Might be going to Germany, should I take the 240?
I don't know anything about current registration requirements but I had the pleasure of being in Germany for 3 years many years ago. It would certainly be a fun place to drive a Z. As mentioned, I know there is a large active Z group in the Netherlands. These folks are members of our Indy Z Car Club and speak fluent English. Here is a link to their Z restoration shop. http://www.autoservice-rozendaal.nl/

Picked up a new GT-R :) ...from Radio Shack
I had the pleasure of a ride in a GTR awhile back. I got the 0-100-0 demo and it was over before I knew it had begun. Wild child, it is for sure.

Door Trim Clean up question
Yes, if we all agree that we are talking about the trim in the previously posted link....the vinyl inserts will just peel out of the aluminum. Getting them back in works well with a little lube, like a liquid soap. The inserts need to be slightly longer than the aluminum holders because the plastic shrinks in the cold. The vinyl inserts can also be spray painted in a color of your choice with a plastic compatible paint, if you don't want to buy new ones.

Heat & mixture problem
In spite of what you have said, I would not rule out "vapor lock". I am the original owner of a late '74 260. It had the flattops and ran just fine for the first year. After that, those "vapor lock" type symptoms flared up. I took it to 3 different dealers and they just threw up their hands. Finally, a dealer actually suggested and did the swap to round tops. Unfortunately, that is not the end of the story. While the car did much better, it still to this day suffers those "vapor lock" problems. It still has the original heat wrap, and both the mechanical and electric fuel pumps. About 4 years ago I added a "fuel injector fan" from the S130 series. That made a huge difference in hot, humid weather. There are those that claim a properly adjusted flattop is a great set up. However, finding some one to deliver on that promise is not easy. Some suggest re-routing the fuel rails along with insulation, fans, whatever...but the most popular thing is to ditch the flattops. Strangely, some cars never seem to cause any problems and others can never lose the vapor lock issues. Good luck.

Any early-Z enthusiasts like the Z32 also?

78 280z Rough Idle When Hot!
Of course, it could be any of those things mentioned above, but I would also vote for a variation of "vapor lock". You might consider wrapping the fuel lines with insulating tape and sticking on a "fuel injector fan" from a S130. It bolts right on and made a huge difference on my forever vapor lock plagued 260Z.

2008 Int'l Convention Sep 28 - Oct 3
How's this? Unknown from Indiana wins 1st Place Daily Driver, 1st Generation! I won't suck up any room with a huge picture, just the small one at the left will do fine. The Indy Z Car Club had three winners and one of those had his two sons there who both also won trophies as members of other clubs. And finally, one of the major 1st Generation winners of two trophies was also from Indiana, just not a current member of IZCC. All in all a great event for all the Indiana guys that made the trip. We had a lot of fun. Well done, ZACO!

Rough running when started hot
Most likely still "vapor lock". I have endured variations of the same for 34 years! I did install a "fuel injector fan" from the '79-'83 model years and it has helped considerably. I just have it on a toggle switch and turn it on during hot, humid weather. Bolts right on, no problem.

Konig Wheel Issue
If you talk to the folks at MSA they will tell you to gently bang in the dust cover with your favorite hammer. That gains only a couple of millemeters but is all that is needed. You most likely won't need to remove the dust cover. I did this with my '74 260 and it worked just fine. I offered this solution before on this site and it did not set well with the purists that don't like the words "hammer" and "Z car" in the same sentence.

Worsening vapor lock problem.........
Not offering a solution to your particular problem, but I am the original owner of a '74 that has always had vapor lock issues. I added a "fuel injector fan" from the '79-'83 years that has proven quite helpful. I have it on a manual toggle switch and only use it when it is very hot and humid. It definitely helps. Just a thought for consideration.

260Z 2+2 to 2 seater conversion, anyone did that?
Just fold down the rear seat and behold...the room of a station wagon and the look of a two seater. What a perfect car!

changed fuel filter, no start
I don't want to beat this to death but....if you have a late 74 (the 74.5 with the big bumpers) there are two fuel pumps and two fuel filters as was pointed out in an earlier post. In the late 74's the filters are both in the rear, not in the engine bay. There is the small white plastic in line filter beside the electric fuel pump AND there is a small paper filter inside the electric pump. Both need to be replaced as these cars are very sensitive to dirty filters. Of course, also make sure the tank is clean as you would with any car that has been sitting for awhile.
-
Heat problem, vapor lock ???
Well, it certainly could be vapor lock. Sounds like it anyway. I am the original owner of a '74 260Z that has suffered vapor lock for its entire life. First make sure the fuel filters are clean...both the external filter in the rear and the filter inside the electric fuel pump. My car is very sensitive to dirty filters.I am running round top carbs from a '72 ,still have the original heavy asbestos wrap on the fuel lines, keep fresh filters and I still have issues. About three years ago I put an injector cooler fan from the 280ZX on my car and run it when the weather is warm. This does seem to help a great deal but it still struggles when it is hot. Good luck.

Konig Rewind wheel cap problem
The grease caps don't seem to have suffered too much with the 2 mm adjustment. In fact in this shot, I don't think they appear to be much of a problem at all. Just trying to offer the actual and practical solution for someone who wants to solve his problem. To those that consider the grease caps to be sacred ground, I suggest another brand of wheel.
-
Konig Rewind wheel cap problem
There is a simple solution. I have the same wheels purchased last year from MSA. If you check with them, they will tell you to take a hammer and pound in the dust cap as far as you can which is only a couple of millemeters. That is enough to clear the Konig caps. The dust cap should be gently but firmly pounded in so that it touches the spindle, so to speak. This works, trust me.
