  1. Thought I would append my question on this thread. I have an R200 diff matched with a 3.9 5 speed from an 83 280zx installed in my 70 Z, along with the white pinion gear (white). I am running the standard 14" wheels with standard size tires. I am finding that my speedo is off by about 10% on the high side and was wondering if I should change to a different pinion gear to have more accuracy. Any thoughts? Thanks!
  2. Not to throw any more salt in the wound, but Tucson is in AZ (Arizona) not AR (Arkansas) ... Oops, Sorry Manny, missed your correction!
  3. Gary, we miss you back in the Phoenix area! No one to replace Spanky's!! Hope your move to TX went well.
  4. Glad I went to the BJ yesterday afternoon; nice and sunny!
  5. If this weather improves, will go in person by Friday ...
  6. Thanks, Tony, point taken.
  7. Great info on installing the side decals! Question: my Datsun logos on both sides are not being held by the pins, but some adhesive directly to the body. The pins are there, just not being secured to the car by them (no pin holders under the body panel). I want to remove the Datsun logos without breaking them (plastic) to install the side decals correctly. Any ideas? Thanks!
  8. Mike, my Z (#1399) had the rubber mat under the carpet, like Carl said.
  9. Any recommendations for the Z Specialties kit? Is it just as easy to make your own by buying the individual parts? Just wondering.
  10. Ditto on the G37, better value for the money!
  11. Looks like we are close cousins; mine is #1399!
  12. Oops! Thanks, Dave, for the bolt specs!
  13. Yes, Arne, a recipe for disaster! My mechanic put in the Arizona Z rear diff mount, which is pretty sturdy, thinking it was enough to hold it down. He was wrong! I built a substitute L-shaped snubber to hold it down for the time being ... until Dave came up with producing the R-T mount! Now I can really pop the clutch and not fear calamity (once I install it)!!
  14. Dave, received the mount on Saturday, was fantastic quality, as always. I need to know the size of bolt that holds the mount (the 4 bolts), as my original tranny strap was removed when I had the 5 speed and R200 installed, and the bolts were not reinstalled (not happy about that!). I figured this will be an easy answer as everyone is installing this new mount anyway, someone should know! Thanks!
  15. Do you need to keep the ballast resistor, or can you remove it? Always thought when you upgraded the distributor that it was unnecessary.
  16. Thanks, Dave, for the instructions!
  17. Dave, you can add me to the list, just please confirm what we are buying. I have seen different pics of brackets, etc, but want to see what it is you will manufacture and sell to us. Will the diff and tranny have to be removed to install, or is there an easy way to do this? Again, you can take the question marks away and add me to the list!
  18. Dave, am assuming this will work on a 70 Z with an 83 R200 diff and 5 speed tranny? I ask because the original holding strap does not work as everything is shifted forwards with the newer drivetrain. Am using a makeshift L-bracket to hold the diff/tranny down in its place, crude but effective for now. Your thoughts?
  19. Thanks, Arne, I appreciate your patience and waiting so long for the numbers to add up. Sorry not everyone came through as expected.
  20. Interesting that some of the Z models show a mesh type grill, instead of the standard horizontal slat type grill. Was thinking of trying to extend my grill about 3 slats lower, to cover the headlight wires, etc, behind the front bumper. I guess if that doesn't work, can try the mesh approach!
  21. Rick, the early Zs had clear hatch glass, and started using the vertical line (defrost) glass sometime after US #1399 (mine has the clear hatch glass). Am assuming you saw #965 with replaced hatch glass, not original.
  22. You must have replacement hatch glass on your Z (with vertical or horizontal defroster lines), because early Zs had the clear glass without the defrost control. My #1399 has the clear hatch glass, no defrost lines.
  23. I was sent this from someone who said it was for early Zs, looks pretty accurate to me. 70_240z_wiring[1].pdf
  24. Great idea, Julio! I have the Hot Rod Air a/c unit, and miss the fresh air option as well. I have not been pleased with the amount of actual air flow from my vents, but I don't believe the installer (not me!) did a good job of attaching the vent hoses tightly to the vents, etc. Am waiting for the hot summer to cool down so I can go back to work on it! Will definitely look at adding your fresh air option!
