8mm rod bolts and racing
If I remember correctly, the only block that came with the 9mm rod bolts was the 260Z p30.

Need some feedback before possibly buying this hood and fenders...
where are you located? there are a few Z's over here in the local Sacramento PNP's that have vented 280Z hoods.

look along the bottom of the car, in the same area as the dog legs. There looks to be paint missing/scratches.

fron wheel bearing tightening
Tighten the nut up until it's touching the assembly, then back it off a very little bit (like 1/4 of a turn) until the rotor spins freely, but does not wobble if you pull on it.

Pulling engine
I removed the brackets on my Z when doing the head gasket swap, and lost them. When I pulled my engine/put it back in, I just ran a length of chain from one engine mount to the other, and then tied a small piece of rope to the water inlet on the back of the head and then to the middle of the chain where the hoist was hooked onto. This worked really well, and was easy to maneuver as well. I live in Sacramento, so if you need some help pulling your engine, let me know and I might be able to lend a hand.

Intel Pentium D 820 and Intel Mobo, discounted price for ClassicZcars.com
(Note: I didn't see any place for stuff unrelated to Z's in the classifieds, so I figured I'd place it here) Hey guys, I'm trying to sell my cpu/mobo combo that I bought about 6 months ago. It's an Intel Pentium D 820, with an Intel D945PSN motherboard. It comes complete with all boxes, software, and I will also include an updated driver cd with it. I want to sell this as soon as possible, because I need some funds for a new project. The setup is used, but well taken care for, never overheated, and it did a great job for gaming. I've got it listed on Craigslist for $220, but I'd be willing to let it go for less to anyone here on CZC, since you all are like family to me. If you're interested, send me a PM, or post in this thread, with an offer, and I'll get back to you with the details. Any other questions, or want to see some pics, check out my craigslist listing here: http://sacramento.craigslist.org/sys/221495124.html Also, I'll be posting this on Zdriver.com (since the guys there are cool too), so if you see this ad there, don't feel like I'm trying to scam or anything, I just want to sell this to fund my project. Thanks!

this isn't going to turn into any Zcar.com bs, is it? that's why I no longer frequent that site.

SU help
you guys are thinking of the Boost Controlled Decelleration Device, or BCDD. It is only present on the fuel injected cars, and is used to slow down the drop in engine revs when driving to fully burn fuel when the engine is raced and then the driver decides to slow down.

low oil pressure?
A way to check your oil pressure gauge is to disconnect it from the sender unit, and ground it against the body. Have a friend sit in the car, and if the gauge is working, then when you ground the connector, the needle on the gauge should shoot all the way up, to where it would theoretically have max pressure. If that works, then your oil sender unit is faulty.

Dancing Ammeter Continues!!!
have you installed either the diode or arne's voltage regulator adapter? The original 240Z alternators were externally regulated, where the VR was on the right side of the engine bay. If you have an external vr on an internally regulated alternator, you'll have issues.

Help me install my ceiling fan wiring!
thanks to everyone and their responces. I knew how to wire the light, but I needed ideas as to how to get the wires down in the wall. I finally came up with the idea to just drill a hole in the very top 2x4 on the inner wall in the attic, and run the romax down through my hole and to my power plug. Because the romax can snag and bend, I came up with the idea of using collapsible tent poles to feed the romax in, by taping the end of the romax to the end of the tent pole. I got up in the attic, my dad was down at the socket, and after a few minutes of moving it around, we got the tent pole/romax idea to work! Here's a pic of our fine work.

Help me install my ceiling fan wiring!
no offense E, but I think you might be mixed up. My dad used to do commercial wiring back in the day, and he says that black is always your power, white is your common, and green or copper is your earth.

Help me install my ceiling fan wiring!
I was thinking about that, and I may decide to go that route, if my dad and I can't figure out how to get the wire physically between the wall and wire it to the outlet.

Help me install my ceiling fan wiring!
hahaha, I didn't even think about it being construed as that. I wonder if that would be a ricer mod... Unfortunately, we don't have a basement, so all of the wiring is in the attic. I don't visibly see a junction box in the attic, so I'll have to climb up there and see if I can find one. My other idea is to drill a hole right above my electrical outlet in the attic, through the top 2x4 that finishes off my wall, and slide the rollomax through the wall and down to my power outlet, which is controlled by my light switch. I'll just have to climb up there and investigate again, but I could have swore that I didn't see any junction box up there! I just wasn't sure that there would be a junction box for my light switch/power outlet since I don't have a pre-existing light fixture in the ceiling. Damn lazy home builders.

Help me install my ceiling fan wiring!
Alright guys, here's an off topic project for everyone. I just bought a ceiling fan from Lowe's yesterday, and I want to install it in the middle of my room. The problem with the idea is that my bedroom did not already come equipped with a light fixture in the ceiling, so I will need to run the wiring to the fan itself. I want to be able to control the power going to the whole fan by my light switch in the wall, which turns off power to an outlet that is just a few feet away from the switch itself. It sounds really easy: get in the attic, mount the fan (which was pretty easy), find a junction box for the light switch/wall outlet, splice the fan wires in using rollomax, and voila, a light! Well, the hard part is that I am unable to locate a junction box in the attic. It seems as if the wiring for the outlets just drop straight down through the top of the wall, through the wall, and to the power outlet. The only problem with that though is that the wiring needs to go to the switch first before it goes to the outlet, and I cannot seem to find this wire. I could be wrong, it might be there, but I had to climb out of the attic since I was itching profusely and could not breathe. So, has anyone else ever wired a ceiling fan to a wall outlet? If you have, please help! I just have to find a way to possibly connect the wiring to the outlet itself, without destroying my walls.

oil pan plug copper washer
any auto parts store should stock the plug and the washer. When I stripped mine out, I believe it was less than $5.

got a driveline issue. who wants to lend an ear?
what year is your Z? I know that on my 72, the driveshaft u-joints can be replaced with a hammer and a socket. If they aren't serviceable, any driveline shop should be able to remove your current u-joint, and press in another one.

Whats your most outragous kill story?
I was driving a few years back, same night my numbers matching block spun a rod bearing, and I was driving away from a 4th of July fireworks show. My Z's idle was low and she felt like she wanted to die, so I was feathering the throttle to keep her running. My exhaust is just straight pipe from the exhaust manifold out to a melted glasspack, so she can be pretty loud when the revs get up. A 95+ Mustang GT comes up next to me, with 5 people in it, and the driver wanted to impress the girls in the car with him. He saw me, noticed that I was feathering the throttle, and though I wanted to race. I knew it was a bad idea, so I just kept looking forward, and kept the engine running. The light turned green, he jumped on the gas, and took off in a roar of american muscle. What he didn't notice is that there were TONS of police everywhere, and actually a few cruisers just a little down the street than ran perpendicular to the street we were on. The cruisers noticed his antics, and took off after him. He was issued a pretty hefty fine, and his friends in the car behind him even had the nerve to follow me and let me know that I was lucky that I wasn't ticketed too. Not my fault I keep my eyes open.

What would you like to add to your S30?
Money to be able to finish her up and have an awesome paint job. She just needs a little bit of work, but I want a nice paint job on her.

did you get the engine bored over, or was it just honed? (It appeared bored to me).

What is this?
might as well, if the other one is in poor shape as well. Black Dragon Auto (Victoria British) sells the boots as a kit for $24.95 + s&h. It looks like you're going to have to dismantle your steering rack to get them on. If you replace them, let me know how it goes, I have to replace mine since it's almost gone altogether.
