mystery part '77 280
Looks like a part that should be for Tach or dimmer ect. I just seen that on my car when I had the dash out and it is not for the AC.

differences throughout 280z production
Alot more than you would think. The 75 and 76 are just about the same just a few minor things between those two. 77 and 78 are very different than the 75 or 76. Fuel tanks, emissions, head castings, clocks. For instance the wires under the center consol are different in a 76 than in a 77 or 78, the turn signal switchs are different, There are many differences those are a few things off the top of the head.

Bucking and then died and won't start again
Jake, You have some issues with that car. Have you been putting your wallet in the consol? I would start by getting the battery tested or replaced if need be. Then have the Alt tested at Autozone or nearest parts dealer. If its bad go ahead and switch to the ZX Alt. For the the over heating issue could be a bad cap, stuck thermostat, clogged radiator or bad water pump. I prefer to change the cap, thermostat and flush the radiator when I get a new used car you never know how long it was sitting. Now to the fuel issues. From my trials and errors its easier to do it right the first time then to keep doing it over and over. Blow out the fuel lines from the carbs back to the tank and make sure the gas cap is off when you do this. :stupid: Once you do this you can pull the tank and clean it out along with replace bad fuel hoses. Its probly rusted and full of black crap stuck to the bottom. If its not then sell it on Ebay for a couple of thousand Dogma has a great write up on the site

Thanksgiving devorce
Bill, Are you headed to see your parents?
-
My turn signals are dead.
There are 2 flasher units under the dash. Did you check both of them? They are both on the left side. If your flashers are out then here is where they are. Start at the basics. Fuses, Flashers, Hazard Switch, Wiring, Turn signal switch ect. Take a look at the pic for placement.

It is a small world out there. Everynow and again you run into situations like that. How crazy can things get.

Gas Tank
I have the POR-15 tank treatment and the JTR Radiator in my 280Z. I like the JTR it keeps the car colder than the Stock radiators do.

Rb20det
Red_Dog007 I have a 76 280 L28 N47 stock for the most part upgraded airfilter, electric fan and alluminum radiator. If you drive it right off the line you can beat that mustang. I have done it before. I have looked at most different ways to get faster in my car but I have desided to go Turbo with an F54 block P90 head and an aftermarket fuel system so I can fine tune everything.

Bonzi turns Blue
Looks great. Love the blue, but you missed a spot. When it comes to painting some painters want it assembled so the color will match better but others like to paint each part separated so they can get to every angle.

1974 260Z Dash Lights Not Working
Did you remove the dash? Did you put new bulbs in? Did you check the fuses? Are all the wires connected (right)? Is the battery connected? Does the car still start and run? more exact info needed to give better advice.

Anyone know about a lot of dings?
Put the 77 parts on the 78. Why waste a new paint job. Use the 77 as a parts car. You could also drive both and use the 78 for weekends and meetings.

L24 smoking badly. Teardown pics... any opinions?
Sounds like d240zx2 wants you to rebuild the engine. I would say to heck with it and drop an L28 in its placce that runs better. Now if you have matching numbers keep the old one and rebuild it. If money is an issue go with L28 if not then go crazy with the L24.

shifter bushing
I don't like the atlantic Z set up, did that and it just does not fit right. Drilling and sorts. If you want quiet then use the nylon/plastic bushings if you want long life out of them, use the brass ones.

Cleaning rims, an experiment
Here is the best and probly the cheapest. Smiple Green. I spray it on undiluted and then wipe clean and rinse with water. Best of all it hurts nothing. For that hard to get spot a nylon or brass brsh does the trick. It also leaves a shine.

New to Z
Wish you luck on the new Z car. I wish I has a 1927 240Z. I would sell it for a couple of Million. No just kidding. Make sure you give it a real good tune up before starting. Plugs, Oil, Radiator Water and Ect. Welcome and feel free to ask questions after searching.
