Determining paint code
My engine bay is painted black. It looks like sh!t with all the black paint chipping off. Plus the PO had it painted gray instead of just keeping original color. Which is 305 light blue. Plan on taking it back to 305 one of these days.

Determining paint code
If your paint code is gone in the engine bay you just might have a hard time finding out the true color. As Arne said you have pretty much figured out the original color is going to be the orange. You can try this link here to find out what matches the best. http://zhome.com/History/ZColorGallary/ You can always go down to the local auto paint store and look thru the books they have and compare the colors.

Engine parts Identification of year/type help ...
you say the header is a P90A. Do you mean header or the head??? Yeah the header would be better than the stock exhaust manifold which you have on the car. Good luck on the performance parts. Like you say the real question is what was taken off and sold seperate. You may never know.

Z pictures!!! Help
Hello ladies and gents, I am looking for pictures of the letter Z for a painting project. Have looked on the net and did not find what I was looking for. I would like to find the Z that looks like the emblems with the dash in the middle of the letter. you know like on the side of the car behind the quarter window. You can email them to me or post them here on this thread. Thanks, John jjohnnyb_1@msn.com

Engine parts Identification of year/type help ...
Nice find on ebay not bad price for the stuff you won. The first pic is a set of headers that you got right? the second pic is the exhaughst manifold on your car right? If so then switch to the headers in the first pic. Only if you have the right exhaust ports (some are round some are square). You will have to find out what the head number is on the heads to find this info. If they are the same then great. the head number is located between #1 and #2 spark plugs. Something like E31(would be nice ), E88(would be nice  ), N42(not bad ), N47(the worst :tapemouth ), P50(good :classic: ), P50A(better :cheeky: ) would be there. It is raised a little bit above so seeing it should not be hard. As for the sort shifter that is not hard to change out at all. I personaly think it looks like a shifter from a ZX but I maybe wrong :stupid: . Check out this page for info on changing this item out. http://www.atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/shifterbushing/index.html Just a snap ring, pull the pin and out comes the shifter. Its not that hard. I just did my on the 76. I ended up using the HELP kit # 38388 took a drill and a 11/32 bit and drilled out the shifter and grinded the bushings just enough on the bench grinder. I had an extra transmission sitting in the shop next to the grinder so it was simple. Made a great difference in the way my tranny shifts. The tranny is not my best area but I do know there were 3 types 5 speeds made for the Z and its BIG Brother the ZX. One was the early type that really was not very good due to the fact it has problems loosing 5 and reverse. The second one was better in quality and Nissan I guess fixed this problem. There is no way to tell these apart from what I have been told and read. The third one is a T5 borg warner. This came in the 83 ZXT I believe. It is very good and very hard to find. It is also very difficult to put in the 240 260 and 280s but worth it to me. Your alternator is hard to tell from this angle for me. I would have to see it from the back to tell what one it is.

gogriz91, Yes you can put a twin turbo on the l28. You just have to find the items for it. I have only seen a few in the years I have been around the Z car. You can try this link for a look at what it costs and how it is set up. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/JDM-IHI-RHB6-280Z-260Z-240Z-S130-S30-TWIN-TURBO-KIT-NR_W0QQitemZ8031899830QQcategoryZ33742QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Fly wheel removal
hope this helped you and you got the flywheel off ok. I ended up having to do this about 3 weeks ago. This way is alot easier than trying to hold the flywheel with a long rod or something of that short.
-
Fly wheel removal
I used a bolt from the clutch and one from the starter. Then took a piece of metal (1/8th inch) with two holes in it (it was about 3 to 4 inches long) and screwed in one bolt to the flywheel then with the other hole I lined it up with the starter bolt and screwed it in. I didn't tighten the bolts all the way down. Then removed the fly wheel bolts one by one. This will keep it from spinning on you.

NGK wires
You can see the spark flow to the plug. You can only see it when it is dark though. Its not bright enough to see durring the day.
-
NGK wires
Still looking for those wires I wonder if they were NGK? I am pretty sure they were NGK.

NGK wires
I once had a set of NGK wires on my 75 280 that were clear. I was wondering has anyone ever heard of these and if so does NGK still make them? I would like to have a set for my 76. Its a cool look to watch the spark travel to each plug. Just wondering if anyone has heard of this..

Anybody building headlight relay harness?
Dave, If you could email it to me I will work on getting it posted here with links for the pictures. Maybe some kind of a tech subject/write up.

Anybody building headlight relay harness?
I also would be interested in building these for people if I could find the plans. I would like to have better power out of my lights. If anyone has plans you could send them to me. I would like to take a look at them.

Ugly
Dude why you Ripping on my first car. I was only 16 dude. Na just playin. Those both are very interesting cars. Might be funny if the blue one shot flames about 10 ft into the air. The green car looks like a mix between a low rider and a bad dream. Can't believe someone did this to a car. john

Tank/Fuel leak????
These tanks are a pain in the A$$ after 25 years or more. I wish there was a way we could have them made under 500 smacksers. I wasn't leaking but My pickup and return lines were clogged. I had posted a tread on red-kote tank liner here http://classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19514&highlight=gas+tank after all the work I did on this tank I still had to take it out and to get new lines welded in place. The bast thing to do is just like montoya_fan01 said take it to the radiator shop and have it tested and repaired. I did get my problem fixed on my tank and I wish all of you the same luck.
