NOS 240Z Parts on Craigslist
I bought some parts from a guy a month or so around the Buford area that said he was selling the second oldest 240 in existance.I don't remember what he was asking but it was way out of my league. He said he had been working on it for years and had been collecting nos parts for years. He had several rooms full of parts still in the boxes. It was like christmas to me.I spent 1700 dollars and only one box full of parts.I saw the dash in the box but I was out of money.I bought cloth hoses, new starter, distributer and a lot of small stuff. He said he had some parts he wanted to see if Jim Fredrick or Carl Beck wanted before he sold a lot of it.I was happy with what I got so it seemed legit to me.I was there for over an hour looking and drooling. Dash Repair Process/Pictures
I don't know if this will work on dashes,But it worked great on repairing a few consoles and a lot of ashtrays. After filling the holes and cracks with JB weld I bought some silly putty and flattened it out while a little warm, then laid on flat part of console.I rolled it out until it left a good impression of texture and put in refrigerator until it became stiff. When the JB weld was almost hard I pressed the silly putty firmly but evenly over area I was working on for a few seconds and evenly lifted it back off.It left a perfect texture look. After the JBweld hardened I used the correct paint to match. It has been a couple years and I can't tell where it was repaired.I don,t know why this won't work on a dash? about this computer worm....
I don't know where it came from but it took me yesterday and today to remove a virus from my computer.I thought it was gone yesterday except there was a box on my desktop with an a in it.This morning I woke up to loud heavy metal music playing for no reason. I don't know why because I don't listen to that kind of music.I pulled up history and it showed a line of A's over and over. I updated my AVG and everything seems fine.It also kept showing an ad for virus 2009 all over the screen that would not stop popping up.It is gone now.

Here is a couple of pictures of what I am expecting it to look like except mine will have the original hubcaps. I will post pics when finished.

Price of parts
I just bought some nos parts yesterday.I told my wife I was planning on buying about 150 to 175 dollars and asked if she had that much cash on her.She didn't so she gave me a check in case I saw something else I just had to have.In 1 hour I spent just over 1700.00 dollars and didn't buy but a fraction of what I wanted.Since my car will never be in concource condition,I couldn't justify spending 10,000 in parts that I already have that can be refurbished for a fraction of that. For some one doing a full restoration275 dollars for 2 true old style radiator hoses might be a good deal but it was a little much for me. Are Reproduction parts a good thing or an evil thing
Some may think it crazy but it cost me 110 dollars each for 2 reproduction throttle knobs. That includes my donation to the club but I was glad to get them at any price. If there were no reproduction knobs what else could I do.My Z will never be in a concourse show but it looks great to me.

Got a bet here
It might not not make sense to a lot of people but that is what I win. I want her to drive my Z so she will want to go on long drives thru the mountains and down to the coast.Go out and explore all the back roads for miles around here and feel the great freedom you can only get in a Z (or some motorcycles). It is fun to do this by yourself but it will be great to share it with the one you love. To me she is the brunette next door. But the answer to your question is not what I win but what I lose.If I don't lose the weight I have to finish remodeling the bathroom I started on a year and a half ago before I can start restoring my yellow Z.

