Signals just stopped working (friends Z)
Working on a biddies Z where his signals just stopped working all together. One day both blinked fine. Next day, nothing. No solid light or anything. Just move the wand and no signals. I checked and all the bulbs appear to be fine. I had a Beretta that did this once and I swapped out the signal thingie (technical name ya know) under the dash and they worked after that. Any thoughts?

Moving overseas. Selling my baby.
It is indeed painful to even consider selling her. I keep going over the possibilities of storing it in a mini storage or something, but that usually is not very good for a car. I'll try to run out with my digital cam since I want photos first and formost for me.

Moving overseas. Selling my baby.
See my avatar. I will be moving in the next year. Probably November or December. My wife and I have been praying about this for awhile and we are going to be moving to Hong Kong. So while this is both exciting and frightening at the same time, it means selling most of the things I hold dear. Including my Z. I have had alot of Z's over the years and finally settled down to two. Last year finances forced me to sell my '73. I have been working on the '75 and had no intention of ever selling it. I even evaluated taking it with me but the cost of shipping it and the cost of driving it there proof to be too much. So I have to sell it. I am the 3rd owner. It has about 81K original. Checking the original pads, this can defiantly be believed. The previous owner took it down to parts and sandblasted and completly repainted it Aztec red. I no longer have the gold wheels. I have Outlaw II style wheels on it. Formuling type 13" steering wheel, full 4-point roll bar. The interior is extremly clean. No rips. '80 5-speed with 2+2 clutch and pressure plate. The front and rear bumpers have been shaved and are flush, which gives it a somewhat of a Bulldog look. '83 turbo hood scoop has been grafted on the hood. Engine very clean. Runs beautiful. This is my daily driver. It looks and runs so great. I love my car. I get looks all the time and offers for it. But I want a true Z lover to have it. I have literally a truckload of parts (extra 5-speed, electrical parts out the ying-yang) that can go with it. I have it appraised for $10K. For insurance purposes, they would only carry it to $6500 so if anything ever happened I would get that much cash (insurance companies have this stigma on cars that are 30 years old?) So I got the voucher (from Huber in Tulsa, the guys that restore Ferraris and classics, so they definatly understated the value) saying it was worth $6500. Wah. But it was covered. So I am asking for the same $6500. I know I cannot get what its worth or what I have in it. And I know I cannot buy and built one like it for $6500. No way. But it is definatly worth it and I defiantly do not want to sell.

Flat Tops?
Check these out with the caption "I am told they are the ones people want." This actually should go under the jokes section. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2400643082&category=33550

Electric fuel pump
Well on my '73 here is what I did. I took off the manual pump and got a Purolater pump in the blue package from Pep Boys and mounted it in the rear. Holes matched exactly. A few rubber grommits insured that it would not vibrate. I then wired it up. After that I wired up a ful cutoff switch and installed it. Then I had the means to turn off the pump and also added security.

Body buff??
Weekends are difficult. I work for SprintPCS and therefore have to work on the weekends. I'll have to check and see if I can get some time off here and we shall see. Working 55 hour weeks kinda sucks.

Body buff??
So while spray paining my carport, I somehow got some over spray and got some paint mist to fly over my car. Yeah I'm pissed but I suppose it could have been worse. So now I have little paint spots misted all over the car. Each is about the size of a pin drip (About the size of the period on my keyobard here) and they are spread out maybe two or three inches from each other. I want an easy method to remove them. The paint on the car is decent but I had not waxed in a while. Any thoughts?

Ever get the urge to 'lose' the Z?
We all get the urge sometimes, but its nothing a cold shower won't fix. Yeah, I'm not immune. I usually hate the little ricey Hondas but I saw a CRX the other day that looked good. Maybe because it was not overdone, which is the norm for these cars. But then I get in my Z and everything is okay again. Yep, I need a completly new suspension and the ball joints are shot. But it runs and gets 22mph which is okay.

280Z 1980 value?
Depending how it runs and how it looks, I'd say $1000 UP. Consider what it is worth to you first. I've seen 280ZX's that were worth $5k easy.

CCZCC Yard Sale...
I have a N47 I would gladly trade for that P90. Actually I have two N47 heads I would trade for that P90.

A Z Ferrari, for real...
I wonder if something like that is available in the United States?

how do i go fast??!!?!?!?
Typically one goes fast by pressing the petal on right all the way down. Okay just messing with you. Oh come on, you had that one coming. Blower on a stright 6? Um, sure; why not? But honestly there really is so much you can do wih a Z. Before you start modding like a mad dog, you need to ask yourself what you want to do with the car. Race only? Smoke Hondas all the time? Or do you want a daily driver with some zip? Bottom line, you can put all $8K in the straight six and there will still be Hondas somewhere that will take you. Or you might consider a V8 swap. If so, go to www.hybridz.org and, believe me, they have great advice. If you want to simply enjoy your Z and still have a little meat under the hood, consider putting a L28 in it from a '75-83 280ZX. Plenty of online help and its more or less a drop in swap. IMHO, I believe you will enjoy the L28 more and still get performance out of it.

Door Swap? will a 77 driver door fit my 240?
Here is what I have heard. Take it for what it is worth because I have honestly tried very little. The physical size of the doors should be the same. But the mechanism inside the doors might not be. Later model 280Z had a differnt locking mechanism. I was helping a friend with his 240Z a few years ago and we had to take the doors off. When we went to put them back on, I put (by mistake) on of my old 280Z doors on I had next to the house. It was obvious it was not the door from the color, but we became curious and tried it. It bolt on alright but didnt want to shut. We took it off ad put the correct door on. I imagine the later model 280Z have a diffent door striker mechanism also. Bottom line, it might work but check out the striker at the junk yard and get both if you can.
