You could always filter it yourself. The only bad thing is you have to inhale it and this is not always a great idea. It will get you a little light headed but if you only take little breaths you should be fine. No just kidding don't do that. Take it to an AC shop and let them recover it. You might be able to find a place that will come to you if you look around a bit.

I have seen those before mike. Never on a car but who in there right mind would spend 12,000.00 on a set of rims and tires?

I remember watching him when he first came on the TV here in the states. Me and some of the boys always tried to catch his show and drink a couple of brews while he wrestled his crocks. He will be missed. May god bless his family.

Well I don't attend school but I do go to work on an Army base with quite a few ricers. They used to give me sh!t about the 280 until I raced a couple of the guys on the street. Its not hard to beat a Honda who can only go 80 85 tops due to the computer. Ever sence I bought the 300ZXTT I have had no more problems from anyone at work. I guess they know the Z is faster than a fly on crack.

Look its multiplying. Hurry someone step on it. RFOL Just kidding on ya. Looks cool what did program did you use?
  8. KDMatt, When it comes to adjusting the valves it is not all that hard. You can mess things up but follow some instructions. I learned by just getting in there and trying it myself. I don't recomend this for anyone unless you are brave. You are not going to drop a valve into the cylinder unless you are taking this area apart. You should get an extra hand, it makes the job so much easier and quicker.
  9. I went and bought the 300ZXTT a couple a days ago. WoW is it so much faster than old betty. It is fun to drive but its still not my 280. I will try and post a couple of pics of it for you guys in the near future or as soon as it stops raining here in GA. I will be selling my 76 in the next couple of weeks so stay tuned.
  10. One thought that comes to mind. Do you have a 2 groove pully or a single groove pully on you car? My 76 280 has one divit on the crank pulley and the timing pointer is on the drivers side. I would use Zack's way to set it up to the TDC then use something like a white paint marker or even typing whiteout to mark the pully.
  11. Could also look into the plug wires, Dizzy cap and rotor. That can also cause the plugs to foul out.
  12. Almost sounds like you have a blockage in the fuel line somewhere. Does the fuel presure stay at 35 when you have it under a load and run about 2000 to 3000 RPMs. Check your fuel lines to see if they are clear. You might think about draining your tank and seeing what comes out.
  13. 1. Don't use them 2. Don't know / refer to # 1 3. Don't know / Refer to # 1 Try this thread http://classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=22124&highlight=coil+overs or this one http://classiczcars.com/forums/search.php
  14. Try taking a look at this spot first http://www.atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/efisystem/280zfuelinjectionbook.pdf then tell us your problem. Those of use who have the FI or know about FI may just have an idea on how to help you.
  15. Just what I was thinking. Is it me or do these cars look like a shark when the bumper are off? Hey Pro you could go to HomeDepot and get some stucco mesh for the front grill. Its like 8.00 for a sheet. Will help close of that gap in the front that. I can't stand having that gap in my car.
  16. Don't worry Jeremy we are all novices unless we helped design and build the car, but that would make use what in our 60's. No offence to you guys over 60/the hill RFOL. I would watch out for EScanlon though he is one of those guys that knows his chit. When you get inside of the door you will see how everything works and we hope you find out what is wrong with it. Just keep us posted so we know what was wrong with your door locks.
  17. Went out last night and drove the car. Looked it over very good. Put it on the lift and walked it with a flashlight. I can see what is wrong with it and the owner has the parts to fix it but just has not got around to it. The wife loved it, she never even knew she was doing 80. So I think I am going to go ahead and pick this car up for the price. It is a good deal only 6500 for the car and in good shape. Going to keep the 280 around for a while until we get used to the new car and then sell it. Who know we may adding somethings to the 300 and end up selling it.
  18. Keys Keys Keys and more Keys. Lets just forget about my keys and the comments I have add to the thread. We have lost focus on PirOSan's problem. He has problems with his door locks E has set him in a good direction to fix his problem. As I stated before PirOSan, Have you been able to get to your door locks? Keep us updated on your problem.
  19. Stephen, There are two seperate key patterns. I think my Ignition was replaced along the way. I am not worried about my 2 keys. I kind of like using 2.
  20. Thank You E for helping me figure out my the situation. You are right I should have went into more detail. Sometimes I take forgranted people know about these cars and understand what should be done. I'm glad there are no little green men in your door either, I have found traces of little red men eating the metal before on other cars. As far as the 2 keys. I was wondering about this due to just that reason. I have 2 keys and I can only start the car with one but can unlock the trunk, doors with either of them.
  21. You are right on that they do cost a lot of money to keep up. I have been lloking at 300ZX.com and other sites to get the most comon probls and it seems like the time to repair thses it most of the cause. Now some parts are a bit up there. The cost of up-keep for the car is what would cause me to say no on it.
  22. ok I'm lost now E if the picture of the FSM did not work out or is wrong let me know. He may have a rod broken or mis-aligned rod but yes the key cyclinder and the interior latch/remote control lock does have some control don't you think. I would still start looking for door locks and tear into the doors and find out what is wrong with them it could be as simple as the dovetail is broken or there is a piece missing. Just a quick question E what does control the door lock in the door? little people from Mars? I am thinking here and I am not trying to argue with EScanlon but trying to help out a fellow Zer. If the key portion works on the drivers side that is great but what would make the lock portion just fall like it was weighed down like a brick? All I can think of is the Door lock(item 3) is broken or the like E says the door lock is not going all the way over to the right possition. But wouldn't the door just open if that was happening or it would at least rattle like most of them do now days, due to miss alignment and a bad striker.
  23. From what I can tell the AC was put in most if not all Z cars built after 76. I know in 76 it was an option (dealer installed) and I think in 77 and 78 it was still an option but you got AC from the factory. Don't take this as law but from what I have seen in cars and from the ones I have owned all of them have had AC in them (it has never worked). It may have been an option still in 78 but I have seen nothing but factory AC systems in 78's. I think they just lasted longer. There is a theory behind this but that's to long to get into. Keep the AC in the car it will make it more valuable but if a stripped engine bay is what your after then leave it out. If you are after better HP then just pull the belt off when you don't need to use it. That's my 2 cents and thats about whats its worth.
