How to hotwire a Fuel pump?
Congrats! Hope you drive safe. If you start to get slugish or spits and sputters under pedal increase then check you filter. Its there to stop the crap from getting to the pump and may be clogged depending on how clean your tank is.

Distributor question
You can still get rebuild kits from Nissan. I have 2 E12-80's that all have a different part number on the housing. Just remember the 240 distro is smaller than the later 280 distro's. Here are some of the E12-80 PN: Nissan Replaceable Part Numbers: Breaker plate: 22136-H9501 Pickup coil: 22229-Q1700 Magnet: 22158-S6700 Stator: 22163-Q1700

Your best Z find
I thought it would be interesting to hear about great Z car finds. It could be a nice car for cheap or just that special part you been looking for. Lets all try and list a great story or if you have a super bad one go ahead and tell everyone. I will start first. It was about 1994 and I was living in Walnut Creek CA, looking for a vehical. I was mostly going to tow truck places and finding cars that were being sold for back storage fees. I had gone to look at a truck that needed a clutch and missed buying it by about an hour. The great thing was there were 2 280Z's sitting in the lot both for sale. One had a hole in the engine block but was a solid car. The other had been wrecked. Ran head-on into a telephone pole. Just been restored and had a newly rebuilt L28 with a nice cam upgrade. I just happen to getting both of the cars for 600.00 and that includes towing to the house. Did the engine swap and a few parts here and there and drove her for 5 plus years. The great bonus was I made 200.00 off of the old body and parts.

How to hotwire a Fuel pump?
Trust me I ran my Napa filter for about 3 months before I had the tank POR-15ed. I would get under there and replace it about evry 2 to 3 weeks. A Z machanic told me that he would put a race filter under there for about 100.00 or so. The problem with the G3 is the inlet/outlet size Thats why I gave the part number for the Napa filter same thing just no see through.

How to hotwire a Fuel pump?
Well I can not see the pictures. The link is broke to me. The line from the tank to the fuel pump is going to be 5/8". You should run the hose so it will loop around. Make sure you filter is placed so the arrow is going with the flow of gas. Now sometimes you will have to prime the fuel to the filter by hand. A new filter has a lot of space for that pump to fill with fuel. My pump would never pull enough to prime the pump. I always put the fuel line set-up together attach to the tank and then put a little suction on the line to get fuel through the filter being very careful not to injest any fuel. It tastes worst than a BBQed possim on Thankgiving.

transmission swaps
What engine you have? L24,L26,L28, Turbo? Also what gears do you have in the diff. 3:54, 3:90 or 4:11. are you wanting take off or MPG. A 4 speed has better take off due to the gears being wider/longer or you could get the shorter style 5-speed.

How to hotwire a Fuel pump?
Just turning the key to the on position should provide power to the pump.

just when I think I can fix something!
If you drained your tank to empty it takes 3 gallons of gas to even come close to start trust me I went through this to. Put in 4 gallons. It will take a minute to let the pump prime.

Fuel line (searched)
Taking a look at the 1976 service bulletin Line 1 should be 1/2" hose nothing special here. Lines 9, 10, 11 and all the rest should be 3/8 Fuel Injection hose. You need special FI hose for everything after the fuel pump. Due to the higher pressure being produced from the pump. :nervous:Here is my 2 Cents :nervous: Go ahead and get 1 1/2 feet of the 1/2 hose. About a foot of the 3/8 FI hose and replace all hoses on the fuel rail while you have it unbolted. Also go to napa and pick up the 1/2" inline filter. Napa Gold Filter PN: 3299 Place this between your pickup line and your fuel pump. This will keep crap from gettin to the pump. 4.00 investment. Good luck

70´ 240Z burn-out just for fun
Dave, That was pretty cool how many gears did you make it through? What was that sound of metal bumping at the end? You missed the guard rail right? Hope so, anyway I have contacted the local sheriff and relayed your information to them so you should be hearing from them soon.

I have not polished my intake yet. Those pictures are from others cars. I would imagine some power tools would have been used to. I would strart with a rough grade sandpaper then go down. Try the Atlantic site for more detail. http://www.atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/misc.htm

1976 280Z 33000 miles
I would sell mine for 4 as is. It needs painting and shocks. Has some rust behind the doors and basic surface rust in the engine area but other than that it has some custom mods. You can find one in better condition or at least talk the guy down from his price.