The hardest part to find
I wrote that quote the other day but I still had hope of finding the "holy grail" throttle knob. Thanks to Mike B for giving me Bryan's E-mail I now have 2 of them. Thanks for all the leads from everyone. It proves this club is willing to help anybody in need and nobody can ask for a better bunch of friends. If I can help anyone I will be more than happy to.I am going to make my donation of 150 dollars as I said to help the club. Got a bet here
Guy's I need some help here. Last night my wife was giving me a real hard time about my weight.I had a triple bypass 3 years ago and lost a bunch of weight. Until recently I had kept it off.I told her I could lose it anytime I wanted but she kept on.She said she would bet me ANYTHING and that means A-N-Y-T-H-I-N-G I want if I lose 30 lbs by June 21 09.I could not think of a thing that I want but I love to win bets.It took about 30 minutes to come up with the perfect bet. I am sure there is at least one member who's wife has complained about the sensual aroma that surrounds you as you drive along in your series 1 Z. The eye watering smell of exaust that stays with you for days but doesn't seem to bother men because it represents the good old days when you could roll your windows down to breath no matter how cold it was.Well she doesn't like to ride in the Z because of that Wonderful fragrence. She loves her nissan Frontier with all of it's ammenities including AUTOMATIC trans. She has never driven a stick and never had a desire to learn. The bet is if I lose the weight, she loses the truck and the only transportation she will have is the Z. She has to learn to drive a stick and not get any tickets. As long as I keep the weight off I keep her keys to the truck. What I am hoping for is she will learn to drive the Z for long enough to get past the smell and love to drive it. I will then get her a newer one and we can travel together in it. My problem is not food or beer but inactivity.I spend my time reading all about cars and trucks and looking for parts to finish restoring my 64 chevy truck. I need help reminding to get busy and get off my arse and exercise some. OH yea if I lose I have to finish remodeling the house before I can work on my cars.

The hardest part to find
What is is real funny is how my search for this '' Holy Grail ''took so many turns after I posted it.I noticed my Z s/n 103855 or close to that had the whole throttle assy except the lever and knob. everything else was there.since 95% of the car is original, and I came across the lever mechanism I thought it would be nice to find the correct throttle knob for that year.I have the square one but what the hell, why not try to find the correct one.I don't care if it is a reproduction or not. After looking so long I made it a quest to find one no matter what.I offered my kingdom for a horse just to prove I could find one.I doubt this Z will ever end up in a show but to me I just wanted it to be close. Maybe 000913 one day will but that is another story.I have gotten a lot of PM's about where I could get one,and have alread paid for 2 of them.I believe they exist but as of this reply the only knob in my hand right now is not a choke or throttle knob.

One to many irons just about to drive me crazy
I am sure it's only me that starts new projects every week and never gets to finish any but one or two and another deal comes along to good to pass up.Well this last one is about to drive me crazy so I thought maybe someone else might have time for another iron. A friend of mine bought a turbo 280 with the F54 block and P90 heads to build a kick arse Z with.He took it to a performance shop and with help from the owner custom ordered the best pistons, rods, and a bunch of stuff to make this thing fly.He paid for all the parts up front and most of the machine work.He ended up in the hospital with heart problems and decided he did not want to continue this car. He told me if I wanted everything at the shop I could have it for free.I contacted the shop and was told all the parts were there and most of the machine work was complete. What was left to do was optional and he would finish it if I wanted and put it back together or I could pick it up as is since it was paid for in advance.I would love to have it but I have enough to keep me busy for years to come if I don't start anything else.Being married I don't think that is likely to happen. If anybody is interested they can have it for free.I can get a list of what was done and what parts he bought if you are interested the shop told me to finish the machine work and put it all back together and dyno it,it would be 2400 dollars. 900 of that was rebuilding it and dyno.If needed I could go pick it all up and keep it here in parts unless someone wanted it put back together.I know he took all the FI off and was going to go back with SU's and they are not included but as far as I know everything else is there.I hate to see it go to waste but I don't have time for it. :disappoin Ronnie

"Rare" carbs ?/ Rebuilding
I am fixing to rebuild a set of su's and have read all the threads.I still don't know which set would be the best to redo the 3 screw or the 4 screw? The PO did some mods to the engine and I am not sure what but it has a lot more power than any other Z I have had.The only visible mods are headers, electric cooling fan,oil cooler, and an R200LSD.I have a box of SU's both 3 and 4 screw so I will redo them before I take the ones off there now.I have the video so hopefully I want have to much problem.I would just like to know which set is best? What to do....
I have 3, 70 series 1 and 2, series 2 model and 1, 72 model. My thinking is keep the series 1 cars as original as possible, and modify the 72 anyway I want, thinking putting the same money into the 72 it will never be close in value as the series 1. I am not trying to put down a 72 I just see them going for less than the early Z's. Does this have any validation or is it wishful justification
