  1. Here are some thoughts by Diseazd in this thread: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=39720
  2. Ok, I guess I am a little behind, as the 40th anniversary Z came out this spring. Looks pretty cool!
  3. I was reading in today's local paper a review on the 370Z, in coupe, roadster and Nismo versions. In addition, they were talking about Nissan introducing a 40th anniversary edition "complete with compulsory badging (embroidered seat backs and floor mats) and equipped with a sports package, 19 in wheels, splashy red leather inside and Nissan even throws in a satin car cover". I searched prior posts and have not seen any comments or pics of the proposed 40th edition. Anybody see what this is going to look like?
  4. Thanks, Julio, I appreciate your consideration!
  5. Julio, I appreciate you considering it, please let me know if able to create another center vent and what you would be willing to sell it for. Thanks!
  6. Julio, would love to buy one of the center vents from you, if you are interested in selling one! I have the Hot Rod Air system and have modified the existing center vent to work with a later model Z vent diffuser, not the greatest solution. Let me know!
  7. My brother-in-law got this for me, not sure where from, but it is fun to own! Sorry about the dust!!
  8. Following Arne's advice, TDC is aligned with the farthest right mark on the pulley (see pic). I have highlighted it in white for easy viewing going forward, though not in this old pic.
  9. I want to make sure I am following the correct timing marks. As you can see from the picture, I have multiple notches on both the indicator and the pulley. I want to make sure the correct notch on the pulley is highlighted (center mark) to set the timing. Thoughts?
  10. Logan, will get some pics tomorrow. Z Train is correct, the downside to the pearl overcoat is fixing dings, scratches, etc, it is hard to blend.
  11. Hi, Marty, welcome to a great website to support your efforts on your Z! Another support group for you closer to home is the Desert Datsuns club (http://desertdatsuns.freeforums.org/index.php), also dedicated to the Z and other Datsun addicts! Hope to see you at a club gathering!
  12. Went with a flame red and a gold pearl overcoat. Nice touch in the sun! Will take pics and send along.
  13. Rich, would love to see pics of Arne's method of checking float level. Probably easier to see than just read.
  14. Oops, sorry, Arne, was thinking incorrectly! :stupid:
  15. Look at the vents on the hatch, this is a 70, unless the hatch has been replaced.
  16. It's called "Major Tom (Coming Home)" by Peter Schilling
  17. I figured the same thing, Stephen, based upon the response ...
  18. Yeah, Andrew, that is probably what I will have to do! Can't think of any other options, other than bigger tires.
  19. Unfortunately, the highest number of teeth Courtesy has is the 19 tooth pinion gear (white), which I have and should be correct. Not sure what to do at this point!
  20. Thanks, Walter, I should have clarified the "standard" tire size. I am running the 195/70 R14, as you said, and the odometer is off by about the same amount. Essentially, my speedo and odometer are reading about 10% too many MPH and total miles driven. Was thinking about changing the gear to a larger "tooth" gear, not sure if there is anything else I can do.
  21. I have a 3.9 R200 diff matched with a 5 speed from an 83 280zx installed in my 70 Z, along with the white pinion gear (19 teeth). I am running the standard 14" wheels with standard size tires. I am finding that my speedo is off by about 10% on the high side and was wondering if I should change to a different pinion gear to have more accuracy. Not sure of any other way to calibrate. Any thoughts? Thanks!
  22. I go with the regular Castrol GTX 10w-30 year round, works great for me!
