I've got a radiator in good condition. The other parts are on my engine but it's an L28 so I'm not sure if they'll work. I'll send you a PM with contact info. michael

lots of parts for sale
Nothing serious or life threatening - just expensive and not at the best time. Thansk for the concern though. michael

lots of parts for sale
http://www.datsunprojects.org/forsale Lots of 240Z parts for sale. I'm updating the list daily. I'm willing to work on prices. I'm hurting for cash right now so I need volume sales (found out today I have to have a ~$2000 medical procedure - after insurance!) So anyway thanks for looking. Updates may stop next week when I'll be incapacitated for awhile. I'm hoping to get rid of soem things before that though. michael

$500 for used taillights??
Probably just a case where 2 guys needed them urgently (inspection, hot date, z club meet etc coming up) didn't see any other sets on ebay at the time and so assumed they're rare parts. Oh and didn't bother to check the completed items search. That seller got lucky.

adios amigo
Well my Z is off to its new home in Tennessee. I think the new owner is going to do great things with it. I came out way behind on this project as far as $$ goes but on the other hand I learned a LOT and I'm glad I did it anyway. It's been fun - I hope I get the chance to do it again someday (except maybe actually finish....)

interchangability of hand brake cable
Well I've got a new one on Ebay right now but I improperly listed it as a 240Z cable. I'm trying to decide how to properly describe it as far as interchangability goes. Chloe sold it to me for my '72 240Z so hopefully she checked that it is interchangable. I wish I had my old 240Z cable but I think I threw it out. I don't think pics will help too much unless you have a 260Z cable, but thanks for the offer. Michael

interchangability of hand brake cable
Anyone know if the hand brake cables are interchangable from '70 to '78? The microfiche shows several part numbers. I have one that is listed for a '74 260Z only and want to know if it applies to the other years also. Thanks. Michael

Paint Colors
As far as I know 110 is the only red/orange color available for the 260Z. I don't think there were any 918 orange Z's after '73.

paint code gallery moved to zhome
With the help of Carl Beck my datsunprojects.org paint code gallery has moved to its new home at zhome.com. Here it is http://zhome.com/History/ZColorGallary/index.html We'll fix the incorrect title in the window title bar. And I'll place a link to this new location on my website. I'm mentioned this here for a couple of reasons. First I see quite a few hits from this site because links to my site are frequently posted here. So make a note of the new location. Also I wanted to thank the contributors from this site. The ones I can remember are kmack, sblake01, Giedrius, Ken, Mike, halz and daddz. Sorry if I missed some but I didn't really keep records and those are the only names from this site I could remember. Also thanks to HS30-H for info on paint codes in other markets even though I never got around to really using that info for a gallery. I also retrieved lots of useful info from various threads, in particular the threads about 904 White and 110 Red on later Z cars helping me to fill in details that were missing from the original zhome paint code list. I will still help update the gallery if I come across more pictures but for the most parts it has been handed over to Carl. Michael

Thinking of selling my Z project
Now asking $1200. If I can't sell it and have to part it out would anyone be interested in just the chassis? It's very nice but needs sanding for surface rust (underside and inside) before painting. Also minor body work. I'd let it go cheap since I don't want to see it crushed but only if it doesn't sell all together. It's such a pain in the arse to part it out I'm trying to avoid that but I need to get this thing out of my yard. Just the chassis alone woudl include all of the large body panels (2 hoods both with front end dings, 3 doors, 2 rear hatches, 2 or 3 fenders, can't remember). Well that would all go with the rolling chassis too. I spent around $2000 on parts for the suspension plus a hard to find nice chassis so I think $1200 is fair. Also many hours of work on the parts but of course you never get that back. Everything else is now for sale. The Z Therapy carbs are on ebay as well as a new OEM e-brake cable. I'll slowly put other things on as time permits. Also anyone know a way to get Carl Beck's attention? I sent him an email asking if he'd accept my "donation" of my Z car paint code gallery but haven't heard back from him. Is he the only one who updates the site? Michael

battery tray Rust!
Why do you say this? It treats whatever size area it's applied to.

Lance Armstrong
It doesn't hurt that he has a freakishly large heart among other genetic oddities. Not that his natural advantages are completely unheard of - it's just rare that someone who happens to have the right combination gets into a sport that lets him put them to good use.

How would you paint your car if?
Found this in one of those japanese galleries linked in another thread. Been done before but sure stands out! michael

Help removing the the rear suspension?
Remove the drive shaft, then the differential/halfshafts. (and disconnect the brake lines and e-brake cable as suggested). That will leave you roughly in the configuration shown here. It's fairly simple after that. Support the bottom of the strut assemblies somehow and remove the bolts that hold the inner ends of the control arms to the frame/rear control arm mount. Remove the nuts holding the strut assembly to the car and the strut assembly and control arm comes off as one piece (well 2 of them). Then get out the sledge hammer you'll need to remove the rear spindle pins if you want to completely disassemble it. I don't think I needed a book to do mine. Just take a good look and you'll pretty much see what need to come off next. The front it a little more tricky in my opinion because of the steering components. Michael

Save S30-0002
Any idea if it is 110 Red or 918 Orange? It's difficult to tell but I'm leaning more toward red. Thanks for the picture Kats. We would all love to see more. michael

SU Carb Identificaton Help
You can tell the bore size from the mounting flange. 1.75" (46mm) SU's have 4 mounting holes in the square pattern like the Z's - called HS6 type. HS4's are 1.5" (38mm) and have 2 mounting holes at 45 degrees like the one shown. HS2's are 1.25" I think (32mm?) and also have 2 mounting holes but in a vertical pattern not 45 degrees like these. I don't know of any HS2 size hitachi's used for Datsuns - anyone? Here's a little page I started making but kinda gave up 1/4 way through. It's got some SU carb pics (snagged from ebay) that may be useful. http://datsunprojects.org/mps210/carbs/ michael

SU Carb Identificaton Help
yeah ddufty. like I said in reply to your gallery post - 1.5" bore carbs off of a 510, Roadster or some other Dat with the smaller bore SUs. michael
-
Su identification help
Looks like an HS4 type from the bolt pattern (1.5" bore as opposed to the 1.75" bore on the Z cars). Maybe from a 510 or Roadster.

'71 240 upgrade to 4 piston calipers????
Do a search for "S12-8" on this site and you'll find info on a bolt in 4-piston upgrade. Much cheaper than MSA. If you want to take it a step further the S12-W allow for vented rotors but require a spacer. These are Toyota calipers by the way. Michael

Thinking of selling my Z project
AWC there's a title, but it wasn't transferred to me or the previous owner. He said it'll be no trouble to transfer as long as there is a bill of sale. Last registration was '89. There's no primer on the car yet. It was originally silver so some of it is bare metal and some of it is paint. I took a few pictures today - I'll post them tonight or tomorrow.
