard, A fair few of us ZCCS guys will be in town from early morning on Friday to set up for registration. Have a look for us around the Soldiers Club or in Belmore Park out front. If I get time I might venture out to the track and see how you like it. Have fun!! Geoff
  6. Hi Richard, I was interested, however I managed to pick up a set from a guy in our club in the meantime. Thanks all the same. By the way, I have received your entry for the Nats, thankyou. Not too many other ZCCQ entries though!! To date I have received about 4 only. At the same time there has not been a huge response from Vic either. There are still spaces left!!! Geoff
  7. Hi Jim, Glad to see you finally got the rego sorted out!!. Look forward to seeing you in Goulburn. Regards, Geoff
  8. Hey Brett, Your entry is in, but your drivers are a bit uncertain about 1.11's!! I think they are going to an MX5 day next month for a bit of practice. Richard, I am not sure when you will be arriving, but the circuit will be open on the Friday for one of their No Speed Limit days, anybody can have a run. Cost is $80 for as long as you like, no timing. Geoff

  10. George The amended forms should be posted up after next Tuesday. Geoff
  11. Hi George, On our first entry form we only had Concours trophies being awarded for the Best Z and Runner up and Best ZX and Runner Up because of the range of other trophies we were presenting to cater for other Nissan Datsun models, these included best interior, engine bay, engineered, etc, which a Z owner could also enter. After some discussion however we have increased the Z Concours trophies to now include all model Z's in both Standard and Modified classes in the spirit of previous Z Nationals. Geoff I hope your polishing that car up and have cleansed your mind of Mustangs!!!
  12. UPDATE RE ENTRIES FOR THE 2005 NATIONALS The original entry form listed a range of Concours classes which attempted to cater for all of the various Nissan Datsun models eligible to enter. However after deliberation the organising committee has revued the Concours classes and has added categories for the whole range of Z models in both Standard and Modified class from 240 through to 350 including 260 2+2 and Z31 and Z32. Anybody who has already entered with a Z will automatically be entered in the new Z Concours class. New forms will be uploaded soon. See you there!!!

Miles, If you follow the instructions as described in the atteched site in the Tech section/strut replacement instructions you can't go too wrong. I have used this several times and found it very straightforward. http://www.sonic.net/~kyle/ Cheers, geoff

Gav, One place for replacement door skins is Rare Spares https://rsp-secure.com/shop/?fromrsp=yes. I don't know what the fit is like, but it may be an option. Another place, although in the US, is Tabco http://www.tabcobodyparts.com/ they make a range of replacement panels for the Z including a lower repair section for the door. HTH Geoff

Richard, Goulburn can be bloody freezing at times, but hopefully in March it should be quite nice, albiet a bit cool to cold at night. If you look up Goulburn under Major Cities on this site it will give you some idea of the weather and other aspects of the countryside. http://www.visitnsw.com.au/ As for an WA Zer's attending I hope so, we will be pleased to have entries from every state (and Territory), although the bulk will probably come from the eastern states. Whilst the event celebrates the 8th Z Car Nationals it is also catering for other Nissan Datsun models. Geoff

Richard, For those competitors who do not have a CAMS licence, all that is required is for them to take out a 'Wakefield' Licence when they register on the Friday which will cost $40 and is valid for a year. Geoff

The Z Car Club Sydney and the Sydney Datsun Club are hosting the Nissan Datsun Z Car Nationals at Goulburn on the Easter weekend between 25-27 March, 2005. You can find some information on the Sydney Z Car club site http://www.zcarclub.com.au/ however, following a Nationals committee meeting tonight we hope to be able to post up the entry forms and further information regarding accommodation, classes and the motorsport events at Wakefield Park track on the Sunday. Cheers, Geoff

George, I don't believe I am ready this. Are you sure this thread shouldn't be in the Funnybone forum. Is this another one of your practical jokes!! If it is correct then I can only assume that you have been taking some form of mind altering substance that is screwing up your reasoning and logic. Don't do it. Take a deep breath and think again. As Zedrally said, you will regret it!! How could you cope without a Z. geoff
  24. Luke, If you get stuck, you might care to have a look at the Bosch MEC717 coil. It is a transformer type coil like the GT40 but is black in colour and is specified for use with electronic ignition. Cheers, geoff
