  1. Also our wheels are 14x5.5 with 185/70 which is the largest width made in the 70s (i believe) for the Libre and in my opinion looks the best on the car for the classic look of not sticking out and not looking out of proportion with the size of the car and wheel wells. They are more than enough for everyday non-track driving and the car and steering do not feel heavy.
  2. The original Libre wheels were made by American Racing (I believe). I also believe they did not come with a black center and many were painted later. Here is a pic of our car with those American Racing Libre wheels. Both the VTO and BRE Libre are made by VTO. It is possible to get caps and decals with the American Racing logo for the Libre style. I also included a pic of the Morton car which (i believe) used what BRE now sells as the "LeMans" . Both are similar in size and will fit and look great.

here in so cal in the 80,s the Z was called the "poor mans sports car" because it was cheap, and in those days very cheap. The term was used to suggest that you were a poser who could not afford a new or more expensive sports car. Back in those days some felt moving "up to a 280zx" meant you were better off financially. Poor mans Porsche was always directed at 914/924 owners. Now when people see the Z they only reflect about dads or older brothers or good times with their own Z. In my part of town the old talk about poor Zs is gone.

If there is indeed only 4 to 5000 left how much longer would it benefit companies such as zparts.com to supply parts, and will others that only sell 240z parts be gone soon.
  5. I saw this car in a new issue of a classic car magazine which gives prices and auction info. The highest bid on the car at a midwest auction was 7500.00 after a relist the following day. The reviewer at the auction did not think the car is worth even 7500.00 and pointed out small rust issues bad paint in spots chips bad chrome dents dings etc. Its amazing how crazy ebay can get. its seems people get it in their head they need to win certain items that otherwise would not sell. its almost like gambling

we are getting ready to install the spook. we have read some posts about how much it helps performance. could any of you please post a picture of the correct placement for me. thanks
  7. I would like to thank MikeB for getting me the overrider bar. He was great to deal with and the bar is in great shape. He is a great example of why this Zclub is so important to us all. Thanks everyone for your input as well. P.S Enigma thanks for looking out for me too. Trisha
  8. We sold two Zs in our time. One in 1990 and another in 1999. Both were perfect second owner and fully restored. Each time we were very upset soon after and for a long time. Each time it cost us much more to replace the car. This time we will not sell again. Even our new Z does not get driven as much as we thought it would but just knowing its there is of great comfort. I can also tell you that the money we thought we needed to get out of the car was found somewhere else soon after each sale. I would just say think about it a little more because its hard to get it back when its gone, especially the way your car looks. Also with the original condition of that car that would be tough. That is your car.
  9. I dont think it matters which bumper it has because the amco overrider bar sits on top of the bumper and the upward curves of the bar are on the inside of the uprights therefore if the 73 is wider it would have even more clearance.
  10. Yea I posted in the ads a month and a half ago and got nothing so I figured I'd try here
  11. yes i'm looking for the amco bar or a bumper with it attached. We have a 72 z

Thanks For your help everyone I thought this thread was played out and forgotten. Anyway we ended up buying the Libre's 14x5.5 and they fit great on the car and it now has that classic 70's look and drives very smooth. They were painted black in the center and we had that removed and the original finish is perfect and the outer lip is polished. So some great 70's accesories were saved and we have a classic original car now. Again Thanks for all your help

Thanks for your help everyone. I found out the wheels I'm looking at are currently on a 510 so now I'm really unsure. Do you know where on the wheel (if possible) does it show the offset.

Thanks for the info. I am Ok with that size as I dont push the car to hard, generally just cruise and I like that classic 70's look.
